“Still no food?”

The inside of the greenhouse was indeed much larger than before. However, aside from the empty room with soil covering the floor, there was nothing else inside.

Forget fruit-bearing trees or edible plants, even a single seed couldn't be found.

Adrian let out a sigh. He knew his biggest problem still hadn't been solved.

He still had to figure out how to obtain food.

“Let's see what other transformations this ability can bring.”

Lowering himself to the ground, Adrian extended his left hand and touched the earthen floor.

[Legendary Touch successful. The Greenhouse's soil is undergoing a mysterious transformation.]

“Yes!”

Adrian's eyes widened again.

This time, he was hoping that some plants would grow so he wouldn't have to go through the trouble of searching for food.

Brrrrruuu!

Brrrrruuu!

Brrrrruuu!

The ground beneath his feet shook violently.

Something seemed to be about to emerge from beneath it.

“Yes! Come out!”

Adrian was certain that a large number of plants would soon emerge.

However, instead of his expectations becoming reality, the greenhouse floor began producing blocks of natural stone from one point to another, gradually covering the entire floor.

Within just a few seconds, the earthen floor had transformed into a solid stone floor, except for a small section farther ahead.

Yet even then, instead of plants appearing, the remaining soil quickly shrank and separated into three circular sections.

Then, the stone foundations surrounding the three sections rose several dozen centimeters.

[Congratulations! Lord Galael, you have successfully activated the Weapon Altar in your Shelter. Throw in Energy Stones, and you will get the weapons of your choice.]

[Congratulations! You have successfully activated the Sacred Altar! Throw in a Soul Stone to summon a group of soldiers.]

[Congratulations! You have successfully activated the Healing Altar. Throw in an Attribute Stone to obtain a magical potion.]

A holographic notification appeared before Adrian each time one of the three platforms rose.

“I now have three altars with different functions? This really isn't bad at all!”

A wide smile spread across Adrian's lips.

With these altars, he could upgrade his Shelter according to his needs.

If he wanted to strengthen his defenses, he could use the Weapon Altar or the Sacred Altar.

And if he were injured, he could create a potion with the Healing Altar.

“But... no matter how amazing they are, don't I still need food?”

Exactly.

That was the main problem he needed to solve.

Without food, let alone upgrading his Shelter, he might even struggle just to survive.

“All right. I still have one chance left.”

With that, he placed his palm against the floor once again, hoping that this time he would obtain food.

“Let's see what this ability gives me.”

Bzzzzz!

[Legendary Touch failed. No transformation occurred. The Host has used all of his daily charges. Charges will reset at midnight.]

“Damn! So this can fail too!”

Grrr...

Grrr...

With no Touch charges remaining and his stomach growling, Adrian had only one option left.

He had to hunt for anything edible in the wilderness.

But he couldn't simply leave without preparing first.

Swiping through the pages on his screen, he selected a bow.

“100 Energy Stones? That's much more affordable!”

Against unknown monsters, the best choice was to attack from a distance.

Since firearms were far too expensive, a bow was the best option.

[Proceed purchasing.]

Beep!

The Weapon Altar seemed to form a vortex across its surface before a complete bow, along with a basket of arrows, emerged from it.

Even so, Adrian felt that it still wasn't enough.

He swept through the holographic screen before him again, checking whether there was anything else he could obtain from one of the other altars.

“An Anti-Contamination Elixir for 1,000 Attribute Stones?”

Among the names on the list, there was an elixir that would make his body immune to the effects of the red mist.

And although it required 1,000 Attribute Stones, Adrian felt it was worth trying.

In this New World, Elemental Stones were the most valuable resource, with each one equivalent to 10 Energy Stones and 100 Soul Stones or Attribute Stones.

Since Energy Stones were one tier higher in value, 1,000 Attribute Stones were equivalent to 100 Energy Stones.

Adding the cost of the bow, Adrian had now spent 200 of his Energy Stones.

[Proceed exchange 10 Energy Stones for 100 Attribute Stones.]

Beep!

After he pressed the button, 1,000 Attribute Stones were immediately added to his inventory, while his Energy Stone count dropped to 800.

[Proceed purchasing.]

A small glass bottle containing a green liquid appeared before him.

Adrian opened the cap and downed the entire contents.

“From now on, I don't need this anymore!”

He threw the mask off his face.

However, before leaving, he processed another 100 Energy Stones through the Weapon Altar.

Immediately, a Bronze-tier laser cannon appeared on top of the Greenhouse roof.

It could fire at targets up to twenty meters away, with a reload time of five seconds after each shot.

Although there wouldn't be any monster attacks for the next three days, Adrian knew he still had to be prepared in case something dangerous approached his Shelter, especially when he wasn't there.

Without any weapons, leaving the place undefended would be no different from allowing it to be destroyed without resistance.

After walking for nearly one kilometer, it didn't take long for Adrian's ears to pick up the faint sounds of a commotion.

Zink!

Zink!

Zink!

“Go away! All of you, go away!”

The sounds of clashing swords and a woman's shouting grew clearer as he approached.

“You bastards! You were the ones who forced me into this! So don't blame me if I kill every last one of you!”

“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni

“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.“What? No soldiers are appearing?”His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones. That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing. There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.“With reserves like these, I won’t h

“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”Jaxon was quick to add his own comment. Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.“Get some rest.”Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.Al

“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill

Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid

“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
