Her desperate sobs echoed in the hall. Gasps broke out again. “So it was him!” someone muttered. The police chief’s jaw tightened. His gaze darkened as he turned toward the arrogant man. “So you were behind all this…” The arrogant man’s lips quivered. “N-No… no, that’s not true—” But before he could finish, the footage on the screen suddenly switched—showing him going with Alice on a dark alley, then multiple men attacking her and going with her being unconscious, his hand gripping her arm, his sneer unmistakable.
