“No, no, no. This has to be some kind of sick joke or maybe even a dream” He said after seeing Mrs. Dove hug her daughter.

The woman was joyous that they’d gotten a perfect eye donor.

By the side, Fredrick placed his palm on his forehead and laughed.

“This is so comical that it’s outright wonderful,” he said then looked at Alexander “I guess you really won’t be going to college now. The only studying I see in your future is studying braille but don’t worry, I’ll take it upon myself to get you the best tutor the country has to offer”

Alexander became more lightheaded and dizzy after hyperventilating as much as he had. He felt sick to his stomach and could throw up at any moment.

He looked around, observing how everything was moving along really quickly and he thought to himself ‘I have to get out of here!’

Gathering the little strength and focus he had left, Alexander turned around and tried running for the door. The only option he had for saving himself was to escape.

Sadly, the security personnel in the room blocked his path and held him down.

“Hey! Let go of me!” Alexander yelled, kicking and flailing as the two security who held him carried him to Mr. Dove.

“Alexander shut your mouth and behave yourself! You’re embarrassing yourself and most especially you’re embarrassing the master and his family—“ Mr. Curry said but Mr. Dove raised his hand, gesturing that he stop talking.

Mr. Curry bowed his head and did as instructed.

Once they brought Alexander to Mr. Dove whose arms were crossed, Alexander broke into tears.

“Please, Master Dove, I know I’ve never asked you for anything but please don’t do this to me. I can’t lose my eyes—“ he begged but instead of sympathizing, Mr. Dove frowned.

“You ungrateful leach. After giving you and your family a place to stay for generations and after allowing you to attend the same High School as my children, you can’t do something as simple as returning my daughter’s vision to her?” Mr. Dove said.

“Master, please—“

“Shut your mouth boy! Don’t forget your place here. Property has no right to speak back to its owner so say one more word and I’ll have your tongue taken out too” Mr. Dove said then looked at the two securities holding Alexander.

“Take the rat to the room and make sure nothing interrupts the process”

“As you wish, Sir,” both security said in unison then took Alexander outside the room while he kicked and screamed to be freed.

“Dad! Dad! Please help me! You’re the master’s favorite servant so please beg him for me—“ Alexander begged but saw his father throw his face in the opposite direction.

Alexander’s heart dropped into his stomach and finally, he was carried out.

The doctor walked over to Mr. Dove and said “Since we have our donor now, you and the madam can finally rest easy. Please go home and rest for now, Sir. I’ll make sure to call once the surgery is a success”

“Make sure you do that,” Mr. Dove said then led his family out of the room, out of the hospital, and then back home to their estate.

Inside the room in which Alexander was taken, he had already been strapped to the bed and couldn’t free any limb.

The two security personnel who brought him were also by the door, watching his every move and ready to take action if he did anything stupid.

Just then, the doctor and two nurses came into the room.

“Go and get the anesthetic ready. Can’t have the donor moving around while the surgery is taking place” the doctor instructed.

“Alright doctor” the nurses replied then rushed to go get the anesthetic from the side and install it beside Alexander’s bed.

“Please doctor, don’t do this. Don’t you have a heart? If you do then how would you feel if someone does this to your child?” Alexander asked, trying to connect with the doctor’s human side.

The doctor looked at him with an empty expression that was void of any emotion.

“First of all, I’m a single man with no children and secondly, it’s my job to make sure Mr. Dove and his daughter get whatever they want. Your father has already signed all the documents, absolving any and all responsibilities from us so if you want to blame anyone then blame the life you were born into” The doctor said, and finally the fate of his situation set into Alexander’s heart.

Alexander became silent, watching as the nurse covered his nose with the anesthetic mask and slowly he started to lose consciousness.

He took in the sight of the last image he was ever going to see but sadly it was the sight of the people that’ll be responsible for stealing his vision.

He wished it was something better. Like a beautiful sunset or his mother’s beautiful smile but life was too cruel to even give him that.

The anesthetic had almost completely taken over and with his last energy, Alexander made a promise.

‘I don’t know how and I don’t know when but I’ll make sure those bastards pay for what they’ve done to me. That I promise on my mother’s dead body!’ Alexander thought and suddenly a message popped up in front of his now slitted eyes.

Everything else he saw through his eye slits was blurred except for this message which was in high-definition quality.

‘What is this?’ Alexander asked himself as he read the message.

[CONGRATULATIONS, MR. ALEXANDER CURRY. THE GODS OF VENGEANCE AND POSSESSIONS HAVE HEARD YOUR CRIES OF DESPAIR AND THEY SYMPATHIZE WITH YOU. TOGETHER, THEY HAVE CREATED A SYSTEM THAT’LL ALLOW YOU TO REALIZE YOUR GOALS AND PROVIDE BEFITTING ENTERTAINMENT FOR THEM.]

[DO YOU ACCEPT THIS GIFT FROM THE GODS OR DO YOU WISH TO IGNORE THIS MESSAGE?]

‘The gods of vengeance and possession? What the hell is this even about? Is whatever drug this nurse made me inhale making me hallucinate?’ Alexander asked himself.

[MR. ALEXANDER CURRY, THIS MESSAGE WILL TERMINATE INTO NOTHINGNESS IF YOU DO NOT GIVE YOUR ANSWER WITHIN THE NEXT FIVE SECONDS SO DO YOU ACCEPT THE GIFT FROM THE GODS OR DO YOU WISH TO IGNORE?]

‘That confirms it. I’m hallucinating. Like things can’t get any worse but whatever. Alright, I accept the gift from the gods’ Alexander thought and suddenly the message changed.

[CHOICE ACCEPTED AND PROCESSING… INITIATING D******D OF THE POSSESSION SYSTEM… PROGRESS: 10%… 25%… 50%… 80%… 100%… D******D COMPLETE.]

[CONGRATULATIONS MR. ALEXANDER CURRY, YOU NOW HAVE THE POSSESSION SYSTEM. RICHES, TALENTS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN EVER DREAM OF ARE YOURS FOR THE TAKING.]

[TO ACTIVATE THIS SYSTEM PLEASE PRAISE THE GODS WHO GAVE IT TO YOU.]

[YOU HAVE FIVE SECONDS TO DO SO OR THE ENTIRE PROCESS WILL BE RESERVED AND YOU WILL BE CURSED INSTEAD]

As the timer on the message started counting down from five seconds, Alexander thought:

‘I thought praise was done willingly. How can it be willing if there’s an ultimatum of being cursed if I fail to do it? What a strange thing for my mind to come up with but anyway, what else can I lose? After all, I’m sure this is just my mind trying to cope with what’s happening to me so here goes nothing. I, Alexander Curry praise and thank the gods of vengeance and possessions for their thoughtful gift’

[PRAISE ACCEPTED.]

[CONGRATULATIONS MR. ALEXANDER CURRY. YOU HAVE UNLOCKED THE FULL FUNCTIONALITIES OF THE POSSESSION SYSTEM. AS A REWARD, YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN THREE FREE SLOTS TO FILL WITH WHATEVER POSSESSIONS OF YOUR CHOICE. USE THEM WISELY.]

[MESSAGE WILL DISAPPEAR IN 3…2…1]

With that, the message disappeared and Alexander’s eyes finally closed shut.

After everything, Alexander thought that it was just his imagination but then he started seeing three floating and spinning golden cards.

‘What are these three faceless cards?’ Alexander asked himself

‘Wait, are these the empty slots the message spoke about? Come on, I thought that hallucination stuff was over with. Whatever, I guess I just continue going along with this nonsense’ Alexander thought then grunted.

‘What should my first possession be? Speaking of, I don’t even know what that means. Possession? Is like something of mine or something I take from someone else? Well, no need thinking about the logistics of what my confused mind imagined. I’ll just say whatever’ Alexander thought then an idea came to mind.

‘These people won’t be able to take my eyes if I was awake so I guess my first possession will be VITALITY’ Alexander said, expecting nothing to happen.

Suddenly, two of the three floating cards he saw vanished, leaving one which glowed and then got a face which was the image of a strong heart.

[VITALITY POSSESSED] a message popped up.

Suddenly, Alexander felt something slam into his bed then he heard the loud thud of something heavy falling on the ground.

The nurses screamed.

‘What’s going on— huh? What’s this? I feel my energy coming back? Did the drug they gave me fail?’ Alexander asked himself and suddenly, he started hearing the nurses calling the doctor’s name in a panic.

Within seconds, Alexander felt completely rejuvenated. He opened his eyes and looked at where the noise and panic was coming and saw the nurses trying to wake the doctor who was passed out on the floor.

Confused, Alexander furrowed his eyebrows and then…

[YOU HAVE TAKEN INTO POSSESSION THE VITALITY OF DICTOR RICHARD EVANS. TWO FREE SLOTS REMAINING. PLEASE USE WISELY]

Alexander’s eyes widened.

“Wait. The system is real?”

“So, do you think you can remember what happened—what exactly caused you to fall into a coma?” Miss Anderson asked gently, her voice laced with curiosity and concern.Sebastian groaned quietly and grimaced, the effort of remembering seeming almost physically painful.“I assumed by now you would’ve reviewed the footage from Stars Garden Incorporated,” he replied with mild surprise, “to piece together what happened that day.”Miss Anderson nodded solemnly. “We did. I went there myself. Retrieved all the security footage they had. I sat down and watched it frame by frame to uncover the truth behind your collapse. But… there was a problem.”Sebastian raised his eyebrows slowly. “A problem? What kind of problem?”“There were gaps in the footage,” she said, her voice growing tighter.“Gaps? Missing footage?” Sebastian nearly jolted upright, his surprise overriding his fatigue for a brief moment.“Apparently, Stars Garden Incorporated has had terrible security protocols for some time now—or

A few seconds later, the last of the family members had reluctantly exited the room, leaving behind the quiet stillness that comes with privacy. The grand door shut gently, creating a momentary hush as Alexander, Miss Anderson, and Sebastian Foster were finally alone—just as Miss Anderson had requested.Sebastian shifted slightly in his bed and cast his gaze toward Alexander, who stood a short distance away. From the patriarch’s perspective, Alexander seemed like the odd one out, a stranger in what was undeniably a deeply personal family moment. His brow furrowed, and he let out a groan of dissatisfaction.“I appreciate everything you did to save my life, young man,” Sebastian said, his voice firm but not unkind. “But if I recall correctly, I asked everyone to leave so I could speak with Anderson in private. That request included you.”Alexander’s expression stiffened slightly. He cast a quick, uneasy glance toward Miss Anderson, silently seeking her help to explain the situation.Mis

Alexander, Miss Anderson, and Nurse Rebecca stood in solemn silence before the large bed, directly facing Sebastian Foster and the gathered members of the Foster family who stood or sat by his side. The atmosphere in the room was charged with tension, relief, and anticipation—each person processing the patriarch's recovery in their own way.Sebastian’s weary eyes scanned the faces before him. When they landed on Miss Anderson, his expression softened with a trace of sorrow and gratitude.“I was told I’m only alive because you donated a significant amount of your blood for my treatment,” he said quietly, his voice weak but full of sincerity. “I’m extremely grateful to you, Anderson. I truly am.”Despite being too fatigued to move with any vigor, he tried to bow his head in acknowledgment, the effort itself speaking volumes about his appreciation.“It’s no problem, Dad,” Miss Anderson replied with a gentle, almost tearful smile. “After all, what’s family for, if not for this?”The word

“Huh?” Nurse Rebecca quickly stood upright from checking the IV needle in Miss Anderson’s arm and turned to face Alexander with a puzzled expression.“If she can’t move on her own because she’s too weak, then we can just put her in a wheelchair and roll her over to the patriarch’s room,” Alexander suggested, speaking with calm practicality. “That’s assuming there’s a wheelchair around here somewhere. But considering this building has been operating almost like a private hospital for one person over the past three years, I’m almost certain there has to be one nearby.”Miss Anderson’s lips curved into a playful smirk. She tilted her head slightly toward Nurse Rebecca and said with a knowing glint in her eyes, “There is a wheelchair somewhere around here, isn’t there?”She wasn’t just guessing—she knew. She had visited the estate multiple times over the past three years and was confident that she had seen a wheelchair at least once before during her rounds.“Yes,” Nurse Rebecca admitted,

"Master Sebastian has woken up and has specifically requested to see you, Miss Anderson, as well as Sir Alexander, the man who cured him of his life-threatening illness," Sonia announced with a calm but proud tone. Her words seemed to echo through the room like a divine proclamation.Miss Anderson’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief and emotional shock."What... what did you just say?" she asked, her voice trembling with excitement and uncertainty. The hope surging through her veins made her wonder if she had actually heard the words correctly or if her mind had conjured up a hallucination driven by desperation and longing.“I said that the patriarch is awake,” Sonia repeated patiently, her warm voice carrying a hint of relief, “and he would very much like to see the two of you—both you, Miss Anderson, and Sir Alexander. Though he remains somewhat fatigued and is currently resting, he made it quite clear that your presence is deeply important to him. So, if you could find it within your

Because Sarah had passed away and the financial support she once relied on had come to an abrupt end, Sebastian Foster took it upon himself to secure a future for the two daughters she left behind. He created a trust fund in their names, using his immense wealth to ensure that they would be provided for—without ever knowing the true source of the money. To preserve the illusion and protect the fragile truth, he had the bank—which he discreetly owned—pretend that it was Sarah who had established the trust before her death. The fund was sizable—large enough to sustain both Miss Anderson and her younger sister from adolescence into adulthood. It covered their educational expenses, living costs, and any additional support they might need. It was designed to give them access to the finest schools, tutors, and opportunities that money could buy. As a result, the sisters enrolled in the most prestigious high school in the city. When Miss Anderson graduated with top honors, she chose to atten
