After bidding farewell to the unusual visitor, James rushed back to his room.

Taking advantage once again that Katrina wasn't there (where did she go?), James booted up her laptop, plugging the USB drive into the corresponding slot.

"This is going to be interesting. A glimpse of Mark in the parking lot that could be the answer to our problems, huh?" James grinned devilishly. "The guy always posed as a good guy, perfect, worthy but poor... Let's see."

James accessed the video and began to watch.

He had the same reactions as Adrian upon recognizing Briana in the parking lot footage.

Then, when she reappeared being carried in Mark's arms, James's eyebrows remained raised.

And when Briana's car nearly bounced with the effect of the drug happening inside it, James tilted his head back, laughing heartily.

"HA, HA, HA, HA! Mark, you pervert! You—"

James interrupted his laughter, suddenly realizing the information.

Mark was the first man in Briana's romantic life!

Gene and Ray stiffened, their backs suddenly rigid. Their eyes widened as they turned to face Karl, their expressions silently begging Mark to keep the charade intact. Mark, however, remained as cool and composed as ever.“Good morning, Karl,” he said pleasantly. “Yes, I’m considering a visit to Parliament.”Gene and Ray stared at him in horror, silently pleading: Don’t blow our cover!Karl, unaware of the tension, wandered over to his desk with a laugh. “And may I ask what you’ll be honored for?”Mark leaned back in his chair, eyes gleaming. “Let’s just say I’ll be recognized for helping the police dismantle Lawrence’s nightclub network.”Karl laughed. “I thought the credit went to the police — especially Sergeant Ribeiro.”“Oh, don’t worry,” Mark said, “he’ll be commended as well.”Gene and Ray exchanged glances of relief. They understood the coded message: Mark was going to Parliament not only for royal matters, but also to ensure Ribeiro’s promotion moved forward — an elegant rewa

In the ground-floor bedroom of the Vasconcelos Mansion, Gilson reclined against the headboard, clad in a laughably outdated set of pajamas — an elderly man’s ensemble that Claudia had insisted he wear. The fabric clung uncomfortably to his skin, unfamiliar and unwelcome. He had grown used to sleeping with nothing on, and the sensation of cloth against his body had robbed him of a decent night’s rest.Claudia, ever the caregiver, moved about the room with brisk efficiency. She had kept the windows shut tight, protecting him from the morning breeze, and now approached with a breakfast tray balanced in her hands, setting it gently on his lap.“My love,” Gilson asked skeptically, peering at the plate, “are you sure I’m allowed to eat eggs with bacon?”Claudia responded with the cool tone of someone whose patience had worn thin. “The eggs have no salt, and the bacon was fried in its own fat.”“They used to add oil to fry bacon?” Gilson asked, genuinely puzzled. She rolled her eyes. He was

Next day.In Mary Ellen’s cozy apartment, Celia sat at the kitchen table, enjoying her breakfast of golden pancakes drizzled with thick caramel syrup. Beside her rested a steaming cup of decaf coffee with whole milk — her usual morning indulgence.Across the table, however, Mary Ellen barely acknowledged the aroma of breakfast, her eyes glued to the tablet in her hands. There was a hunger in her gaze, but not for food — she was devouring digital evidence, proof that Lawrence had not, in fact, been the hero of the infamous college reunion.“You’re not going to eat, you creature?” Celia asked, popping a fresh berry into her mouth and raising an eyebrow.Mary Ellen didn’t look up. “How can anyone think about food when the raw, unfiltered truth is staring them in the face?”Celia rolled her eyes and reached into a ceramic bowl brimming with ripe berries. “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.”“I’m feeding myself with irrefutable evidence,” Mary Ellen quipped, still mesmerized

Claudia froze. Her jaw fell open. Where had Althea pulled that accusation from? But Gilson wasn’t looking at his mother. He was staring at his wife with unsettling doubt. Quietly, he pulled his hand from hers and leaned into Sandro’s support instead.“You’re all insane!” Claudia shouted, then turned on her heel and stormed up the stairs, each step a defiant stomp.Sandro patted Gilson’s back. “Don’t worry. I’ll tell the kitchen — no salt, no oil, and no sugar in your orange juice.”With Nadir in tow, he made his way to the kitchen.Gilson remained still, eyes fixed on the stairway where his wife had vanished, his expression dark with mistrust.******Briana stood frozen in the master suite of the Ferro House, her breath caught in her throat as the weight of the truth crashed over her.Tears welled in her eyes as she stared down at the sleek, futuristic bracelet on her wrist, the screen still glowing with images of a man she thought she knew, now revealed to be so much more.Footage ro

Mark stood beside the bed inside the master suite of the Ferro House, eyes trained on Briana. He was quiet, tense, waiting. In her hands, she held the high-tech bracelet, her thumb hovering over the activation button. She hesitated, staring down at it as if it might explode. Something held her back — not fear exactly, but a whisper of doubt.Mark finally spoke, gently. “What’s wrong, darling?”“I’m afraid,” Briana confessed. “Afraid I’ll press this button and find out you’re not the Mark I love.”Without a word, Mark knelt in front of her and took her left hand in his.“But wouldn’t it be better to know everything?” he asked. She nodded slowly. “Yes... it would. But why do you sound like this is some secret... something forbidden?”“The first part is true,” he said simply.Briana narrowed her eyes, lifting the bracelet and giving it a shake. “So, whatever I see here... it stays between us, right?”Mark chuckled softly, but there was a somber edge to his voice. “Unfortunately, we can’t

  • Chapter 611 The Bracelet of Truth

Mark returned home that evening, the familiar silence of the master suite wrapping around him like a warm cloak. As he stepped inside, his gaze landed on Briana’s high heels carelessly kicked off beside the couch, and her handbag tossed onto the cushions. He smiled. She was likely in the shower or changing for dinner.Tonight was the night. His mission, long postponed, could no longer wait. He’d sworn he wouldn’t repeat the same mistake he made with Celia. That silence had cost him dearly. This time, there would be no hesitation. The only similarity between then and now was the object he held in his pocket — a sleek, elegant bracelet. It was the same model he once planned to give Celia as a wedding anniversary gift. Now, it would go to Briana, but for a different purpose altogether.Mark pulled the bracelet from his pocket and looked at it, its surface gleaming faintly in the soft bedroom light.“I hope you make the right choice, darling,” he murmured. From the closet, the soft thud o
