Adeline thought hard. There was no way the documents could be valid—she hadn’t authorized them.

She ran everything through her mind quickly.

Only her signature had been on the documents, making them invalid. So how had Tedmond managed to use them?

Then it hit her.

“I think I know who did it,” she said.

While the others bombarded her with questions, their voices barely registered. Her brain refused to believe that the lawyer could have done something like this.

“Stop ordering me around, damn it!” she finally snapped. “Anyway... I think the person behind it was that damn lawyer, Benedict.”

At the mention of Benedict, it was like a switch had flipped in the room. The entire family’s minds clicked into place.

The documents must have been forged by him—and Adeline had walked into the hospital with him. He was the only outsider who knew about them, and ironically, he was the one who told her they were invalid.

They exchanged glances, frowns forming on every face.
