Chapter 9
DOMINIC’S POV What the fuck did I do? Why? Why did I have to run my mouth and ask for Lucy? Ugh… fuck me! [You chose Lucy] “I know.” [You wanted to marry Nancy.] “I know!” [So you love Lucy?] “What the fuck, Ace? No, I don't love Lucy, Lucy is…was a friend, and don’t forget, she is a member of that Artisan’s family, the only thing I want from that family is to have them grovel on their knees and beg me while I punish them for what they did.” I spat. [Does that include Lucy?] [Do you also want to punish her for her family’s crimes] “If I have to.” [Then it’s settled, it doesn't matter who you marry, Nancy or Lucy, you will still be connected to Aritsan’s group, Your revenge is still on track.] Taking my seat, I sigh, looking into space. Luca agreed to give me his daughter, Lucy even though Nancy was pissed by it. He asked why I wanted Lucy, and all I could say was, who wouldn't want Lucy? Because, who wouldn't want Lucy, have you seen Lucy? But what I think about her doesn't matter, she is part of the family that ruined my life. My phone buzzed, it was from the private investigator I hired to look for my sister Ara. Because Ara just disappeared. I have searched every corner of this earth, every possible place I could think of but she just vanished so I hired an investigator. “What did you find?” I bristled. There was a little silence on his end and it caused my heart to rise. What did he find? Is Ara okay? Is she safe? “Speak!” I thundered. “According to my thorough investigation, Ms Ara had buried her brother and daughter on the same day. The last place she was seen, at least, by the people they were not able to bribe was the Aritsan’s family house. Ms Ara’ last location was the Artisan’s and no one has seen or heard from her since. I am still searching but it would be hard. Also, I would.. I think we should prepare for the worst.” The investigator muttered. My hands froze on the phone, beads of sweat plastered on my forehead. No! Not Ara! If they touch Ara I will kill them all! “Find her! You have to find her.” I raged and threw my phone across the room. “Argh!” I screamed. I clenched my table, panting, anger glowing through every part of my body. I shut my eyes as memories of my sister and I flooded my mind, how she took care of me and loved me…. And most importantly how she warned me that marrying Nancy was never going to end well. I should have fucking listened! I should have listened! And now, now I am dead, my niece is dead, my sister is missing, all because of them! I will kill them all, every last one of them I will make them go through the same pain they inflicted on me… no, I would double it! I will pay them back twice what they gave. They will bleed! They will cry! They will grovel! They will beg! They will all pay! And I will make sure they do! Every last one of them. My crashed phone made a notification sound and I had to go pick it up, its broken screen was so disgusting to look at, I could barely see a thing but I saw the message that came in. “Hi, it’s Lucy, if you’re free, would you like to have dinner with me? Tonight, at Bud’s Restaurant.” Dressing my best, I arrived at the restaurant to meet Lucy, already there, waiting for me. I walked in and joined her on the table, “Hello, Lucy.” I greeted. Her eyes settled on mine for a moment, she blinked and looked away, flushed. “Are you okay?” “Yes… sorry… I just… you reminded me of someone I knew, it’s no one. Welcome, I’m I mean, hi.” She rambled. Her favorite juice came in and I pushed it towards her, “Take a sip and deep breaths.” I mumbled while watching her like a Hawk. Lucy is my enemy! She is the daughter of my enemy! She is the sister of my enemy! She…. Is nothing but a pawn I need to make her family pay for what they did to me. “So why did you call me out here?” I went straight to the point. My voice was stern and direct. She gulped down, “I don't want to marry you.” she said, sternly without batting an eye. “Why?” “Because I don’t like you,” she answered boldly. “And you like the son of Leo’s Group? What is that douche’s name again? Mark? You like Mark?” I rasped, taking a sip of my wine, her eyes trailed my hands on the wine glass then how it sat on my lips. “Ew, God! No!” She spat. I dropped my napkin, “So then marry me. I do not need a housewife, I don’t need you to sit at home doing nothing all day, if you have a passion, I would let you pursue it, if you want babies, we’ll make babies… But what I don’t want is for you to cheat! Do not ever cheat and we’re good.” I blurted. “And love?” she rasped, barely locking eyes with me. “You are a daughter of a conglomerate, you should know that marrying for love is one thing you can never have.” I hissed. “My sister did,” she mumbled, the sadness kicked into her voice and it formed a lump in my throat. “She married a man that loved her with all his heart, and I… I think she loved him… Sorry, I don’t know why I am telling you this… I just… You’re right.” she stuttered and sipped her juice again. “So, then, we’re getting married.” I blurted, ignoring everything she said, pretending like I didn't sense the hate when she mentioned her sister, pretending like I didn't see the little tear that formed in her eyes when she talked about the man who married her sister. “Dominic… I know I shouldn't say this but… I don’t… I have read everything I could about you in the last eight hours and I just… Stop what you are doing with my family, they don’t have good plans for you, you need to leave before things get out of control. They are like predators and right now, you are their prey, and no! I am not saying this so I don’t marry you, you seem like a pretty decent guy but please, do not sign with my family.” I sat there, looking at Lucy and how desperate she was, asking me, begging me. I laughed. Of course, I knew her family was planning to do something. “Go home, Lucy, I can drive you if you didn't bring your car.” I offered. She bowed her head in defeat and shook her head, “This is my favorite restaurant, I’ll stay here a little more.” she whimpered and I left without thinking twice because I knew she was safe there, after all, it used to be our favorite spot, I introduced her to the restaurant. [24 hours 50 minutes 38 seconds.] My phone rang, it was a call from Elise, my personal assistant. “Elise, I am working on getting the staff we need, just focus on… “Boss, Artisan Group is here, they are demanding we evacuate.”

Chapter 8 DOM’S POV Getting home, I went to my laptop, trying not to think about Lucy. Not because I wanted to have anything to do with her but because I hated the thought of her getting married to that douchebag. Lucy and I barely saw each other after I got married to her sister because Nancy hated the idea of me being close to her little sister even though she got to know me through Lucy. Lucy and I had been good friends despite our age differences. I saved her from getting hit by a bus and she followed me about ever since, she helped me with May and Ara, and she helped me with life even though she was younger. I hated that I stopped talking to her because Nancy thought Lucy had feelings for me which was absurd. I shook off those old thoughts and went on to work. I opened my laptop and an email from the Artisan group popped up. I clicked on it and the messages spread through my screen and I read. “Tomorrow at Blue Hill Vio restaurant, noon. Reservation under the name, Mr Luc

Chapter 7 DOM’S POV I received an email this morning. “Mr. Dominic Volkov, this is an Artisan Group. We hope this email finds you well. We are sending this email because we believe your company has potential and we would love to set up a meeting together to discuss a possible future of becoming partners.” “Ha! Ha! Ha!” I burst into laughter as I read the messages. [is there something funny about the message your enemy sent?] Ace asked, his voice echoing in my head. I slammed his hands over my mouth as I sat in the new apartment I just bought two days ago after I managed to stop the company from going to someone else and also receiving the mass resignation letter from my staff. It was a pleasant day and a bad one too. Because how on earth am I supposed to get 200 staff in 4 days? My goal is to take this company to the top and to do that, I need the best staff. I can’t just recruit anyone and besides, everyone knows that my company is going through financial instability, no one

Chapter 6 DOMINIC POV PS: I will now introduce the Pov as Dominic but remember, John’s body has been buried, and his soul was transported into the body of Dominic, so I will continue the story with the name Dominic instead of John. THANK YOU. ******* During the week I spent at the hospital, I did my research. Thankfully, Ken did as I instructed, not telling anyone that I was awake. I was settled into the VVIP ward, making my status hidden. Thanks to the million-dollar system that funds me daily, I had no issue paying the hospital bills. The owner of this body, Dominic Volkov didn't have competition in the business world but his works had a great future, he was just going about it the wrong way, which led to the bankruptcy. He didn't have enemies in the business world but his closest companions were the beam of his existence. I sat in the boardroom with Francis, shaking his leg while sneaking a peek at me. I could see him fidgeting and he wasn't the only one, my so-called fianc

Chapter 5JohnAccepting to become Dominic Volkov, the first thing I did was return to the hospital. There the doctors were losing their minds trying to find me.“Oh, Mr. Dominic, it is a miracle that you are alive.” The professor Doc said to me, looking in awe and disbelief as I sat in his office, hail and healthy.“Thank you. I need to be discharged today,” I blurted, not returning the doctor's smile. He nodded, “Of course, we have done all the necessary tests and you are completely hail and healthy, you are free to leave, as long as you pay up your bills, your wife has stopped paying your hospital expenses and also stopped visiting and she is also not taking the calls from the hospital, they only reason we kept you was that, well, you used to be a volunteer at the hospital but you have a lot of bills to settle.” He mumbled, the sadness in his voice showed how hard it was for him to tell me all these things. On the way back to the hospital, Ace filled me with everything I needed to

Chapter 4 JohnBeep! Beep! Beep! My eyes slowly curled open but I had to shut it again as the fluorescent light from the ceiling collided with it. Where am I? I tilted my head slowly, and next to me was a monitor that read my heart rate. I’m alive? I sat up and looked around, confused, I touched my body, felt my face, I was alive. How? How is that possible? How did I survive the beating? The stab wounds? The bleeding from my head? But all that didn't matter. May! May and Ara. I have to find May and Ara. I got out of bed, yanked the IV off my wrist, I wallet inside the drawer by my bedside, I yanked the money inside and rushed towards the door of the ward. I yanked it open and staggered out. I bumped into a maid who screamed as she saw me. It was as though she had seen a ghost. I ignored her and continued to find my way out of the hospital. “Mr Dom!” “Mr Dominic Volkov!” “Mr. Dom, please return to your room, you shouldn't be moving around.”I heard the nurse call ou
