“Hey! Make sure you find him. Don’t let him escape!” Jugana shouted, his voice booming through the church. “We’re going to catch him. We’re going to serve him justice… just like we’ll serve these girls here.”

“Yes, sir!” the thugs replied, spreading out, checking every row, moving from chair to chair.

Dane crouched low, heart pounding. He moved silently, inching from one spot to another, keeping low behind the wooden pews. The church creaked with every step and whisper.

We have to do something… he thought.

The wooden chairs had spaces between the slats—just wide enough to see through.

Dane slid his gun into the gap.

He aimed.

A single shot echoed. One of the men dropped instantly.

Bang!

Another shot—another man down.

Panic began to rise in the others. “Where did that come from?” one shouted.

Bang! A third fell.

Bang! A fourth.

Bang! A fifth.

Screams filled the church as the sound of the bullets bounced off the stone walls.

“I don’t have a problem with you,” Dane said. “But ever since I joined the Mafia, people in the same crew act jealous. I don’t get it. Is there something special about me I don’t know?”He leaned back slightly.“Not that it’s a bad thing. I mean, look—just talking to you right now? That’s a privilege. You probably don’t even realize it. Do you know how rare it is for someone to have a conversation with Butcher? He only talks to me. Not the others. Does he ever speak to any other Mafia members on this ship?”Jimmy blinked. “You’re right… Could that be it?” He paused, thinking. “Yeah. He really doesn’t talk to other people. I never put that together before.”“I’ve always wondered why they envy me,” Dane continued. “But that’s not the only thing. Some of these guys have worked for Butcher for over 15 years—and he’s never even noticed them. Meanwhile, I show up, still a rookie… and he sees me. Talks to me. You think that wouldn’t get under their skin?”Jimmy gave a small nod. “Yeah… that

  • The Line I Won’t Cross

He was walking. They were both following him. He turned.“Why are you guys still following me?”He wasn’t wearing a suit—his shirt had been removed during treatment. He was topless. The medical team had taken it off while tending to his wounds. The two girls looked down at first, then slowly raised their heads and met his gaze.“You see… we don’t actually have money to go home,” Gina said. “And we don’t know anyone here. You’re the only person we know. That’s it.”“Oh! Sorry—my bad,” Dane replied. “I don’t have any money on me right now. But let me go to my room. Let me take a shit. You can follow me if you want.”They kept following him. When they reached his room, the two girls sat on the bed. Dane walked over to his closet. He paused, then turned and looked at them. Why am I getting excited? he thought. No… I didn’t think this through. I shouldn’t have let them in here. I need to focus. Let me just put a shirt on first. He pulled out a shirt. As he glanced at them again, another th

  • After the Battle

After Dane fainted during treatment on the floor, the medics carefully picked him up and carried him into the medical room where they usually treated patients. They worked on him for about three hours, stitching his wounds and stabilizing his condition.Dane remained unconscious the entire time—until finally, his eyes fluttered open. He started breathing heavily, confused and dazed.“Did I make it? Did I make it?” he whispered. “I’m not feeling the pain anymore…”Then he slowly sat up. Ella and Gina were nearby, watching him closely. Ella quickly stepped forward.“Sir, please,” she said gently. “The medics said you shouldn’t push yourself.”He turned and looked at her in silence. It’s like I saved them… he thought. So I actually saved them…He slowly lifted one hand and placed it on his chest, then exhaled deeply. “Good,” he murmured.Just then, a voice came from across the room.“So, you actually proved me wrong.”Dane turned—and saw Jimmy leaning against the wall, arms crossed.“So

  • Still Breathing

“Let’s keep moving. We need to keep going,” Dane said as they rushed along the side of the church, trying to make their way to the front—toward his bike.As he moved, Dane suddenly collapsed. Ella and Gina quickly rushed to him, lifting him up and placing his arms over their shoulders.“Sorry… I’m sorry I’m stressing you,” Dane muttered weakly.“Don’t worry. You’re bleeding,” Gina said, her voice full of concern.Dane’s face was bruised, and his hand torn open. He had lost a lot of blood.“Oh no… this isn’t good. Feels like I’m about to pass out,” he said, swaying. He slowly removed his hand from the bottle he’d been clutching.“That’s right… don’t worry. I’ll be fine,” he said, forcing himself to keep going. Finally, they reached his bike. Dane climbed on and started the engine.“Grab on. Get on—both of you,” he said.Gina climbed on behind him, then Ella. The three of them squeezed onto the same bike.Despite the pain, Dane revved the engine and took off.His body was screaming, vis

As the police kept slamming the door—the entrance to the church—Ella ran to Dane, who was still punching Jugana.“Sir! Sir!” Ella kept calling his name. She grabbed his arm, trying to pull him back.Only then did Dane turn, finally realizing someone was talking to him.“Something is going on,” Dane said, dazed.“Sir, please, we have to leave. The police are here. What should we do? Stop punching him—we’re already here! What are we going to do?” Ella cried.Dane stood up from Jugana’s body and looked down at it. Jugana’s face was covered in blood, dripping down to his nose. His nose was already broken, bleeding heavily.“Hey! You two—follow me!” Dane shouted. He ran to the side of the church. Ella and Gina followed him quickly. There was a window in front of them, with a cross design carved into the glass. Now wearing only a white shirt, he moved forward, slowly unbuttoning the sleeves, dragging them up one by one. His steps were steady. Focused. Controlled.Jugana looked at him with wide, burning eyes.“You bastard… It’s all because of you… All because of you!” he shouted.“Yes,” Dane said coldly. “It’s all because of me. And today is your judgment. The Lord has sent me to give it to you.”He charged toward Jugana. In one swift motion, he leapt—his knee flying high into the air—slamming it directly into Jugana’s face.Jugana collapsed to the ground.Dane landed and dropped onto him, punching him—once, twice, again and again.“You bastard!” Dane yelled. “I don’t know what you think you are, but you’re a psychopath wearing the mask of a priest. You’ll never wear this again. Maybe you won’t even get t
