Chapter 8
DOM’S POV Getting home, I went to my laptop, trying not to think about Lucy. Not because I wanted to have anything to do with her but because I hated the thought of her getting married to that douchebag. Lucy and I barely saw each other after I got married to her sister because Nancy hated the idea of me being close to her little sister even though she got to know me through Lucy. Lucy and I had been good friends despite our age differences. I saved her from getting hit by a bus and she followed me about ever since, she helped me with May and Ara, and she helped me with life even though she was younger. I hated that I stopped talking to her because Nancy thought Lucy had feelings for me which was absurd. I shook off those old thoughts and went on to work. I opened my laptop and an email from the Artisan group popped up. I clicked on it and the messages spread through my screen and I read. “Tomorrow at Blue Hill Vio restaurant, noon. Reservation under the name, Mr Luca Artisan.” I read. “Very well.” The following morning came. The day I would be meeting my enemies. The day I would see Nancy again. I wanted to buy an expensive suit, custom-made with the most expensive Rolex, and perfect custom-made shoes but then I remembered, right now, I am playing the role of a desperate man who needs Artisan to sign the partnership with him, dressing expensive will rule against me. I wore the old clothes from the wardrobe, picked a decent shoe and a nice watch, and left the house in a small Toyota Camry, one that screamed that I was financially unstable. I arrived at the restaurant that Artisan had sent to me. Blue Hill Vio, is an expensive restaurant, one that only accommodates high-class society members. They watch from the way you dress to the way you talk and can discern if you are wealthy or not, and their food was said to be one of the best. They only buy products from a particular vendor, one I have yet to find out. Signing a deal with Blue Hill Vio is like the gates of heaven opening down on you. “Good afternoon, I am here under the reservation, Mr. Luca Artisan,” I said politely, yet boldly and sternly, my hands slid into my pocket, my eyes locking with the waiter’s eyes. He looked at me for two seconds and bowed instantly, “This way to the Vip section, Mr Dominic Volkov.” He muttered. The level of respect that emitted from him was enough to give people the wrong idea that I am probably an A+ + wealthy man. I can’t blame him, I guess the way I carried myself screamed class. I made my way to the restaurant and I halted, seeing my ex-in-laws smiling together. Luca, my boss and the one who hated me with passion because I was poor, and yet I managed to marry his daughter. Nancy, my dear wife, one who cheated on me but I pretended I didn't know because I loved her, the one who killed my niece, the one who had me murdered, the one who ruined my life. “Mr Dominic, it’s so nice to see you make it.” Luca faked a cheer, waving at me elegantly as I walked closer to him. I took a deep breath and humbled myself as I bowed and sat before him. “It’s nice to see you, I'm so glad you called me out here, I could really use your help.” I felt disgusted uttering those words but I needed to swallow my pride. I had to swallow my pride. Luca laughed. “Of course.” He lifted his wine glass and raised it towards me. I never thought I would be drinking on the same table with my enemies ever again but some things need to be done. I have to lower my head to be able to lift my head later. I lifted the wine glass and drank with him. Nancy smiled at me. I locked my gaze with her and I watched, I watched the woman who ruined my laugh. I remember how I used to love her, how I used to respect her, she was the goddess I worshiped and now, she is the devil I want to slaughter. “So let’s skip the pleasantries shall we?” Luca interrupted the silence between us. He pulled out a from Nancy’s bag and handed it over to me then gestured with his head for me to go through it. I flipped the first page and I saw the offer, they were going to support my company, and help me get back on my feet. But they weren’t asking for anything, no incentive, no share in my company. Actually, I knew this …. I knew what their plan was, after all, I lived as the son-in-law and wife for years. I feigned, “Uhm, you’re not asking for anything in return?” I rasped, pretending to be confused. I knew what they wanted. “Actually, I thought of something better than incentives and shares.” He smirked. He turned to his daughter, Nancy, “How would you like be marry my daughter?” I looked at Nancy and turned to Luca, “And why would I want to marry your daughter?” I asked. He laughed, “Oh, Dominic, you still have a lot to learn about this business world… marrying my daughter would make you family, which means, you will always have my support.” he muttered. “Besides, my daughter seems to have taken a liking to you.” I scoffed. If I had not lived as John once, I probably would have fallen for their lies. This is what I wanted anyway, to marry Nancy but then my mouth moved on its own. “You have two daughters right?” I blurted. What the fuck am I doing? “Yes, Nancy and Lucy.” “Well, then, is it okay if I take Lucy as my bride instead? I have taken a liking to her.” Holy Fuck, what did I just fucking do?

Chapter 12 Dominic Before I could say another word, Lucy's eyes searched Mike, she plastered a warm smile on her cheek, “Can I talk to you, Mr Dominic?” Her voice was subtle and calm, while making sure her eyes remained on mine. “Sure.” I gestured for her to come with me as I made my way to my office. I tilted my head to see my assistant’s eyes shining at me, shaking her head and shrugging her shoulders in a way to ask me why I was still going to my office with Lucy after her father had almost humiliated me and taken away my company. I smirked and ignored her. We got to my office, I closed the door behind me and slid my hands into my pocket, my head up high as I watched her, studied her. What does she want to talk about? Why is she looking at me like that? What is going through her mind? Is she going to stick with me as my fiancée? I can’t let that happen, I need Nancy… I need to get into their family and bring them down… I need to make them suffer for everything they did to me

I took his hands and sat before him.“Good to see you too Mr. Devon, I must say, considering the troubles your son causes you, you look rather alive.” I blurt

No, I don't love Lucy, Lucy is…was a friend, and don’t forget, she is a member of that Artisan’s family, the only thing I want from that family is to have them grovel on their knees and beg me while I punish them for what they did.” I spat. [Does that include Lucy?] [Do you also want to punish her for her family’s crimes] “If I have to.” [Then it’s settled, it doesn't matter who you marry, Nancy or Lucy, you will still be connected to Aritsan’s group, Your revenge is still on track.] Taking my seat, I sigh, looking into space. Because, who wouldn't want Lucy, have you seen Lucy? But what I think abo

Chapter 7 DOM’S POV I received an email this morning. “Mr. Dominic Volkov, this is an Artisan Group. We hope this email finds you well. We are sending this email because we believe your company has potential and we would love to set up a meeting together to discuss a possible future of becoming partners.” “Ha! Ha! Ha!” I burst into laughter as I read the messages. [is there something funny about the message your enemy sent?] Ace asked, his voice echoing in my head. I slammed his hands over my mouth as I sat in the new apartment I just bought two days ago after I managed to stop the company from going to someone else and also receiving the mass resignation letter from my staff. It was a pleasant day and a bad one too. Because how on earth am I supposed to get 200 staff in 4 days? My goal is to take this company to the top and to do that, I need the best staff. I can’t just recruit anyone and besides, everyone knows that my company is going through financial instability, no one
