Chapter 6

DOMINIC POV

PS: I will now introduce the Pov as Dominic but remember, John’s body has been buried, and his soul was transported into the body of Dominic, so I will continue the story with the name Dominic instead of John. THANK YOU.

*******

During the week I spent at the hospital, I did my research. Thankfully, Ken did as I instructed, not telling anyone that I was awake.

I was settled into the VVIP ward, making my status hidden. Thanks to the million-dollar system that funds me daily, I had no issue paying the hospital bills.

The owner of this body, Dominic Volkov didn't have competition in the business world but his works had a great future, he was just going about it the wrong way, which led to the bankruptcy.

He didn't have enemies in the business world but his closest companions were the beam of his existence.

I sat in the boardroom with Francis, shaking his leg while sneaking a peek at me. I could see him fidgeting and he wasn't the only one, my so-called fiance too was the same. They kept stealing glances at each other.

“Baby, are you sure you need to be here? Did the doctor really clear you? They said the fall was hard, are you sure you are all better?” she bombarded me with a series of questions, taking my hands and pushing herself on me.

Disgusting!

What is it with women? Why can’t they be ever satisfied?

I tilted my head towards her, gently, “Why?” I snarled, locking eyes with her.

Her throat bobbed as she slowly pulled away, “H..honey?”

“You don’t look happy to see me, why?” I rasped not taking my eyes off her, knowing it was through her off balance.

Studying Dominic and his business wasn’t the only thing I did at the hospital.

I bought books… How to become a ruthless, heartless man! How to bring a person to crumble down to their feet. How to make the world worship you. How to be god. I studied everything and the main point I have taken in all the books I have read is, to have confidence and never break eye contact.

“What… I… I am.. Of course, I am happy, I am just worried that you haven't fully healed yet.” She stuttered, plastering a fake smile on her face.

I scoffed, breaking our eye contact.

“Uhm, Mr. Volkov, your fiance is right, we need you to be in your right mind while signing these documents, we can always reschedule.” One of the men from the buying company blurted

I lifted my finger to stop him, “Actually, there won't be a need to reschedule because I am not selling the company.” I blurted.

There was silence in the room until Fransis broke it, “Dom, this is a good offer. We need the money, if not for anything, for the staff we haven't paid in six months, I think it’s high time you drop your ego and do what is right.”

This bastard.

So he can kill me as planned and run away with my fiance?

I laughed, “Francis, don’t do that.” I deadpanned.

He leaned back.

“I am only looking out for you, as a good friend that I am.” He needled.

I gasped and nodded, “Right, of course, you were looking out for me, but correct me, were you looking out for me while fucking my fiance? Or planning to sell my company and run away together?” I taunted, glaring at him, the dead look on my face, drained off his.

His hands trembled on the table but he took it off immediately, his eyes widened, almost popping out of his socket.

“Dominic! How could you!” My fiance yelled, jerking me. “After staying by your side while you tried to kill yourself at the top of the building, after being with you! How dare you accuse me of cheating with your best friend? How can you repay me like this? Are you nuts?” she screamed, defending herself in a high-pitched tone. Rambling on and on. She probably thought doing that would make her seem like the good guy but according to the books I read, over-explaining yourself makes you guilty even if you are not.

But she is guilty. She fucking is.

Without saying a word to attack her brutal words at me, I pulled out my phone and placed it on the table, playing a video.

While I was at the hospital, I thought hard. Ace the system had told me Dominic was almost killed but every news I found on Dominic said he tried to kill himself by jumping off his building.

It was fishy.

Something didn't seem right, so I made my findings, visited every place Dominic visited before his accident, and then I found something.

The footage.

The one I am playing right now for them to see.

It’s a compilation of seven footage, of My fiancee and best friend acting like couples, kissing, holding hands, visiting hotels, traveling together while lying that they had to travel for work or relaxation, meanwhile, they were going to spend time alone.

“You…had me followed? How dare you!” she yelled at me.

Of course, she was going to make this about herself.

“How could you have me followed, you lowly bastard! I stayed with you even when your business was failing, I supported you even when my friends saw you as nothing but a pauper, and yet you had the nerve to follow me? You ingrate.” She raved, shooting lasers from her eyes. Pushing her chair away abs acting like she was in the right.

But of course that was not my smoking gun.

“Is that why you pushed me off the building?”

Her bag dropped from her hand and she trembled, almost crumbling to the floor.

The color drained from her face, her throat bobbed, beads of sweat plastered on her forehead. “You.. I.. I didn't.. I didn't do it.” She stuttered, then proceeded to point at Fransis… “He did… I didn't do anything, I swear.”

“You lying bitch! This was all your idea, how dare you try to push the blame on me.” Fransis yelled back.

I sat, and leaned my back on the chair, watching them point fingers at each other, without them realizing that two detectives had walked in and caught them admitting to having pushed me off the cliff.

The truth was, I never had proof that they were the ones that pushed the owner of this body, Dominuc Volkov off the building but they were the only ones with motive, and all I had to do was drop the bait and they bit.

“You both are under arrest for the attempted murder of Dominic Volkov, anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law.” The detective read the Miranda rights and took them away.

“So I take it you really are not selling the company?” The people from the buying group asked again and I nodded and walked out of the boardroom.

“Boss!” my assistant called out to me, sadness written on her face. She bowed her head and moved away from her table, showing me the pile of resignation letters that were dropped. “90% of our staff just resigned.”

Chapter 12 Dominic Before I could say another word, Lucy's eyes searched Mike, she plastered a warm smile on her cheek, “Can I talk to you, Mr Dominic?” Her voice was subtle and calm, while making sure her eyes remained on mine. “Sure.” I gestured for her to come with me as I made my way to my office. I tilted my head to see my assistant’s eyes shining at me, shaking her head and shrugging her shoulders in a way to ask me why I was still going to my office with Lucy after her father had almost humiliated me and taken away my company. I smirked and ignored her. We got to my office, I closed the door behind me and slid my hands into my pocket, my head up high as I watched her, studied her. What does she want to talk about? Why is she looking at me like that? What is going through her mind? Is she going to stick with me as my fiancée? I can’t let that happen, I need Nancy… I need to get into their family and bring them down… I need to make them suffer for everything they did to me

Chapter 11DOMINIC VOLKOV2 days agoBusinessmen always like to meet together, from the smallest companies to the biggest companies, but they all have to be on the chart. And me? Well, I am not on the chart, but I need to be on the chart—not 100, not 99—and to do that, I have to play dirty. My goal today is to help Mr. Collins Devon, owner of Lego Foods. He produces one of the best beverages in the country except he doesn’t have the finances to keep it going or take it to the next level and to make matters worse, his godforsaken children are running him dry, taking every penny, he makes, going to parties, sleeping with girls, creating scandals that are bad for the company.I need to take his place.“Dominic Volkov, it’s nice to see you.” Mr. Devon, a fifty year old man, dressed in an Italian suit stood up to shake hands with me. I took his hands and sat before him.“Good to see you too Mr. Devon, I must say, considering the troubles your son causes you, you look rather alive.” I blurt

Chapter 9 DOMINIC’S POV What the fuck did I do? Why? Why did I have to run my mouth and ask for Lucy? Ugh… fuck me! [You chose Lucy] “I know.” [You wanted to marry Nancy.] “I know!” [So you love Lucy?] “What the fuck, Ace? No, I don't love Lucy, Lucy is…was a friend, and don’t forget, she is a member of that Artisan’s family, the only thing I want from that family is to have them grovel on their knees and beg me while I punish them for what they did.” I spat. [Does that include Lucy?] [Do you also want to punish her for her family’s crimes] “If I have to.” [Then it’s settled, it doesn't matter who you marry, Nancy or Lucy, you will still be connected to Aritsan’s group, Your revenge is still on track.] Taking my seat, I sigh, looking into space. Luca agreed to give me his daughter, Lucy even though Nancy was pissed by it. He asked why I wanted Lucy, and all I could say was, who wouldn't want Lucy? Because, who wouldn't want Lucy, have you seen Lucy? But what I think abo

Chapter 8 DOM’S POV Getting home, I went to my laptop, trying not to think about Lucy. Not because I wanted to have anything to do with her but because I hated the thought of her getting married to that douchebag. Lucy and I barely saw each other after I got married to her sister because Nancy hated the idea of me being close to her little sister even though she got to know me through Lucy. Lucy and I had been good friends despite our age differences. I saved her from getting hit by a bus and she followed me about ever since, she helped me with May and Ara, and she helped me with life even though she was younger. I hated that I stopped talking to her because Nancy thought Lucy had feelings for me which was absurd. I shook off those old thoughts and went on to work. I opened my laptop and an email from the Artisan group popped up. I clicked on it and the messages spread through my screen and I read. “Tomorrow at Blue Hill Vio restaurant, noon. Reservation under the name, Mr Luc

Chapter 7 DOM’S POV I received an email this morning. “Mr. Dominic Volkov, this is an Artisan Group. We hope this email finds you well. We are sending this email because we believe your company has potential and we would love to set up a meeting together to discuss a possible future of becoming partners.” “Ha! Ha! Ha!” I burst into laughter as I read the messages. [is there something funny about the message your enemy sent?] Ace asked, his voice echoing in my head. I slammed his hands over my mouth as I sat in the new apartment I just bought two days ago after I managed to stop the company from going to someone else and also receiving the mass resignation letter from my staff. It was a pleasant day and a bad one too. Because how on earth am I supposed to get 200 staff in 4 days? My goal is to take this company to the top and to do that, I need the best staff. I can’t just recruit anyone and besides, everyone knows that my company is going through financial instability, no one
