Chapter 1
001 Free Bird
The gates of Montserrat Prison clanged open to release a prisoner.
A tall man in ordinary clothes walked out, having served his three-year conviction term.
"I can finally be with my family again,"
Tyler said aloud, shielding his eyes with his hand from the bright noon sun.
He didn't turn back to look at the prison facade.
Montserrat was a maximum-security prison, home to the most heinous and dangerous criminals in the world.
But Tyler never belonged to this living hell.
Three years ago, Tyler stood on the cusp of glory—top grad, dream job.
And Erica Sinclair, his stunning childhood love, one of the prettiest girls in town, just said yes to his proposal.
Then came the nightmare. Trent Cooper, a rich playboy with a twisted obsession for Erica, ambushed them in a drunken rage.
"If you won't be my girlfriend, I'll make you my girlfriend by force!" the billionaire brat roared, dragging Erica into his car.
Tyler fought back, managing to save her. In the scuffle, the drunken Trent loses his balance and breaks his own arm.
Trent cried assault, and with the Cooper family owning the local police, Tyler got framed.
Nobody believed his story and a corrupt trial judge sentenced him to three years at Montserrat prison.
Tyler let out of a sigh. Finally, it was done.
But Montserrat prison had left him some souvenirs.
He eyed the uncharacteristic tattoo on his own right bicep, the six-wings, called the Seraphim sigil.
It was not a prison souvenir but one given to him by Butch Salvatore, one of the other inmates serving a life sentence.
Butch was an eccentric old man who claimed to be the leader of a mysterious group.
Most other inmates considered Butch a deluded old psychopath and avoided him, but Tyler befriended the man and showed him kindness.
One day Butch invited him to his practice sessions.
"I suffered a near-fatal attack from my enemies many years back," he told the young man. "It took most of my life energy to heal myself. My life is about to end soon. However, I see innate talent in you, Tyler. I can teach you to master invincible skills that will aid you in reaching the pinnacle of the world. It won't be an easy or enjoyable path. Will you accept your destiny?"
Tyler was both skeptical and intrigued by Butch's tall claims.
In the end, he decided to put them to the test. From that day onwards, he spent his time in prison as Butch Salvatore's disciple.
The old man put him through hell to learn martial arts and abilities.Eventually, Tyler realized Butch's claims were not imaginary.
Just before Tyler's release from prison, Butch imprinted this tattoo on his arm.
"Someone will be waiting for you outside," he instructed in a serious tone. "I don't have anything of material value to give to you right now. However, you are my true legacy; everything I own is yours. There’s a place hidden from the maps—Wings Island. You must go there when you’re ready. "
Tyler didn't really expect anything else from Butch.
But indeed, someone was waiting for him outside the prison.
A tall, athletic woman dressed in rugged leather leaned on a Harley Davidson. Her eagle-green eyes scrutinized him.
"Are you Tyler?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, I am. Butch Salvatore said you'd have gifts for me."
Three years back, Tyler would have been intimidated by such a perfectly sculpted female.
However, the new and improved Tyler had drastically changed. He was tall, lean, and muscular. An air of confidence and indifference surrounded him.
"I'm Britta, Butch's granddaughter," she said, handing him a paper bag. "There are three gifts inside. Handle them carefully. I’ll drop you at Sapphire City now."
Tyler nodded and pocketed the bag.
Britta handed him a phone before leaving.
"My number is in the phonebook. Call me whenever you need anything. "
Tyler breathed in the city air as he walked down a familiar street.
Sapphire City had barely changed, Tyler slowly walked up the street he was raised in.
As he made the turn towards his ancestral home, the scene shocked him to the core.
His parents' home looked decrepit and run-down, as if thirty years had passed.
Mold and creepers grew on the walls while the boundary itself was crumbling.
There were cracks on the facade, and the garden was overgrown with grass and weeds.
Tyler took a moment to process the bizarre scenery.
What tragedy had struck the Grants while he was gone?
It had been only three years! The city itself had prospered, but his ancestral home had turned into ruins!
The Grant family had never been billionaires, but Tyler's father owned a mini-mall in the city. He made enough money to keep his family in comfort.
Tyler approached the porch and rang the doorbell. However, the power was out, and the bell was useless.
He knocked on the door. After five minutes, he heard the sound of rolling wheels, and someone opened the door.
The figure that emerged from the shabby house was that of a wizened old woman in a wheelchair.
She had disheveled hair and was dressed in tattered clothes.
"Who is it?" she asked with a pained tremor in her voice.
Tyler's heart did a double-take.
The shriveled woman before him was none other than his own mother, Ruth Grant!
She seemed to have aged twenty years and was pinned to a wheelchair!
What the hell happened while he was gone?
"Mom, it's me. Tyler. Don’t you recognize me?"
"Tyler… Is it really you?" she stammered, raising a trembling hand to touch his bearded face.
"Yes…" He figured his unkempt hair, scraggly beard, and rugged physique made him look quite different from the boyish young man she remembered from three years ago.
Tears of mixed emotion streamed down Ruth's eyes as she pulled her son towards her and hugged him. "Am I dreaming…? I can't believe it… You're finally back…"
"Mom. What happened while I was gone?" Tyler asked with concern.
"Why is our home in this dilapidated condition? What happened to your legs? Why do you look so unwell?"

The Gilded Man With A Thousand Lives 312 Queen of Mermaids
Marsha's skin was porcelain, and her lips were bee-stung. Behind her, a powerful tail flipped that could behead a man with a light swish. Yet, she walked with a grace that could only be defined as royal. The Queen surfaced before THE BUTCH. She levitated from the water, as if carried by a cloud. As she landed on the deck, surrounded by servant mermaids, the wood turned to reeds, soil, and grass.Tyler noticed he had forgotten to breathe for a dozen seconds. He was suddenly reminded of the goddess Aphrodite's prediction. "The fairest of them all is not on this metal vessel. She lives on soil and grass, on clouds and mist."Water cascaded from the Queen's form erotically. The naval officers and staff, regardless of their pain and suffering, were entranced by her unearthly beauty."You wield my husband's trident," Marsha declared. "But you are no Poseidon. He abandoned me. His Queen, the love of his immortal life, that too for a frail human woman.""When I protested, he cursed me to the

"Noooo!""Aaaargh!""Helppp!""Monsters!!"The decks of the Petra ships, once slick with saltwater, were now splashed with blood. They echoed with the ghastly snarls of hungry sirens and the desperate cries of dying crew members.Tyler stood on The Butch's main deck, his mind racing. His form was a whirlwind of motion. Mystical threads lashed out like golden whips to grapple at the sirens that swarmed over the sides like slugs.Yara was in her complete Lilith form, fighting beside him. Her claws raked through a siren's scaled hide, spraying blue-black blood. "These aquatic bitches are tough!" she snarled, decapitating another with a swipe that sent the head rolling into the fog.Mamushi cowered behind an overturned crate, not far away from Tyler. The latter had made her swear to take cover. However, she was participating in the fight as well. Her small hands glowed with nascent energy, firing bursts of red energy that singed a mermaid's tail. "Dad! They're everywhere!" she cried out.

Tyler stood at the railing of THE BUTCH looking into the distance. The superyacht's deck was still slick with seawater from his recent ordeal. The Pacific stretched endlessly, mocking his progress toward Wings Island. His eyes scanned the remaining escort ships. The number was now reduced to eight destroyers and frigates. They flanked the yacht in a tight V-formation.Tyler's mind lingered on Amelia. Her final kiss in the dream, and her sacrifice in reality, was a weight that pressed on him like an anchor. "Little Amelia deserved better," he muttered to himself.Kat and Mamushi approached Tyler. His daughter stood beside him, her red wings tucked neatly against her back. She watched the sunset with wonder. Everything in the mortal world appeared like a fantasy to Mamushi.Kat flanked his other side. "How long are you going to brood?" the goddess asked, watching Mamushi giggle and point at jumping dolphins.Tyler sighed. "Probably forever. What do you do to honor the dead in Tialocan,

The Gilded Man With A Thousand Lives 309 A Dream of Paradise
Amelia took the first step into the water. Her foot broke the surface with a soft ripple. The warmth enveloped her immediately, seeping into her muscles like liquid sunlight, dissolving the accumulated fatigue from days of survival on the island. It was the exact opposite of the pain she experienced when drinking demon blood."It's... incredible," she murmured, wading deeper until the water lapped at her thighs, then her waist. Her skin tingled with rejuvenation.Tyler watched the beauty, her curves silhouetted against the rising steam. It was one of the most erotic spectacles of his life. The water droplets traced glistening paths down her full breasts and along the graceful curve of her hips."Come in," she urged him with a smile. "What are you waiting for?"Tyler stepped in after her and gauged the water body's spiritual pressure. "This is better than the aquifer that I have back home. In fact, it has an exponentially larger reserve.""Forget that!" Amelia said, pouting. "Let's enj

The Gilded Man With A Thousand Lives 308 Hidden Treasure
The deserted island was a kind of Eden for Tyler and Amelia, with its golden beaches, blue lagoons, and vibrant jungles teeming with life. The two often spent their time near beautiful waterfalls, enjoying the bounty of nature.Even though time passed, no ships came on the horizon, no planes flew overhead. Tyler and Amelia fell into a rhythm of survival. Day by day, it chipped away at the walls between them.Their mornings began with exploration, as they ventured into the heart of the jungle. Tyler led the way, his senses sharpened by years of cultivation. He spotted faint trails through the underbrush. Amelia followed closely, her makeshift leaf skirt resembling Jane's with Tarzan. She gathered edible berries from low-hanging bushes and plucked tubers from the soil."These are safe," she said one morning, holding up a cluster of tart, red fruits. Tyler ate them and got food poisoning for a day. They laughed about it later. They went hunting at noon. Tyler had crafted spears from stra

Bubbles escaped her lips in frantic bursts. Saltwater filled her lungs as she thrashed weakly with the bit of energy left.Amelia's body sank deeper into the oceanic abyss. She saw the light from above fading to a distant memory. "This is it," she thought with resignation. "Drowning alone, unloved. Isn't it a fitting end for a monster like me? It's okay. I accept death."Her vision blurred as darkness crept from the edges. The girl's body turned numb, and she felt nothing. All of a sudden, something moved above her.Having no energy left, Amelia was blind and increasingly deaf. A hazy figure loomed over her in the murk.Something pressed against her lips. It was warm and strong, forcing air into her starving lungs. She gasped instinctively, as the oxygen came as a shock of life in the ocean's deathly chill.A man? Giving her air mouth-to-mouth? The figure's hands gripped her shoulders, steadying her as more breaths followed. "Who is it...?" she wondered. But exhaustion claimed her, an

APOCER .S
it seemed to have potential in the beginning but I now realise that was my misplaced nostalgia from reading A man like no other, the story isn't necessarily bad but it's definitely not good either, that coupled with the decades it takes to get an update makes it unworthy to follow here onwards, bye
