Chapter 1
"You disgust me."
Damon glared at the woman standing before him—his wife, Serena, his voice cold.
His fists clenched, his jaw tight with anger. The woman he had once loved and cherished, now looking at him with cold indifference.Across from him, Serena crossed her arms, her expression unreadable. "Lower your voice, Damon," she said, sounding annoyed rather than guilty. "There's no need for this drama."
"No need?" Damon's voice was sharp with disbelief. "I just caught my wife cheating, and you expect me to stay calm?" He stepped closer, his eyes burning into hers. "How long, Serena? How long have you been making a fool out of me?"
Just moments ago, Damon had received photos from his subordinate, Anthony. Pictures of Serena and another man entering a hotel room—intimate, undeniable proof of her betrayal. He had trusted her completely, never once imagining he'd see her like that with another man.
But now, she wasn't even denying it.
Serena sighed, as if bored with the conversation already. "Does it even matter? We were bound to end anyway, Damon. I was just waiting for the right moment."
"The right moment?" His anger turned ice-cold. "You were waiting for the right moment to betray me?"
Serena let out a short laugh and shook her head. "Don’t be so dramatic. It’s not betrayal. It’s just… moving on."
Damon stared at her, his fury twisting into something more painful. "Moving on? Is that what you call sleeping with another man behind my back?"
Serena rolled her eyes. "I won’t apologize for doing what’s best for me. You and I both know this marriage has been pointless for a long time." She lifted her chin, her voice unwavering. "I want a divorce, Damon."
For a moment, everything went silent. The words hung in the air, heavy and suffocating.
Damon took a slow breath, trying to control the storm raging inside him. "So that’s it? You’re throwing me away like I meant nothing?"
Serena smirked slightly. "You already are nothing, Damon." She tilted her head, her gaze sharp. "Be honest with yourself. What have you really done for me all these years? Your existence has been nothing but a burden."
Damon’s hands trembled—not from weakness, but from the sheer force of the betrayal cutting through him. "A burden?" His voice was dangerously quiet. "Serena, I’ve done everything for you."
She scoffed. "Oh, please. Don’t act like you’ve been some great husband. My success? That was my doing, not yours. You had nothing to do with it."
Damon let out a bitter laugh. "Nothing to do with it?"
Serena sighed, clearly impatient. "Look, Damon. I’m with someone else now. Someone who can actually take me to the top."
His stomach twisted, but he forced himself to stay composed. "Michael, right?" He said bitterly. Michael was the man in the photos—the one Serena had betrayed him with.
Her smirk widened. "Smart man."
Damon clenched his fists so hard his nails dug into his palms. "You really think he's the reason you just landed that partnership with Vespera Corporation?"
Serena shrugged. "Of course. Who else could have made it happen? Michael has connections with the biggest names in the industry. Thanks to him, Vespera Corporation agreed to the deal. With this contract, my company will rise to the top, and nothing will stop me."
He stared at her, unreadable. Then, a dark chuckle slipped past his lips. “You really believe that?”
Her brows drew together. “What are you getting at?”
Damon stepped forward, his voice dropping to a cold murmur. “Have you ever bothered to ask who the chairman of Vespera Corporation is?”
She blinked, hesitating. Then scoffed. “What does that matter?”
A cruel smile tugged at his mouth. “Everything.”
She rolled her eyes. “Oh, don’t tell me it’s you. Save me the fantasy, Damon. You’ve always been a nobody. Don’t embarrass yourself!”
“Is that what you think?” he murmured, his voice almost amused.
In truth, he was the chairman of Vespera Corporation. Every major deal Serena thought Michael had secured for her—those so-called connections—had actually come through him.
He had once planned to tell her everything after this deal was made.
But now? There was no longer any reason to.
“Enough!” she snapped, yanking a stack of documents from her bag and tossing them at him. “I’m done with your games. Sign the divorce and get out of my life.”
Damon looked down at the papers, his chest tight with betrayal. Then slowly, he picked up a pen.
“As you wish.”
Without hesitation, he signed, then tossed the documents back onto the table.
And without another word, he turned and walked out, the door clicking softly behind him.
As he stepped outside, a line of luxury cars was parked at the entrance. A group of bodyguards in black suits stood waiting for him.
"Good evening, Boss!" they greeted in unison, bowing respectfully.

After the crash, everything went still. For a moment, all Celia could hear was a ringing in her ears.“Damon!” she gasped, her voice choked with panic. “Are you okay?”“I’m fine,” Damon’s voice was steady, a calm anchor in the chaos. He was already unbuckling his seatbelt, his eyes scanning her for any injuries. “Are you hurt? Anything broken?”“No, I… I don’t think so,” she stammered, touching a small cut on her arm where a piece of glass had nicked her. “Just a little cut.”The front of their rental car was completely destroyed, crumpled like a piece of paper. The other car, a sleek, expensive-looking sports car, had a dented bumper but seemed otherwise fine. The door of the other car swung open, and a young man stumbled out, looking more annoyed than concerned.“What the hell was that?” the man slurred, glaring at them. “Some people shouldn’t be allowed on the road. You came out of nowhere.”Damon’s expression hardened. “We were in our lane. You swerved into us.”The man scoffed, w

"You don’t have to tell me if it makes you uncomfortable. I’m sorry for asking—I didn’t mean to push," Celia said gently, noticing Damon’s reaction. She could see the way his expression shifted, the tension in his jaw. The question clearly unsettled him, and she instantly felt guilty for bringing it up.Damon stared into space for a moment, lost in thought. The word family brought back memories—how they had cast him out that night, without mercy, even though he was just a child."Damon, I’m really—" Celia began, thinking he was upset with her for asking too many questions. But before she could finish, Damon cut her off."I don’t have a family," he said flatly. "My mother is dead. Since then, I’ve had no one. I’m completely alone in this world—and honestly, that’s better."Celia gasped softly. He didn’t seem angry or even uncomfortable, but something about the way he spoke… it felt like he was hiding the pain, masking it so he wouldn’t look broken."I'm sorry… I didn’t know. I shouldn’

“Don’t you dare touch me!” Serena screamed as the security guards began escorting them out.The guards had assumed Serena and Michael had already left quietly. But instead, they lingered near the entrance of the private lounge. Moments after Damon and Celia stepped out, Serena and Michael tried to sneak in, hoping to speak with Vivienne. They still believed she despised Damon and Celia and foolishly clung to the hope that she would take their side instead.“If you two don’t leave this airport completely in the next five minutes, you’ll be arrested!” the lead security guard snapped. “We’ve had enough of your nonsense today. We’ve tried to be respectful, but you two have proven to be complete idiots!”Serena and Michael gasped in shock. The security guards had already gotten into trouble for allowing them to loiter. Now, to avoid facing even harsher consequences, the guards were willing to be blunt and disrespectful—if that’s what it took to finally get Serena and Michael out.“You jus

"I'm not angry, Celia. Like I said, I'm just done with her. Honestly, if I were really angry, I wouldn't have even come with you in the first place to come see her."“Okay, if you say so. But I won’t blame you if you’re angry—honestly, you have every right to be, after what she did, she betrayed your friendship.” Celia said, giving Damon a soft smile that told him she wasn’t judging him at all.Damon returned the smile, feeling pleased by her words. She understood things clearly and didn’t jump to conclusions, even when she hadn’t fully grasped everything yet. He couldn’t help it—his heart played a little trick on him, racing at the sight of her beautiful smile.“But she said she misunderstood you. Maybe there’s more to it than you think. Just listen to her—you might finally understand what really happened,” Celia said gently.“She had every chance to explain herself while we were inside, but she didn’t say a word. I’m not wasting any more time on her. I’ve already put her—and everyth

Damon looked at Celia with a gentle expression. "Have you seen her enough?" he asked softly."What do you mean?" Celia asked, still confused by everything that had happened."I mean, are you ready to go?" Damon said. "Anthony told me that after this, you should come to the company. There's something you need to do there."Celia looked at him, then at Vivienne, who was still standing there with pain in her eyes. "Oh," she said quietly. "Yes, I guess we should go."She didn't want to leave. She hadn't gotten the chance to speak with Vivienne properly or tell her how much she admired her. But with all these emotions between Damon and Vivienne, she felt like she couldn't do anything. The whole situation left her confused. She was curious about what had really happened between Damon and Vivienne. Questions kept circling in her mind.Damon had once been friends with Vivienne Ashford—the famous heiress. That wasn’t something just anyone could pull off, even with Anthony’s support. Damon had

“What…?” Celia whispered, the word barely a sound. She looked at Damon, her eyes wide with a million questions. “Damon, what is she… You know her?” He never said a word about this—not once. Even when she spoke about Vivienne—yesterday and again today, he acted as if Vivienne Ashford were a stranger, a distant icon Celia admired from afar. But this... this was not the look of a stranger. This was something deeper. “Damon, please,” Vivienne said again, her voice soft and trembling. The confident, unshakable woman from the photos was gone, replaced by someone vulnerable. “I can’t believe you’re really here. After all this time, I’ve been looking… I’ve been looking for you for years.” Damon remained silent. His posture was rigid, his jaw set like stone. If Celia looked closely, she could see a muscle twitching along his jawline. The air around him had grown impossibly cold. It wasn’t the calm indifference he’d shown Serena and Michael; this was different. This was a deep, chilling a

One-Love
This book is great I must say. I just love the way Damon is giving Serene, his ex-wife, and Michael, now Serene's fiancé, back to back. This book is a good-to-go-must-read book. Kudos to the author!
