The car drove in complete silence.

Chen drove with focus, his eyes on the dark road ahead.

Logan sat in the back seat, his head resting against the window, staring out with a vacant gaze.

Jordan was in the front passenger seat, his body stiff, his eyes also looking out, but not really seeing anything.

No one spoke, not even the sound of music.

Only the smooth sound of the car engine and occasionally the wind outside.

Jordan could still hear Carlos's screams in his head.

Could still see Alex's swollen and bloody face.

Could still feel the oppressive atmosphere in that basement.

He had never witnessed anything like this before.

He knew this world was harsh, but seeing it firsthand, feeling the darkness and despair in that room, was truly different.

Jordan swallowed hard, his hands clenched in his lap.

He wanted to ask something but didn't know what to say.

So he just stayed silent.

Staring out the window at the passing darkness.

Chen glanced at Jordan from the corner of his eye, catchin

In a large dimly lit room, only illuminated by a few large candles placed in the corners of the room, an old man sat on a large chair that resembled a throne. The air there felt damp and cold, making the atmosphere even more gripping. The chair was made of black wood carved with intricate patterns. Its backrest was high, making the person sitting there look like a king.Old Ramon. His hair was all white, styled neatly back. His face was full of wrinkles, but his eyes were still sharp and full of ambition. He wore a long dark robe, covering almost his entire body.In front of him, a middle aged man stood respectfully. Ralph. His most trusted assistant."Report," Old Ramon's voice sounded heavy and deep, echoing in that large room.Ralph nodded. "The plan is running perfectly, Master. We have taken all targets. Samantha, William Ashford, Ray Welles, Henry Cold, Jonathan Damon, and Casper Ron. All are already in a safe place. They are tied tightly and cannot fight back at all."Old Ramon

Camilla looked at the two men in front of her with a growing sense of unease.Mayor Richard and Kendrick stood in her reception room with worried faces. Both were waiting for an answer from Camilla."Sorry, Mr. Mayor, Mr. Kendrick," Camilla finally spoke. "They still cannot be reached. It has been like this for a few hours."Richard frowned. "What do you mean cannot be reached?""Their phones are dead, Sir. No signal at all."Kendrick stepped forward. "And Jordan?""Jordan was last with Mr. Chen, Sir. But I cannot contact him either."Kendrick sighed deeply. His hands clenched tightly at his sides.Richard took his phone again, trying to call Samantha for the umpteenth time. The result was the same. Not connected."This is unnatural," Richard mumbled. "Samantha never turns off her phone. Even when sleeping, her phone is always active."Camilla also felt the same way. Logan and Chen were very professional people. They would not let communication be cut off just like that without a stro

  • Chapter 188:

The long ringing sound from the old speaker finally stopped. The small forest behind the property area returned to silence.Logan and Chen stood motionless under the dead spotlight pole.Their eyes combed the darkness around the pole, searching for traces of cables or transmission sources connecting that rusty speaker to somewhere.Chen moved first. He approached the iron pole, feeling its rough and cold surface. No clues."This cable is buried under the pole foundation," reported Chen. "We have to dig if we want to trace it, and that will take too much time."Logan did not answer. He knew it was futile.Chen tried walking around the stand area once more, hoping to find a transmitter or maybe a walkie talkie left behind. But the result was nil.Suddenly, the speaker atop the pole sounded again. This time it was not the mocking laugh of the mysterious man earlier. The sound heard made Chen's blood run cold.It was the sound of screaming."Help! Stop."The voice was hoarse, weak, but Ch

  • Chapter 189:

Logan did not wait for a single second. His body shot forward, grabbing a piece of rusty zinc board lying near the edge of the field. He jumped high over Chen's head and placed himself exactly in the path of the poison needle. The sound of metal clashing rang out loudly amidst the silence of the night. The needle hit the zinc board in Logan's hand. Its sharp tip smeared with black poison failed to penetrate Logan's defense.Logan landed steadily, his eyes staring sharply at the figure on the tribune roof."You are asking for death," said Logan in a low voice that sounded clear enough to reach the attacker's ears.Without pausing, Logan flicked his wrist. He did not let the needle fall to the ground. With perfect angle calculation and controlled power, Logan reflected the needle back using the surface of the zinc board. The needle sped back towards its origin at double the speed. The figure on the tribune roof did not have time to react. His eyes widened in shock.A second later, a sup

  • Chapter 186:

Logan's soft chuckle vanished into the increasingly cold night wind. From the darkness of the door and the broken window, new figures emerged. They were different from the previous attackers. These people wore all white clothes that contrasted with the dark night. On their heads sat large hats covering most of the upper face, while the nose and mouth were covered by tight cloth masks. Only their eyes were visible, shining coldly without emotion. There were about ten people now surrounding the room. They did not attack immediately. They stood still, like statues or ghosts. The aura they radiated felt dark and heavy. To an ordinary person, this aura would be very intimidating, as if death itself stood before them. But for Logan, this aura was nothing more than a passing breeze.Logan did not move. He did not take a fighting stance. His hands hung casually at his sides. He just looked at them with bored eyes, as if looking at a queue in a coffee shop, not a group of hitmen ready

  • Chapter 185

Logan stood motionless amidst the thinning smoke. His eyes scanned the helipad meticulously, searching for tracks, movement, or anything that could give him a clue. But nothing. The grass, wet with night dew, showed no clear footprints.Whoever carried out this ambush was a high-level professional. They moved without leaving evidence.Logan stepped closer to Chen who was still lying beside the helicopter fuselage. The man tried to get up, his hand pressing his left ribs which had taken a hard impact."Chen," Logan knelt beside him. "How is your condition?"Chen winced slightly as he tried to sit up. "I'm fine, Chairman. Just bruises. No broken bones."Logan checked quickly. Indeed, there were no serious injuries visible, but the blow Chen received was hard enough to throw his body several meters."Are you sure?""I am sure," Chen nodded, though his breathing was slightly ragged. "They only wanted to incapacitate, not kill. If they wanted to kill, I would have been dead by now."Chen's
