Chapter Six
Six months later… The Brooks family sat in silence before Alexander and Commissioner Daniel Ryder. It had been six long months since their public confession and six months behind bars. But today, Alexander had decided to release them. Prison had changed them. The hatred once etched into their faces was now replaced by quiet regret. Surprisingly, they looked well, especially Geraldine. Now heavily pregnant, Geraldine’s glow defied the prison walls. She didn’t look like someone who’d spent half a year confined. Her joy came not from freedom, but from the life growing inside her. Two months into their sentence, she’d dismissed the signs as stress. But as her belly swelled, a doctor confirmed the truth: she was still carrying a child. She never let the irony weigh her down. The fact that the man who had imprisoned her family was the same man whose children she carried. Instead, she embraced her pregnancy with strength, determined to protect her baby from bitterness. Still believing the child is Ethan’s, Alexander had ensured Geraldine lived in comfort, well-fed, well-treated, and protected. Just then, the door creaked open. “Mom, we should m—” Geraldine froze, spotting Alexander seated calmly, his presence commanding as ever. He visited monthly, always briefly. But today felt different. She paused, one hand on her belly, the other gripping the doorframe. Their eyes met. Unspoken emotions lingered—regret, questions, the weight of everything left unsaid. Alexander looked away first. “The release papers?” he asked. Commissioner Ryder nodded. “All set. They’re free to go,” he said, then added with a smirk, “Let’s hope they never cross President Steele again.” Alexander chuckled dryly. The Brooks family didn’t. “We end our feud here, Alexander,” Uncle Ryan finally said. “I look forward to doing business with you, and perhaps one day, being called your friend.” He extended a hand. Hesitant, Alexander took it. Ryan glanced at his family’s confused faces, smirked, and walked out. He meant what he said. He wanted to be Alexander’s associate now. Granny Brook and Sierra followed, throwing icy glares. Diana hissed and trailed behind. Only Geraldine remained. A quiet moment passed. “Thank you, Alexander,” she said softly, hand resting on her belly. No bitterness, just gratitude. Then she turned and left. Alexander watched her go. “She’s changed,” he murmured. The commissioner, who'd been observing quietly, leaned closer. “Be careful, sir. And don’t hesitate to reach out if you need our support. I have a feeling the Brooks are planning something… and it won’t be small. That wasn’t just a grudge I saw in their eyes, it was vengeance. Don’t trust Ryan’s sudden peace.” Alexander nodded as Geraldine vanished from view. Outside, chaos erupted. The crowd hurled insults at the Brooks as they exited. Alexander stood still, watching it all unfold from the steps. After a long pause, he tilted his head toward a nearby officer. “Clear the crowd. Get the Brooks delivered safely to the location. No disruptions.” “Yes, sir,” the officer replied immediately, signaling his men into action. Only when he was certain everything was under control did Alexander turn, slipping into the backseat of his black armored car. Time to face a new life. ***** A Few Months Later… Time passed, but the Brooks Empire hadn’t recovered. Their debts were cleared, and a deal with Steele Corporation was in place—but their reputation lay in ruins. Now leading the family, Geraldine bore the weight with quiet resolve, rebuilding from the wreckage. She stood near her office hallway, reviewing a file, when two staff members passed by, whispering excitedly. “Can you believe it? He’s getting engaged today!” “To Regina George, no less,” the other replied, pausing mid-step. “She’s so lucky. I mean, to marry someone as powerful, mysterious, and ridiculously handsome as President Alexander Steele? God, I wish it was me. I still can’t believe that was the man Madam Geraldine and her family treated like he was nothing.” Hidden from view, Geraldine froze, her grip tightening on the folder. The words stung more than she cared to admit. “I heard he even got them released from prison himself,” the first added in disbelief. “And after all that, he still gave them a business deal? If you ask me, he’s the real saint here. Madam Geraldine and her family… they were the cruel ones.” “Right? And get this, I heard Regina is already pregnant. That’s why they’re rushing the engagement. Apparently, he wants to make it official before the press finds out.” A sharp ache pierced Geraldine’s chest. She hadn’t seen Alexander since the day she left the detention center. Still, she followed his every move, speeches, photos, rumors. Especially the ones about Regina George. She told herself it was just curiosity. Lately, she wasn’t sure. As the women walked off, still giggling, Geraldine turned toward her office, her pace slower. One hand cradled her belly as a soft kick met her palm. A faint smile flickered on her lip. Then, just as she reached the stairs, someone collided with her head-on. She stumbled, barely catching herself on the railing. “Oh!” she gasped. The lady who’d ran into her looked utterly terrified like she'd just seen a ghost. Her clothes were also stained… with blood. Geraldine’s heart skipped. It was Reina, the new P.A. she’d hired after Diana vanished following the Brooks’ release, heightening Geraldine’s suspicion that Diana had poisoned her. Despite a police search, Diana remained missing. “I-I’m sorry, ma’am,” Reina whimpered, backing away. “What happened, Reina? Why's there blood all over you?” “I… there’s a man… in your office…” Reina choked out. “He had on a mask. He was tearing through your drawers, looking for something. I came in to drop off your files, I didn’t know you weren’t there, and then…then he saw me. He came at me… with a knife… I tried to fight but he stabbed—” The words died in her throat as a soft hiss split the air. Reina’s body jerked as a thin hole bloomed red in her forehead. She collapsed at Geraldine’s feet, lifeless. Geraldine froze. It was only then she looked up. A man stood several steps above her, dressed in black, a mask covering his face. A silencer-fitted pistol still raised in his hand. He looked at her, tilted his head slightly, and raised his middle finger. “This isn’t over,” he said in a cold, mechanical voice. “You… and Alexander’s bastards in your womb… will go just like your innocent assistant.” Then he vanished down the hallway in a blur of motion. Geraldine’s heart hammered violently against her ribs. And then, reality hit her like a freight train. She screamed. The building erupted into chaos. Security guards and staff rushed out, yelling, some calling for the police, others for an ambulance. Blood pooled beneath Reina's lifeless body. But Geraldine couldn't move. A sharp, wet sensation bloomed between her legs. Her water had broken. Then came the pain. Searing. Unbearable. Agonizing. She screamed again, this time from deep within, and before anyone could reach her, the world around her spun into darkness and collapsed. **** Meanwhile… All eyes turned as President Alexander Steele and the stunning Regina George walked hand-in-hand down the red carpet. Their arrival at the lavish birthday of his business associate event caused a stir, cameras flashing as fans tossed rose petals at their feet. Security held back the crowd as whispers filled the air. “Such a lucky woman…” “He’s even more handsome than ever now…” “She’s glowing–pregnant already, isn’t she?” Regina George basked in the spotlight, clinging tighter to Alexander’s arm as she smiled at the crowd. This was her world—cameras, applause, admiration. Months ago, she never imagined the President of Steele Corporation would ask her out, let alone fall for her. Now, she was pregnant with his child and soon to be his wife. Alexander, calm as ever, offered a faint smile but his mind drifted. Geraldine. She could’ve been the one beside him, if her family hadn’t broken him, if she hadn’t looked away when he needed her most. Enough, he told himself. She betrayed you. She’s carrying someone else’s child. He had Regina now. And she carried his child. Still… if they hadn’t cast him out, would he even be here? “President Alexander! An honor to have you,” a voice interrupted. It was Mr. Edward, the birthday host, glowing with excitement. Beside him stood a woman in a striking emerald gown. “Likewise, Mr. Edward,” Alexander said, shaking his hand firmly. Edward beamed. “It’s an honor to have you here. Let me introduce my wife, Fiona—” “I don’t need an introduction,” Fiona cut in, eyes locked on Alexander. “Who wouldn’t recognize the legendary Alexander Steele?” she purred, hugging him a little too long. Alexander offered a polite smile and gently removed her hands. Regina, visibly annoyed, stepped closer and wrapped her arm around his waist. “Nice to meet you,” Alexander said coolly. “This is my fiancée, Regina George.” Fiona’s smile faltered. Regina smirked. But even as Alexander played the part of the devoted partner, his thoughts drifted, for a heartbeat back to her. Unaware, at that exact moment… Geraldine was screaming, bleeding, and slipping into unconsciousness.

Chapter Five At Steele Corporation’s skyscraper, Alexander stood by the glass window, watching the angry crowd below chant for justice. They wanted the old man’s case reopened, and him sent back to prison. “Master, let me handle this. It’s simple,” Clara said quietly beside him. He shook his head, chuckling. “No. I want the real culprit to come and confess, publicly. We’re just spectators now. Let’s wait and watch.” Clara’s brow furrowed. She knew what'd existed between her master and the Brooks family and she couldn't blame him for what he was doing. “But… Geraldine’s fiancé, Ethan Dolan, was just involved in a terrible accident. She won’t be able to come.” Alexander simply hummed. He’d already expected it. The Brooks had no idea they were surrounded by snakes in their own household. A flicker of pity crossed his face. “Poor boy,” he murmured. Then, turning to Clara, “Watch closely. The game is just beginning.” ***** At the hospital, Geraldine lay motionless, eyes fixed on

Their debt has only worsened. For months, the Brooks family’s been quietly collapsing. Only Geraldine knew how bad it was until now.”She tapped the file. “Now they want a deal without paying what they owe.”Alexander’s eyes narrowed as he scanned the file. His chance.“Bring them in,” he said, spinning his chair before rising and walking to the window. From the 28th floor, he looked out over the city. Unbelievable, he thought. Chapter Two
Chapter TwoIn a lavish living room, Alexander Steele, formerly Gilbert Brooks, sat across from a striking woman with an open file between them. The resemblance was undeniable. She was Alessandria Steele, his sister.“I’m so sorry for everything you went through, brother” she said, voice laced with sorrow. “I didn’t know how it happened or who took you. It was like everything about you were erased from the earth. I only discovered the truth months ago, when I found out you were married into the Brooks family. That’s when I realized... it was you.”Alexander remained silent, still absorbing the whirlwind his life had become. His eyes scanned the opulent room, landing on framed photos of Alessandria with her husband, glowing and happy.“I understand,” he said quietly. “But… what about our real parents? Can I know more about them? And grandpa too?”Alessandria nodded and sighed. “I’ll tell you what I know. But the story about how you ended up in an orphanage after being taken... that par
