CHAPTER 006

The next day, Rieka woke up early and went to Noah's room.

“Hey Noah, trust you had a good night rest? Just want to let you know that, I'm about to submit my CV to Top Notch Group. As you said, one can't conclude without giving a trial. I don't want to ever get downgraded by anyone because I don't earn a living. Will you accompany me?”

“Yes! Let me freshen up and get dressed. I'll be out in a jiffy.”

“When Rieka left his room, he jumped out of bed and got ready at a fast pace.

“Rieka was waiting in the sitting room.”

Since she was going to a well-known company, she had to look her best. She wore a pink fitted dress and her brown hair rolled into a ponytail. Indeed, she was a beauty to behold.

“Let's proceed.”

They got into the car and headed for Top Notch Group.

Suddenly, Rieka looked worried. “What if I get embarrassed there? I don't have an appointment with anyone there. How do I go about it?”

Noah sighed.

She had no idea of what awaited her at the company.

However, seeing that Rieka was having a double thought and was on the verge of changing her mind, he encouraged her. “You don't have to worry about that. By the way, it's a company anyone can walk into for different reasons. You can't back out now!”

Rieka smiled thinly. “I've got this, I'll try my luck.”

She wanted to show her family that something better could come out of her life. The months she worked as a bartender were because she was expecting her final year result and didn't want to be idle. She got her degree but couldn't make use of it cox of all she passed through.

Fiddling with the file in her hands, Rieka diverted the topic to what happened last night. “Dear, Senior Grichy was killed last night, the news is everywhere.”

“Grichy? I've heard that name before. It sounds familiar.”

The Grichy's were known far and near because of their influence and wealth.

Last night, the Grichy's hosted a banquet to celebrate their latest achievement of alliance with the Top Notch Group. Their company, Kendicles will have access to first-hand information and deals from Top Notch Group.

Senior Grichy also turned seventy.

Unfortunately, he was murdered on his birthday. An unknown person was present and killed Senior Grichy using a gun. The news was hot all over the place.

Oh no! Their day of celebration was turned into a day of mourning.

Rumors have it that the Grichys are out to seek justice by all means.

Noah pretended to be surprised and gave a pitiful look. “I haven't heard about it. I went to bed early and haven't seen the news headline.”

“The Grichys own the Kendicles right?”

“Yeah,” Rieka replied. “Kendicles is a great company and has grown big over the years. They have other businesses but it can't be compared to what Kendicles gives them daily. Kendicles will be ten times bigger with the deal they signed with Top Notch Group. My family's company, which is just trying to be firm is like an ant before kendicles.”

Soon, they arrived at the Top Notch Group company.

Top Notch Group belongs to the Kings' family. Their family business was intercontinental.

They exited the car.

The company was a twelve-story building and looked elegant and sophisticated.

As they approached the entrance, Rieka fidgeted. Noah had to hold her hand to calm her down.

She held her file tightly and approached the receptionist. “Good morning ma'am!”

A lady was sitting, her gaze was on the laptop before her. When she saw Rieka standing before her, she couldn't help but admire her.

Looking at her, she questioned. “How can we be of help to you?”

Calmly, Rieka said. “I am here to ask if there's a job vacancy or say I want to submit my credentials in case an opportunity comes up.”

The receptionist gave some mocking gaze at her, then spoke. “Well, there are no job vacancies now. And if you need a job, you have to book an appointment with the head of the company. You can also wait till you see placement for job opportunities.”

Rieka was heartbroken.

She was skeptical about coming in the first place but she didn't want to conclude without giving a trial.

The receptionist had other work to attend to. “If that will be all for now, please have a nice day. Bye!”

“T-Thank you,” Rieka managed to say.

She turned and went to meet Noah where he sat. “It didn't work, let's go home.”

Noah gave her hope. “You can't give up so soon. Try and see any of the directors to book an appointment.”

Then, a middle-aged man walked into the building.

The man wore a suit and tie, looking presentable and like a prosperous businessman.

The man was Gerald Ford, the manager of Top Notch Group.

Gerald adjusted his tie. Approaching Rieka, he was aroused and filled with lust. He did not pay attention to the fact that she was talking with another man. “Hi, I am the manager of this great firm. I can grant you all your requests.”

The receptionist was filled with jealousy when she saw Gerald talking to Rieka, she walked towards them faking a smile. “Manager, she's here to make inquiries about a job vacancy in our company. I've attended to her, many official duties are waiting for your attention, sir.”

The receptionist wanted to get into Gerald's bed by all means so she could be his mistress and get promoted at work.

Rieka's beauty was a threat to her plans.

Immediately, Gerald sighed and took charge of the discussion. “You can leave, I'll talk to her.” He ordered the receptionist.

She left hurriedly with her heels clinking loudly, throwing a disdainful look at Rieka.

Rieka spoke. “Yeah! All the receptionist said was correct. I'm here to look for a job, since there's none I'll try again some other time. I beg to take my leave.”

“Not so fast, what's your name?” Gerald asked.

“Rieka Fullams.”

Now that Gerald noticed from her voice that she was desperate to have a job, he wanted to take advantage of it.

Rieka was so beautiful that he couldn't let her slip away from his hands without having a taste.

He moved closer to her and whispered. “Rieka darling, you have nothing to worry about. I shouldn't be having an official discussion and keep a beautiful lady like you standing. My office is big enough and has an inner chamber which has a bedroom. All you have to do is come with me. With me, your job in Top Notch Group is a done deal.”
