“At least today I'm early!”

Brandon had barely stepped out of his apartment when Victoria came toward him in a hurry. He had his phone in one hand and the folder for Norway's project in the other, already thinking about the meetings he needed to attend that morning.

“We need to go somewhere,” Victoria announced in a hurry.

  • THE CULPRIT BEHIND THE LOSSES

“Young man,” Richard's gaze returned to Brandon. “You should be careful about the questions you're asking.”Brandon remained calm. “I'm asking because the company paid thirty percent more than the original contract required. Why? According to the reports, the payments came from different sources through different transactions, yet every amount eventually ended up in the same account. How do you explain that?”Richard's expression shifted as he stared at Brandon. ‘How did this man find out? Is he actually trying to corner me into admitting the truth? He quickly composed himself. If that's what he's doing, I won't give him the satisfaction. I shouldn't let him become too confident.’Richard leaned back, maintaining his composed expression. “You don't understand how procurement works.”“Then please help me understand it.”Richard's patience began to disappear.“Listen, young man, you've been here for a few days and already think you understand everything. I've worked with Mr. Norway for

  • WHAT DID YOU FIND?

“Mr. Norway, I believe I've found the reason your project has been losing money.”Norway lifted his eyes from the report in front of him. Brandon had been reviewing the project records for several days, and although he had already identified several problems, this was the first time he had approached Norway with something this serious.“What did you find?”Brandon placed a folder on the desk and opened it. “The losses aren't coming from the market. Someone inside the company has been deliberately draining money from the project.”Norway's attention shifted completely to him.“Are you certain?”“I wouldn't have come to you if I wasn't.”Norway picked up the first document and read through it carefully. “Who is responsible?”“I believe it's Mr. Richard Hale, the director overseeing procurement.”Norway's brows drew together. Richard had worked with him for years and was one of the senior people responsible for managing several of his projects. “That's a serious accusation, Brandon.” “I

  • A REMATCH

“Would you like to play a game with me, Brandon?”David gestured toward the chessboard on the small table near the window after lunch. Brandon glanced at Victoria and Laura, who were still talking nearby, then returned his attention to David.“Sure. I haven't played in a while, but I'd be happy to.”David smiled and arranged the pieces. “Good. I want to see whether you're as good at chess as you are at business.”Brandon took his seat across from him. “I wouldn't count on that.”“You're being modest again.”They began the game, and for the first few moves, their conversation remained casual. David occasionally commented on a move while Brandon considered the board carefully. After several turns, David leaned back in his chair.“You know, I keep thinking about what you told me earlier.”Brandon lifted his eyes from the board. “About what?”“About family.” David moved one of his pieces forward. “I think my wife and I made a mistake with Victoria. We were so busy trying to build a good l

  • THE PERFECT SON-IN-LAW

“I've asked them to bring river shrimp instead of sea shrimp. You told us you're not allergic to sea shrimp, but I'm still not entirely convinced.”Laura settled into her chair as everyone began serving themselves. Brandon paused with his spoon in his hand and turned toward her.“Sometimes allergies can be mild enough that people don't even notice them,” she continued gently. “I thought it would be safer to bring these instead. At least you can eat them without worrying.”For a moment, Brandon didn't know how to respond. It was such a small thing, yet Laura had remembered something he had casually mentioned earlier and had taken the trouble to make sure he was comfortable. He lowered his eyes toward his plate, quietly touched by the thought behind it.“Thank you,” he replied softly.Laura smiled at him warmly. “You don't have to thank me. Just eat properly. You look like you don't eat enough.”David chuckled from across the table. “Honey, you've known him for less than a day, and you'

  • SAVE IT FOR THE NEXT MEETING

“I’m currently working on one of Mr. Norway’s projects.”David leaned back slightly, listening with interest. “Mr. Norway’s project? How did you even end up working with him?”“I happened to meet him at an investors’ meeting when I presented a demo of my own project,” Brandon explained calmly. “We got into a conversation afterward, and that eventually led to him offering me six months to turn one of his projects around. If I can get it back on track, he’ll consider investing in my own project.”David's expression brightened as he began to realize just how capable Brandon was. “That’s impressive. Getting Mr. Norway to trust someone with one of his projects is difficult enough, but convincing him that you can actually fix it is even harder. You must have made quite an impression.”Brandon gave a modest smile. “I’m just trying to do my best with the opportunity he gave me.”David nodded approvingly. “Still, you should be proud of yourself. Impressing Mr. Norway isn't easy. I actually env

  • ALLERGIC?

“Yes, Mrs. Ashford, I’m Brandon Callaghan. It’s nice to meet you.”Brandon offered her the bouquet he had picked up on the way, trying his best to keep his nervousness under control. He had spent the entire drive reminding himself that this was only a meeting, but standing in front of Victoria’s mother made everything feel much more serious.Laura accepted the flowers with a warm smile, but before she could respond, her expression suddenly changed.“Your mother, is her name Lily Callaghan?”Brandon blinked in surprise, unable to understand how she knew his mother's name. “Yes.”The moment he confirmed it, Laura's eyes widened with recognition. She turned toward Victoria and pushed her gently to the side in her excitement.Victoria lost her balance for a moment, and Brandon immediately reached out to steady her before she could stumble.“Mom!”Laura barely paid attention to her daughter's complaint. Instead, she gently took Brandon's hand and smiled at him. “Ignore that drama queen and
