Lex tapped frequently on the buttons, his eyes pale red , absolutely lost in the application form.
His gaze shifted to the coffee cup that was laid beside the laptop. He grabbed the handle, taking a sip, then used the opportunity to stare at the other empty seats in the open office. He was the only one left there; he'd meant to have left work over an hour ago, but thought to stay a while since he had absolutely nothing important to do back in his apartment. Even in his mid-twenties, Lex could be said to be the perfect definition of an average human. He stared at the coffee cup, it was empty. 'I have to refill it now.' he wondered to himself. He stood, walking towards the coffee machine, using the controller to pour more of the averagely tasty liquid into the cup. As the coffee was being refilled, Lex peered at the television attached to the wall, not so distant from where he stood. The news channel was on. He grinned as he glanced at the female news caster's slightly revealing curves. She was ranting on and on about a rogue system virus that had been recently released on the internet, urging all computer and system users to watch out for the deadly application. Lex was still lost, daydreaming about grabbing the huge curves, when the coffee, now totally full, spilled all over his plain shoes. Lex snapped out of his reverie, turning off the coffee machine. He stared towards the CCTV camera that was just above him; the boss was going to take a cut out of his meager paycheck when he found out. "Ahhhh, just another boring day." Lex sighed, stepping out of the office building into the walkway while shutting the door behind him. His gaze fell on the evening sun, which dimly peered above the horizon, wishing it goodbyes, slowly giving way to the sky's queen. Lex was the epitome of an average looking guy, even at a young age, clutching his brown and black lined leather briefcase. His face was unremarkable, as he was not handsome in any way and certainly not ugly. He then made his way to the subway station not too far from the office building. A few minutes later, he found himself in the train, watching as the world outside disappear into streaks of lights and colors. With a practiced motion, he pulled out his phone from his pocket, attaching his earpods to his ears. He scrolled on his favorite music app and played a track. At that moment, he felt lost in another world as inspiration for the episode in his latest Novel began rushing into his mind. He was an artist who wrote only for the fun of it, and as something to spice up his average life. The train jolted to a stop, various individuals rushed in and out of the train. Lex joined in, disappearing into the crowd like an invisible shadow. His shoulder brushed past other people who did not have the slightest idea he existed. His head was tilted downwards, savoring the soft music that played in his ears. The sun had absolutely disappeared into the horizon, giving way to the bright moon, which shined brightly along with the sparkling stars surrounding it. The neon lit city was buzzing with life; people were finishing off their day, while some were just starting their adventures. Lex made his way through the seamless crowd like an invisible ghost. After close to thirty minutes of walking on the sidewalks, he arrived at a residential building. The building was slightly faded; three sparking street lamps stood still at its front, looking like they could blow up at any moment. Lex strolled further into the building, going towards his apartment, not through an elevator but a hateful and unending set of stairs. Having climbed the stairs and brushed past a couple of his neighbors, who absolutely were not aware of his presence, he arrived at his apartment entrance. He brought out his bunch of keys, fishing out a particular one, then plunged the key into the keyhole, unlocking it. He stepped inside the apartment, shutting the door behind him. He tapped on the switch on his side; the room immediately lit up. The apartment was not too small or large; it was average, with a small bathroom, a kitchen on one side, and a compact living room. In the middle of the living room was a television and a pale colored couch. Laid on one side was also a table and chair; his trusty computer hung on the wall, beside it was a cabinet filled with various fantasy comics, Novels, and action figures. Lex heaved a sigh as he walked off towards his smug bed, taking off his outfit and heading to the bathroom to freshen up. He then walked to the kitchen to cook a meal that would be enough to last him for the night. After thirty minutes of preparing it, he sank into his couch, turning on his favorite anime and catching up on the part he'd missed. After a long while of binging the anime, he resorted to video games. He'd been grinding for days now, and he finally reached the next level. He played for a couple more hours, then proceeded to work on his latest fantasy and romance comic. Grrrrrrr. He held onto his stomach; he was hungry again. He walked towards the fridge, opening it. Inside the fridge were only a couple of eggs and fruits. "Oh snap, I have to restock," he spoke, scratching his head. He checked the time; it was 10:00. He could still make it to Mama Rina's rice and stakes just down the street and probably grab dessert and more supplies. He hated the hassle of going back and forth for just a few supplies, but tomorrow was a Saturday, and he'll get to stay home all day. He made up his mind, grabbing his phone, keys, and wallet, and headed out the door. As he left the scene, the screen on the computer flickered; various messages of virus contamination spammed it continuously. It then turned off abruptly.Latest Chapter
Vine Training (1)
Lex’s lips curled into a smile. His fingers curled across the ancient skill scroll as he prepared to decipher whatever information it relayed about Vine Bending, learning it as fast as he could. Without hesitation, he flipped it open and began going through its contents.Forsake the illusion that power is drawn from the earth beneath thee, for roots and soil are but borrowed mediums of lesser will, instead, cast thy consciousness beyond the reach of physical grounding, and descend into the formless expanse where mana exists not as energy, but as potential awaiting command. There, inscribe thy intent not as request but as law, forcing the unseen to acknowledge thy existence as its shaping authority. Give form to the vine not through growth, but through absolute dominion over unformed essence.Refine it beyond natural limitation, stripping away fragility, hesitation, and imperfection until only pure intent remains; let it become not a plant, not a construct, but a manifestation of thy
Daze intermediate Mastery
(Roof top, Demon king's palace) Thunder cracked across the sky, lightening flashing with every second, on the middle of the palace's roof was a vine woven tent. Lex sat in the tent, tapping is chin continuously as he stared at the vine before him, the vine he had materialized still twirled lively as his casting of this intermediate level of Daze was unable to reach it. *Crack* Lex heard a loud crack, without looking he already knew what it was.. The barrier, it had began crumbling at a rapid rate due to the pressure from the flood. "I have to learn this and quick." Lex spoke to himself as he knew the barrier breaking probably meant instant death for him as one level fifty beast was a problem on its own and currently about hundreds were outside of the barrier waiting to crunch him to pieces. So without hesitation, lex began the process again, activating Daze and restricting it to his iris channeling Mana towards it and submerging it with the tremors. This time lex brough
Daze intermediate Training (1)
Lex studied his stats with amusement. Although he could not feel the changes in endurance, the difference in his perception between a few minutes ago and currently was widely vast. His perception stat had hit a whopping three digits, as it was now currently at 137 with the help of his Vine Bending. Lex’s lips curled into a smile; he could feel his grasping speed had increased by folds. He could now predict up to twelve steps ahead after analysing a scenario. “Alright then, let me see what the intermediate stage of Daze is all about,” Lex muttered to himself as he recalled how the Kalupalik stopped the spell of a dragon, causing it to retreat. He immediately unwrapped the scroll and began reading through its contents. [All that exists within mana is not born of chaos… but of will made orderly. Each spell is a thought made flesh, a pattern sustained by intent, a fragile harmony bound by unseen law. If thou seekest to halt such power, do not gaze upon the hand that casts it…
Daze Basic Mastery
{Daze}. Droplets of rain crashed on the ground consecutively. Lex sat in the middle of the courtyard, mid-cast of Daze. The seconds passed. Five seconds. Ten seconds. Fifteen seconds. And then... Cough. Lex coughed wildly, blood spraying freely from his nostrils and beneath his eyelids. His whole body shuddered in pain. Lex, defenseless, began to feel the cold from the rain as Daze took a complete toll on him. His vision blurred, dark spots clouding his sight as the strain pushed past his limits. He began crawling towards where Naomi sat peacefully. Every drag felt like he was pulling the entire demon king’s palace along with him as the remnants of blood leaked from his face. His fingers dug into the wet ground, slipping slightly with each pull, yet he refused to stop. Soon enough, he arrived at the edge and crashed directly beside Naomi as he caught his breath. His chest rose and fell heavily, each inhale sharp and uneven. Lex knew the reason for the breakdown. He had
Daze Training (2)
{Phase Two: Maintain a pre-compressed ripple and trigger Daze at the exact moment of visual lock, sustaining its form across rapid gaze shifts without dispersion.}Lex stared at the blue translucent screen with a brow raised. After thinking for a while, he understood what it meant. The instructions from the system were directed at increasing the speed of casting Daze, the ability to cast it in relentless succession at instant speed.'This might take a toll on my eyesight.' Lex wondered to himself as since he had gotten the power of the kalupalik, his eyes had become more formidable and couldn’t easily take damage. However, that wasn’t enough to cast Daze towards multiple enemies while still maintaining its ripple like form when casting it.The only way was to keep on trying until he could finally pull it off. Lex knew this part would be necessary, as continuously trying would deepen his perception of the basic mastery of Daze and ensure he didn’t make foolish mistakes later on.Lex
Daze Training (1)
Blink*Blink*Lex blinked rapidly as he tried to steady his mind after being pulled back into reality. The scene from the kalupalik he had watched earlier replayed vividly in his mind again and again."If I could obtain these powers?"Lex’s lips slowly curled into a smile as realization began settling deeply within him."I might become as well… unstoppable.""A breach in normalcy.""An anomaly."A grin appeared on Lex’s face as he fully understood the situation he was in, and the benefits that could emerge from it if he played his cards right.{Ding!{Fourth quest issued!}{There are four levels of understanding..BasicIntermediateAdvancedPerfectThrough the ancient skill scroll, master both Daze and Spell Bending to the intermediate level.
