Edward scanned the environment.

Thirty men. Maybe more.

If that man had told the truth, Caleb was hiding something big. Edward could read these men at a glance, they weren't ordinary security guards. They were trained assassins. The kind who killed for a living, not the ones who fought or protected. The men he had taken down at Ethan's place were amateurs compared to this.

And they were there to kill him.

One thing was certain now he wasn't just some orphan. Caleb must have killed his parents. And he'd sent these men to finish the job, to bury the truth for good.

Edward prayed silently. Not for a miracle just for a chance to survive long enough to find answers. But he knew the odds. Against thirty trained killers with guns and machetes? One percent. Maybe less.

His eyes darted to their hands.

Handguns

Rifles

Machetes.

Fighting them meant death. Running was not even an option. So he just stood there, cycling in the center surrounded by a circle of huge, masked men.

Then an idea struck.

He started walking away, slowly, to see how they'd react. If they allowed him leave, that means they weren't there to kill him, making that mysterious caller, a liar.

The men parted, letting him through.

Then a thunderous voice roared from behind.

"You son of a bitch. Where do you think you're going?"

Edward traced the voice to a man sitting on the bonnet of one of the black car. Even in the dim night, he could see his face clearly. No mask. Everything about him said he was the boss.

The man was huge. Long white hair matted into dreads that fell to his shoulders. A pistol in one hand, a fat cigarette in the other. He stared at Edward, inhaled the cigarette and puffed smoke toward the sky.

"I have other jobs tonight." His voice was calm, but something in it made Edward's skin crawl but he didn't show it "So let's wrap this up, Kill him."

He puffed again.

Then the men charged.

Tang.

One tried to smash a rifle against Edward's head, Edward caught it, twisted the man's arm, and threw him aside.

"Oh wow. You think you're fit for us?" Another man laughed, lunging forward with a machete. He dragged the blade across the pavement sparks flying as he ran.

Cut.

The machete swung for Edward's shoulder. He dodged making the blade bit into the concrete instead.

Shoot.

One of the men fired his gun.

The bullet tore through Edward's stomach.

Ahhh

a yell ripped from the surprised Edward's mouth.

While The men laughed of course they've killed a lot of people so it felt normal to them.

"You could have let him try to fight."

"Yes, boss. It's more fun am sorry”

"Hahahahaha."

Edward heard their voices as he fought to keep his eyes open. His legs wobbled. He tried to hold himself up, but strength was draining fast, blood gushing from the hole in his stomach. His eyes darted around, hoping and praying the mysterious man who said he had been watching him would appear.

Or Maybe it was all a trap.

Maybe the caller was in league with Caleb.

He laugh painfully. There was no help coming, he never expected he was going to die today when he woke up this morning.

Blood flooded his shirt, His vision became more blurred.

The laughter around him began fading into echoes.

He staggered backward for a bit before his legs gave out completely.

His head hit the pavement so hard that a tiny sound began ringing everywhere around him.

He shut his eyes waiting for the moment he breath his last.

But then...

A strange voice rang inside his head

The more you fight, the stronger you become, the more levels you climb."

A violent wind blew. Edward felt great force, spiraled around him.

Oh, I'm dead. He tried to yell, but no sound came out.

"Clean jobs only." Draco the man with the white dreads yawned. "This was boring to watch. I should have come alone."

He climbed off the car bonnet and stretched, then walked toward where Edward lay. Edward's body had gone stiff as a rock.

"Glad I got the chance to kill you. Even after all these years." Draco pulled out his phone, took several shots, sent them to someone, then deleted the chat history and the photos. "Li just stood there crying like a baby. At least you fought two of my men that was quite impressive”

He raised his pistol and pulled the trigger.

Clang.

His hand snapped sideways.

He looked up, to see that Edward was standing. One of Draco's own men lay dead beside him shot by his bullet instead.

Seconds ago, Edward had been lying in a pool of his own blood. Now he stood tall leaving Draco's mouth hung open at the suddenly turn of things. "Impossible!"

He thought Edward was dead, he only pulled the trigger to make sure he doesn't ever get the chance to wake....

Edward rushed the remaining men.

Clang.

Clang.

Clang.

Heads fall from their bodies rolling across the pavement. In an instant, every Draco's men lay dead.

"Who really are you?" Draco's voice trembled at the sight. This were trained men that had been with him for years. They had killed a lot of people effortlessly so how come one man brought them all down within seconds?

Edward vanished from his sight.

"I am…." Edward whispered into his ear. Draco jumped, terrified. Wondering how he got close to him without seeing him move.

"Edward Li. The son of Li Zhenyu." Edward cut off Draco's finger Blood poured. "What do you know about him? What do you know about my father?"

"I swear, I don't know anything! He just paid me. Gave instructions. I've never met him face-to-face."

"Who?"

"We don't know him. He just contacts us. I swear"

Dang.

Draco hit the ground Dead.

Edward hissed. No point keeping him alive. He didn't know much anyway.

He yawned lazily and dusted dirt from his finger.

"Hello, Edward Li. Do you believe me now?" A car pulled over beside the pavement.

"The mysterious caller." Edward raise his brow

"Yes." The man nodded

"Take me out of here. That's an order. And tell me everything I need to know." Edward walked toward the car.

"Yes, sir."

"Wait..." Edward froze, his eyes widen in shock "you?" He stared at the driver.
