“Yes, Serena! Why would I lie? Do something now!Talk to Michael. Tell him to talk to the manager. I’m not standing out here like some beggar! This is humiliating! My future son-in-law is a platinum member of this restaurant—I have every right to be inside!” Tessa shouted.

“Mom, I’ll tell him right away. We’ll get you inside, and they’ll regret treating you like this. Just wait a few minutes,” Serena said before ending the call, her voice filled with anger.

She slammed her glass down, startling Michael, who sat across from her. “Damon followed me here. I knew it. That leech doesn’t know when to give up! And my mother is stuck outside now because of him. God damn knows what trick he used!”

Michael raised a brow, his voice calm but laced with arrogance. “Don’t worry. The manager here, Vincent, is a friend. I’ll get your mother in. And that bastard? We’ll deal with him later.”

Serena felt a small spark of satisfaction. Michael won’t let this go. They’ll regret it.

Michael pulled out his phone with practiced confidence and dialed.

The line connected.

“Michael, this better not be about that woman outside,” Vincent’s voice snapped through the speaker, sharp and unamused.

Michael blinked. “It is. That’s my fiancée’s mother. Just let her in—”

“She’s making a scene. And frankly, I’m already regretting letting you in tonight,” Vincent growled. “Do you even know who’s here?”

Michael frowned. “Some VIP, I assume?”

“Not just any VIP,” Vincent hissed. “Simon Scott and the CEO of Vespera Corporation are hosting someone even more important upstairs. I’m not risking that guest’s experience over your girlfriend’s mother!”

“One more outburst from her, not only will she be banned, you and your little girlfriend are out too. Permanently.”

The call cut.

Michael stared at his phone for a beat, his face stormy.

Simon Scott was not just anyone. He was  the president of the city's largest chamber of commerce, and the right-hand man of one of the most influential figures in the business world. And the CEO of Vespera Corporation? That was a man who held the power to make or break careers.

They were someone he could not afford to offend. And here he was, dragged into unnecessary trouble because of Serena’s mother’s arrogance.

 That damn woman!

He turned sharply to Serena. “Tell your mother to go home. Now.”

Serena’s brows furrowed. “What? Michael, she’ll lose it—”

“If she doesn’t leave, we’re getting kicked out too. The CEO of Vespera Corporation is here. And someone even more powerful than him. Do you want to lose your deal?”

Serena hesitated, her nails digging into her palm. “No… of course not.”

“Then make the call.”

She nodded stiffly and pressed dial.

“Mom,” she said as soon as the line picked up, her voice low and tight. “You need to leave. Now.”

“What?! Serena, are you out of your mind?!”

“If you don’t go now, Michael’s membership will be revoked. The manager’s furious. There are important people here—people who could end my partnership with Vespera.”

Tessa gasped. “That’s not my problem—”

“If you don’t leave now,” Serena snapped, “don’t bother calling me again. You’ve embarrassed me enough.”

Silence.

Then a bitter huff. “Fine. But you owe me this.”

The call ended.

Serena dropped the phone onto the table, exhaling slowly.

“She’s gone,” she muttered.

Michael nodded, tension easing slightly. “Good.”

They sat in silence for a moment before curiosity crept back into Serena’s voice.

“Who do you think the third guest is?”

Michael’s eyes gleamed. “Someone big. If the CEO of Vespera and Simon Scott are acting like assistants tonight, that person must have real power.”

Serena’s gaze turned thoughtful. “If we could just meet him…”

Michael smirked. “If we play it right tonight, maybe we will.”

Serena’s eyes narrowed. “And meanwhile, that bastard Damon just walks in like a king.”

Michael chuckled. “Forget him. He’s nothing. But that VIP? That’s someone worth chasing.”

Meanwhile, at the top floor of the restaurant.

“Where is Boss? Are they still making him wait?” Anthony’s voice was low as he glanced at the elevator. He paced the room, his fists clenched, barely holding back his frustration.

Simon sat calmly at the table, his fingers pressed together, looking thoughtful. “Relax, Anthony. He’ll be here soon. I’m sure the manager has taken care of it.”

“Relax?” Anthony snapped, turning to Simon. “Boss isn’t the kind of man who likes to be kept waiting or made angry.”

Simon raised an eyebrow, still calm. “If they were making him wait and upsetting him, he would have called you again by now.”

Anthony glared at him but said nothing. He just kept pacing, fear clear in every step.

The elevator dinged softly, and both men turned as the doors slid open. Damon stepped out, his presence filling the room. His face was calm, but there was a sharpness in his eyes that made Anthony stand up straight immediately.

“Boss,” Anthony said with a slight bow, his voice tight with relief. “You’re here.”

Just wait… you’ll find out where we’re going," Damon replied calmly, his eyes fixed on the road.Celia let out a slow sigh. She turned her face to the window, watching the surroundings slip past. They drove by the very spot where she once handed a starving boy a piece of bread, the place where she unknowingly saved his life. A small, bittersweet smile touched her lips as the memories washed over her.Who would have ever thought that boy was Damon, and that she was the little girl who had saved him?Damon’s voice pulled her back to the present, and she turned to face him."I’m glad you still remember this place… because it means everything to me. It’s where I first met you," he said quietly.Celia’s smile wi

Damon got into his car and released a slow breath. It was another day, and he wondered what would happen today, what drama and what problems might come. But he quickly shook the thought away, because no matter what happened, he was going to handle it—or even stop it before it started. He would never let Celia worry again.“Damn it, Anthony hasn’t called me yet,” Damon muttered as he pulled out his phone, ready to dial his number. Just then, it started to ring. It was Anthony.“Damon…” Anthony began. In order not to offend him, he had gotten used to calling him by his name, just as Damon had requested.“I was just about to call you. How is it?” Damon asked.“I needed to make sure everything was ready and perfect before I contacted you. But now it is. All the documents are ready, and everything is officially yours,” Anthony said.“Good,” Damon replied. “I’ll call you if I need anything else.”“Okay, Damon,” Anthony said, and the call ended.“I’m very sure Celia is going to love this, an

Michael pushed open the door to his mother's room. Mrs. Thorne lay propped against pillows, her face pale but alert, what if Serena comes back now? When she saw him, her expression shifted from exhaustion to something harder."Close the door," she said.Michael did, then moved to her bedside. "How are you feeling?""Like someone tried to kill me." Her eyes were sharp despite her weakened state. "Because someone did."Michael's stomach dropped. "What?""That woman. Serena." Mrs. Thorne's hand gripped the bed rail. "She came in here yesterday. I was barely conscious, but I remember. She stood over me. She said something about how I should have treated her better. Then she tried to stab me in the neck, Michael—she tried to kill me...""Mom—""I know what I saw." Mrs. Thorne's voice cracked. “I tried to move, I tried to call for help, but I couldn’t. I could see it in her eyes; she would have killed me if something hadn’t interrupted her. Then I passed out.”Michael felt cold spread throu

  • Chapter 172

Serena sat on the hospital bed, her fingers tracing circles over her still-flat stomach. A smirk played at the corners of her mouth as she watched Michael pack her belongings into a small duffel bag. Everything had changed so fast. Just yesterday, he’d been cold and distant, talking about walking away because he blamed her for what they had both caused. She was glad she didn’t let him. Now he was fussing over her pillows, asking if she needed water, making sure she had everything. All because of the baby. "You comfortable?" Michael asked without looking up. "Yeah." Serena's smirk widened. "Just thinking about how lucky our baby is going to be. Having both of us." Michael's hands paused for just a second on the zipper. "Yeah. Lucky." Inside, he wanted to laugh. Lucky? The kid would be lucky if Serena wasn't around to poison it with her schemes and manipulation. But she didn't need to know that yet. Let her think she'd won. Let her believe the baby had secured her place by his si

"Alexander, I'll do it."Vivienne forced the words out, her throat tightening as they broke out of her mouth.Alexander's finger relaxed slightly on the trigger. "What did you say?""I said I'll do it." Vivienne's voice was hollow now, emptied of everything except resignation. "I'll cut Damon out of my life. I won't see him anymore. I won't talk to him. I'll only speak to women from now on, just like you want."She couldn't look at Damon as she said it. Couldn't bear to see whatever expression was on his face."Vivienne—" Damon started with a scoff."Don't." Her voice cracked. "Please don't make this harder than it already is."Alexander slowly lowered the gun, a triumphant smile spreading across his face. The kind of smile that made Vivienne's stomach turn."I knew you'd make the right choice," Alexander said, stepping toward her. "You see? This is why we're perfect for each other. You understand what needs to be done."He reached out to touch her face, but Vivienne stepped back inst

  • Chapter 170

"What..." Vivienne's voice cracked, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Alexander, what the heck are you saying? Damon never laughed at me. He never disrespected you. You're the one who dragged him into this mess in the first place." She stepped forward, her hands shaking but her words sharp. "So stop making things up, thinking you could hurt him with your accusations and make me hate him. It won't work."But Alexander wasn't listening. His jaw was tight, his eyes dark with something that looked like madness. The kind of madness that comes from a man who's used to getting everything he wants and suddenly realizes he could lose the one thing he truly desires."You said he never disrespected me," Alexander said, his voice dangerously low, "but he just did. Right now. And you didn't do anything about it." He took a step closer to Vivienne, his presence suffocating. "And Vivienne? You of all people know who I am. You know how powerful I am. You know what I can do when someone crosses me."Vivi
