“You are joking right? Are you really making a fuss again? I already told you how bad his condition is!”

His condition was bad. When he was swooped away into an ambulance, his condition was terrible. Indeed, it had to be so bad.

“Do you need money for upkeep? Is that why you are making a fuss!” Harry finally said, drawing closer towards the couple with a wide grin spread across his face.

The frown that latched onto Sophia's face only grew deeper, and her eyes widened like she had been hit by a sudden wave of realization.

“So that's it, that's the reason you've been acting up.” Her face squeezed tightly.

“I will double your allowance in that case!” She said it like he wasn't working in the company, like everything she had wasn't built on the legacy he had forfeited while remaining the faithful house husband.

Riley's face remained bland, and Sophia frowned.

“How can you be so greedy!” she sneered. Still, Riley didn't flinch, a wave of heat coursing through her body and causing her nostrils to flare.

“Riley!!!”

“I don't need your money!” Riley finally spoke up.

“I just need you to sign this…”

“What's that?” Her brows furrowed.

“Are you trying to play some dirty tricks?” she sneered.

She never once checked the documents he sent to her before, because there was no need to.

He would always double-check and run them through the legal team before she did.

Just then, Harry tripped over and Sophia ran to him, her legs barely touching the floor as she rasped.

“Harry! Are you hurt?”

“This argument, it's beginning to make my head hurt, and I still haven't fully recovered from the trauma of the earthquake!”

He didn't finish his words before Sophia shot a deadly glare at Riley.

She snatched the paper from his hands, quickly scribbled her name on it, and tossed it back to him.

“Just do whatever you want, meet my secretary for the increase. Don't bother Harry anymore, he's already going through a lot!”

Sophia scooped the man up into her lap, and only Riley could see the smirk that arched onto Harry's face, grazing his head closer to his wife's.

Ex-wife now.

Riley snatched the paper away from her before she could process her thoughts and look at what she had just signed.

“Don't worry, you won't get any more disturbance from me!” he finally said before walking out of the hall.

Riley went straight to the dining room, tore her part of the agreement, and dropped it on the papers before walking away.

The instant he got out of the office, his cell phone rang and a name flashed on the screen.

It was his manager.

“Riley, come over now, there's an emergency!”

There was no room for him to say otherwise or even opt that he was sick at the moment.

That was one of the perks that came with working as a medic, especially when it came to high-profile people, and it sounded just like that.

He quickly rushed off toward the venue. Another earthquake had just affected the area, the building was collapsing, and it was really bad.

His colleagues hesitated, seeing the magnitude of the debris crashing at multiple intervals.

However, he knew that if they didn't make a move, all fifty people in that building were going to die.

Riley instantly rushed inside, summoning his courage with clenched fists.

He started moving everyone out of the rubble, one after the other, and was on the last person when it happened.

Just below him, the earth rumbled once again, just enough to shake the building right to its core.

Then the building came crashing down on him as he instinctively pushed the man to safety and waited for his own death.
