"I heard they've been losing money for months," the younger stylist continued. "And now there are all these rumors flying around that they might have to shut down completely."

"That's what happens when you don't know how to run a business," the older stylist said with a mocking laughter in-between.

It was a calm morning and the beach was not so crowded. There were people moving around, different types of people and all came for different purposes. Logan and Arielle had decided to come to the beach, actually it had been Logan's idea as he had told Arielle that he would want them to do something different. So he had suggested that they visit the beach. Sitting down close to the water on the warm sand. Both in their underwear, basking in the cool ocean breeze moving softly around them, they observed the people around. There were a few surfers out on the water, riding the waves with ease. There were also couples around, most of them walking along the shoreline while orders were seated just like Logan and Arielle. That wasn't all, there were children too, children running around, chasing each other and laughing Between Logan and Arielle was a small cooler with bottles of juice and a plate of roasted meat wrapped in foil that they had picked up on their way here. Arielle bit in

  • CHAPTER 40 : Everything Is Gone

Elliott Blackthorn stepped out of the second vehicle. He was a man in his late fifties, with silver hair slicked back and sharp, he was wearing a well-tailored suit with a calm expressionless look on his face. Elliott walked toward Brent, and the bodyguards flanked him on either side."Brent," Elliott said with a nod."Elliott," Brent nodded, grateful that Elliott had showed up. . "Thank you for coming."Elliott gestured toward the red door. "Let's talk inside."Together, they walked into the building. The interior was mostly empty, just concrete floors and exposed beams. There was a single table in the center of the space with two chairs.Elliott sat down in one of the chairs and motioned for Brent to sit in the other. The bodyguards remained standing near the door, their eyes sharp as they watched everything.Brent sat down and leaned forward, his hands clasped together on the table."Elliott, I need your help," Brent said. His voice was raw with desperation. "The Lancasters took

  • CHAPTER 39 : I Need Help

Before Brent drove off leaving the chaos behind, he sat in the car, the reporters all over the place, his hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles turned white. He couldn't move nor think straight. Everything was gone. Just like that, in one morning, everything he had worked for, everything earned, had been ripped away from him. The company, his position, his power, all of it was now in the hands of the Lancasters. He could still remember the smile Bright had on his face while watching as the board members announced that CGT Corporation had been officially sold. He had signed that agreement with Logan. Actually he had somehow thought the Lancasters were here to help. It was only news that CGT was suffering and wallowing in debt. But since there was somehow a way that the Lancasters had figured that out, and when Logan came to propose the partnership, Brent had thought it would be for his own benefit. But Logan had outsmarted him. Logan had destro

Bright was standing near the window, his hands in his pockets, looking completely at ease.Brent's blood ran cold immediately. "What the hell is this?" Brent demanded, stepping into the room. "What's going on? Why was I not informed about this meeting?"The board members exchanged glances. No one spoke."Answer me!" Brent shouted.Gerald, the head of the board, stood up slowly. "Brent, we need you to stay calm.""Stay calm?" Brent repeated. His voice was rising now "You call a meeting in my company without telling me, you bring in strangers, and you want me to stay calm?"Gerald opened his mouth to respond, but before he could, Bright moved.Bright walked away from the window, crossed the room, and sat down in the chair at the head of the table. The CEO's chair. Brent's chair.Brent stared at him, his mind struggling to process what he was seeing."What are you doing?" Brent said slowly. "That's my seat."Bright had a near sympathetic look on his face. The cinema was nearly empty when Logan and Arielle arrived. It was a Tuesday afternoon, and most people were at work or school. The theater was a luxury one. Logan had chosen an action movie, something light and entertaining and Arielle had agreed to it. They sat in the back row with a large bucket of popcorn between them.Arielle reached for a handful of popcorn and glanced at Logan. "You know, I can't remember the last time I went to the movies during the day like this.""Me neither," Logan admitted with a small smile. The last time he had gone to a cinema, it wasn't one as luxurious as this and he had squeezed from his last penny to take Vanessa on that date. "But I figured we both needed a break. No work, just a couple of hours to relax." He added. "I like that," Arielle said softly. She settled back into her seat as the lights dimmed and the previews began. The movie was exactly what they needed. Explosions, car chases, etc, it was just pure entertainment. When the movie end

It's sad honestly, really sad. So many people are going to lose their jobs."Hearing all of these, Vanessa felt like the floor had dropped out from under her. She gripped the armrests of her chair so tightly that her knuckles turned white. Maybe the armrests would have shattered if they were made of glass. Miranda, who had been focused on Vanessa's hai
