Handcuffed Not Helpless
He looked back at Dane with a cold expression. “Well, I don’t think you’re getting off this easy.” Robert straightened his uniform. “Tomorrow you’ll be discharged from this hospital.” He pointed a finger at Dane. “And the moment that happens, you’re going to be taken straight to court.” Robert turned around. The two officers walked toward the door. Without another word, they stepped out of the room and closed the door behind them. But As the officers walked away and the door closed behind them, the room became quiet again. A moment later, the nurse who had been standing nearby slowly walked closer to Dane’s bed. “Sir, please sit upright,” she said gently. “It’s time to eat.” Dane looked at her, then raised his cuffed hand slightly. “Well… how am I supposed to eat?” he said with a faint smirk. “One of my hands is handcuffed.” The nurse glanced at the cuff around his wrist and nodded. “Well, I’ll feed you,” she said calmly. “It’s just porridge.” Dane pause
Say Nothing
Dane didn’t answer. Not a word. His eyes flicked to the officers beside Robert, gauging them. Each one’s hand hovered near their weapon, ready to act. The cuffs dug into his wrist painfully, but he refused to flinch.Silence filled the room. Dane’s breathing was slow, controlled, though every inhale burned. His mind raced, calculating his next move.Robert’s eyes narrowed. “You think staying silent is going to save you? You’ve been caught in the middle of a war you don’t fully understand. Now, tell me—or it’s going to get worse.”Dane shifted slightly on the bed, testing the cuffs again. The pain in his chest throbbed with each movement, but his resolve was unwavering. He wasn’t giving them anything—not yet.“So you don’t plan on talking,” Officer Robert said coldly. “You intend to stay silent.”He crossed his arms as he stared down at Dane.“Do you think you will go to jail? You will. Massive gunfire in public, destroying people’s property—it was all seen on CCTV. You and those men w
Speak Now
“Let’s go! Let’s leave him, that bastard!”Leo shouted as his men found a clear path and ran off into the chaos.Dane was still hiding at the side of a car. Slowly, he pushed himself up, blood dripping down his body. He turned to check the street behind him. They were getting away.He squinted through the smoke and saw the flashing lights of a police car approaching. Panic surged in him, but before he could make a move, a searing pain shot through his chest. He coughed violently, blood splattering on the asphalt. The world spun around him as he collapsed to the ground. After what felt like an eternity, he slowly opened his eyes.“What the… where am I?” he muttered, his voice hoarse and weak.He blinked several times and took in his surroundings. The ceiling above him was white, sterile. The faint hum of fluorescent lights filled the room.Slowly, he pushed himself to sit up.“Damn it… did they get away?” he groaned, struggling to catch his breath. “Was Leo… and his men…?”He glanced t
Chain Reaction
He had rolled under the first car, then quietly crawled out the other side and slipped under the next parked vehicle. Staying low, he moved from car to car like a shadow sliding across the street. His body screamed in pain every time he moved, but he forced himself to keep going.Ha… they won’t find me, Dane thought, a faint smile appearing on his face despite the blood running down his head. This is going to be fun.I would have been dead any second if I had waited. He thought back to the moment just seconds earlier. He had been about to pull the trigger and shoot Leo.In that moment, Leo would have died. But it would have been reckless. The sniper in the building would have shot him immediately afterward. So Dane had made a split-second decision.Instead of firing, he rolled under the car the instant before the bullets came down from above. That was close, he thought.Very close. If he had hesitated even a fraction of a second, those bullets would have torn straight through him.Dan
Sniper’s Mistake
Even though it was faint and difficult to see, he noticed a figure inside one of the windows. Someone was standing there.Someone was watching him.For a brief moment, their eyes seemed to meet. The person suddenly moved their head away, but Dane caught a glimpse of something in their hands.A gun. That was when Dane quickly looked back at Leo.Leo’s men had already started advancing toward him. They moved slowly but steadily, surrounding him from different sides like wolves circling wounded prey. When Dane looked back at them, they suddenly stopped.Leo frowned slightly.“Hey,” Leo said, tilting his head. “What are you looking at? Don’t lose focus on me.”Dane let out a small breath.“Oh, you think I didn’t know already?” Dane said calmly.Leo raised an eyebrow.“I suspected it,” Dane continued. “Just across the street. That building there. There’s someone already waiting to kill me.”He slightly tilted his head toward the tall building.Leo’s smile slowly darkened.“Oh,” Leo said qu
Surrounded Again
Warm liquid ran down the side of his face.Blood.He pushed himself up quickly, ignoring the dizziness. His head throbbed violently, blood dripping down his cheek and onto his shirt.Leo stood a few meters away, breathing hard, eyes wild but sharp.“There’s no way for you to run,” Dane growled, not even raising his gun yet. His voice was low, dangerous. But then—Footsteps.Leo’s men had already closed the distance. They rushed in from both sides of the street, guns drawn.Civilians who had been watching froze for a split second — then chaos exploded.People screamed. Some dropped their bags and ran.Others pulled out their phones, shouting that they were calling the police.Cars that had been approaching immediately stopped and reversed. Some drivers made reckless U-turns. Horns blared. The entire road turned into panic.“Gun! Gun!” someone screamed.Dane wiped blood from his eye with the back of his hand. The bleeding was serious now. It soaked into his collar and dripped down his c
