Thane’s POV
I went back to Campbell, Kentucky, where our barracks were, anger still written all over my face. I had to lodge at a hotel far away from the White House before booking my flight back to Campbell. I looked completely unkempt, and yesterday had been one of the worst days of my life.
I headed straight to my personal quarters in the barracks, where my room was allocated. The first thing I did was take a warm bath, clean myself up, style my hair, and prepare breakfast.
It was noodles and scrambled eggs with chicken on top—one of my favorite meals.
After I was done eating, I felt relieved and satisfied. A proper rest was important to me so I wouldn’t get indigestion, and I always took that as a top priority. But then flashes of what Viktor and Damien did to me replayed in my mind, fueling my anger all over again. Out of frustration, I smashed the plate my noodles had been in, breaking it into pieces. A sharp piece of the broken plate cut my flesh, and blood started pouring out before I could stop it.
And then, she walked in.
Wearing a skimpy gown that showed off her cleavage and perfect curves, Shawn entered the room. I froze in disbelief.
“What brings you here?” I stuttered, confused.
She cut me off immediately, her eyes darting to my bleeding hand. The sight scared her.
“What’s wrong with your hand? Why are you bleeding? How did you injure yourself?” She bombarded me with questions one after another, and for a moment, I didn’t even know which one to answer first.
She pulled a sterilizer and cotton wool from her bag and quickly cleaned the wound before bandaging it. “Now this looks okay,” she said, blowing lightly on it to cool off the sting.
Then she handed me a piece of chocolate. “This will make you feel better. Try to eat it, it’s satisfying and healthy.”
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Was this real? I pinched myself just to be sure I wasn’t dreaming, and the sharp pain jolted me back to reality.
“Now tell me, how did you injure yourself?” she asked again. She’d repeated the question more than twice already, and the concern on her face forced me to give her an answer, even though I decided to twist the truth.
“Okay,” I cleared my throat so the words would flow smoothly. “I tripped over the plate by mistake. It broke, and when I tried to pick it up, it cut me. I was careless.”
“Oh, sorry,” she said softly. “But you’re not careless, Thane. I know that must be painful.”
She leaned closer, bending down slightly. Her breast almost spilled out of the skimpy dress, and a part of me was tempted to touch it. But then I remembered, it was Shawn who made President Mark tarnish my image and reputation.
She drew closer still, but I shifted back. She hugged me instead and planted a quick peck on my cheek.
“Don’t worry, everything will be fine. Just give it time,” she whispered.
“I know you must be wondering why I entered,” she added quickly. “I saw your door was open. And I know we didn’t properly introduce ourselves the other day, but I’m glad to see you’re in a better situation now. Tell me, the sterilizer didn’t sting too much, right?”
“Yes, I’m better now,” I replied, feeling shy, though all I wanted was for her to leave so I could focus on my thoughts.
She tilted her head. “So how has life been since the death of your comrades? You’re not… struggling with pain, are you?”
Her question caught me off guard, and I answered too sharply. “I’m fine. Thank you.” My tone sounded rude, very rude but it felt inappropriate for her to barge into my room and dig into matters like that.
“Can I have a drink?” she asked casually. “Anything cold or hot. I’m kinda thirsty and hungry.”
She sat down without care, spreading her legs in a way that exposed the edges of her underwear. A bit of her private part was visible, and I felt a sudden rush of desire. This time I was tempted to give in, but I stopped myself. What if this was part of Viktor and Damien’s plan? What if they were using her to lure me in, to completely ruin my life and everything I had worked for?
“Can I use your shower?” she asked next. “I love showering first before I prepare food for myself.”
I stammered. “Shower? In my room? Uhmm… what do you mean?”
But before I could finish, she stripped off her clothes and turned her back to me, walking straight into the bathroom. She didn’t close the door, and I could see everything, her naked body, glistening under the water.
She was too hot. Too tempting. But I tightened my gaze not to look. I would not fall into lust.
When she was done, she dried herself with my towel, then rushed to put on her skimpy gown again. She forgot her skirt, though, and every time she sat, I could see everything beneath. The more I saw, the harder it became to resist.
She went into the kitchen and prepared the same food I had cooked earlier. When it was ready, she ate like she hadn’t seen food in days.
“Thanks so much, Thane. Today is one of the happiest days of my life. It’s been a while since I’ve experienced this kind of warmth and quality time,” she said, standing up to hug me again.
Her body pressed against mine, and instantly I felt an erection rise. I didn’t like the feeling at all.
“No,” I screamed in my mind. “I will never fall for her.”
“Bye,” she said in a light tone, a bright smile on her face as she walked away.
I sat down again, still trying to process everything, when suddenly Samuel Ortega burst into the room, gasping for breath.
He was one of the youngest recruits in our squad. Every time I saw him, he reminded me of Lysander.
“Why are you breathing so heavily?” I asked, my worry growing. I handed him a chilled bottle of water to calm himself down.
He stammered. “Ehmm… Sergeant, Viktor and Damien… they called for you. With the others.”
I froze. Speaking of the devil. Viktor and Damien, my sworn enemies.
“Who are the others?” I pressed.
He gulped down water and continued. “Lieutenants, governors, commanders, commissioners, and other high-ranking officials. They’re all at the military council office right now.”
“Oh, I see,” I muttered, trying to keep my composure. “Thanks for the information. You can go now.”
He saluted and left, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I didn’t know what this meant, but I was curious to understand why everything was happening like this. First Shawn’s so called kindness, it was far from ordinary. And now, suddenly, the military council w
anted to see me out of the blue.
I looked terrified, let’s see how far this will go.

The White House Blackout
Thane POV I felt the surge of adrenaline from the video still pulsing through me. “You will see me soon,” I muttered again, staring at the paused frame of Theresa’s face. “And they will all pay… blood for blood.”The winds outside battered the White House, but inside, a storm of fury, planning, and determination raged. Every resource at my disposal was mobilized. Satellites, drones, special ops—every inch of the battlefield was mapped in my mind. Seventy-two hours. That was all I had. Every second mattered.I walked toward the kitchen to grab some food. My body ached, my head pounding from constant calculations, from rage and fatigue. The new cook, a quiet man with no previous ties to the White House, smiled politely as I entered. “Good evening, Mr. President,” he said. His tone was courteous, almost too calm.I nodded, forcing a smile. “Evening. Make sure everything’s fresh—no mistakes. I need strength for what’s coming.”He handed me a plate. The food smelled delicious, perfectly p
Theresa’s Fear (Video Message)
Thane POVThe video came through my secure device, encrypted, time stamped, and marked urgent. My heart skipped a beat when I saw her face, Theresa. And beside her, Shawn. Both of them are in the small safe room of the White House bunker, illuminated by a single lamp, shadows dancing on the walls. My hands shook as I pressed play. My gut twisted. Every instinct screamed danger. I had faced the world’s worst before, but this… this was different.Theresa’s eyes met the camera first. She was pale, exhausted written across every line of her face, tears streaked on her cheeks. Shawn clutched her mother’s arm, eyes wide, fearful, and Forger sat beside them, silent, but his small hands nervously twisted a corner of his shirt. The message began with a shaky voice, Theresa speaking directly into the camera.“Kaelor… if you’re seeing this… I…” Her voice broke. She swallowed hard, staring straight into the lens. “…I’m scared. I’m scared you won’t survive this… not this one. The enemies… they are
Viktor Countdown
Thane POVThe snowstorm still roared behind us, shaking the mountains like they were made of glass. Martins leaned against the frozen stone wall, breathing heavily, still shaken from almost falling off the collapsing bridge.“Sir… you saved my life again,” Martins whispered, voice raw.I didn’t answer. I didn’t need to. My eyes were fixed on the old fortress door we had just escaped through, the cracked wood trembling from the icy wind blowing in bursts. Every part of me was burning with one thing:**Viktor wants to attack Washington D.C.**He wants to destroy my country, my people, and everything I built. And he thinks I will sit down and watch? Not in this life.“Martins,” I said quietly, “call the White House. Tell them to go into full alert. I don’t care what time it is.”Martins nodded and grabbed his device. “Yes, Mr President.”I turned to the sky. Storm clouds swirled above the mountain peaks like dark spirits. Something inside me shifted—something fierce, something deadly, so
The Infiltrtation
Thane POVMartins and I trudged through the snowy mountain pass. The wreck of the jet still smoldered behind us, a distant reminder of how close we had come to death. Every step on the icy ground threatened to send us tumbling down the cliffs, but we pressed forward. Russell’s fortress loomed ahead—an abandoned, fortress-like compound buried under layers of snow, jagged rocks, and frozen trees.“Sir,” Martins said, his breath visible in the freezing air, “this place is worse than we expected. Look at those guard towers. Snipers have perfect lines of sight from up there. If they see us, we’re done before we even reach the walls.”I tightened my jaw, scanning the fortress with a cold, measured gaze. “That’s why we go quiet. No alarms, no noise, no mistakes. Every soldier, every guard thinks they’re safe—but they’re about to learn what happens when they threaten my bloodline.”Martins nodded, checking his weapons. “Understood, sir. Entry points?”“East wall,” I said, pointing to a narrow
The Jet Ambush
Thane POVThe jet hummed quietly in the night sky as Martins and I leaned over the navigation panel. Outside, the clouds were thick, swallowing the moonlight, hiding the path ahead. We were heading to Europe, tracking Russell’s hideout. The coordinates had been decrypted from intercepted communications. Time was running out. Every second we wasted could mean more danger for my family.“Sir,” Martins said, eyes glued to the radar, “we’re approaching the estimated location. But sensors are picking up unusual signals. Could be interference… or drones.”I tightened my jaw. “Drones. Expect them. Russell wouldn’t make it easy for us. Prepare for evasive maneuvers.”Martins gave me a sharp look. “Evasive maneuvers in a civilian jet? This isn’t a fighter.”I smirked grimly. “I’ll make it a fighter if I have to.”The warning came as a flicker on the radar. Small blips appeared around the jet—too fast, too precise.“Drones!” I shouted. “They’re here!”Martins sprang from his seat, grabbing the
Thane Breaks Silence
Thane POVThe blood-stained dog tag sat heavy in my palm, a constant reminder of Dylan and the stakes we faced. For a long moment, I just stared at it. The quiet hum of the White House around me felt almost deafening. Outside, the city moved on, unaware that the war had already reached the steps of their government, that their president’s family had been kidnapped, that their freedom had been threatened by Viktor, Sahil Jr., and Russell.I turned to Martins, who had been standing silently at attention. “Martins,” I said, voice low, controlled, “prepare the press room. It’s time the citizens hear from me directly. No filters. No lies. No excuses.”His eyes narrowed with concern. “Sir… this is risky. With the recent threats, the kidnappings… going public could give Viktor leverage.”I slammed my fist on the table. “Let him use it. Let him see that fear doesn’t control me. Let him know that I am the God of War, that I protect this nation and my family no matter what. If they want to chal
