“Just a little worried since you’re acting a bit different from when we first met. Though, if you don’t mind.. can I ask you something?” Adrian asked.

Letty shrugged, “Go on. Don’t ask me out though, we’re not that close yet.”

Adrian gave her a sideways glance before speaking, “My gpa is 2.0 and I looked at multiple universities but I can’t really find anything good. Do you have any recommendations for one that accepts anyone as long as they pay?”

“Well, there’s the University of Urizona. The prices range but for most courses, it’s 40,000 to 50,000 a year.”

“That’s pretty close to where I live…” Adrian muttered as he thought about it and after a while, he hesitated slightly.

Letty noticed this and chuckled, “Just ask, I won’t judge.”

“Well, is there a way I can not pay taxes after paying my fees? I don’t wanna get involved in taxes while I’m studying.”

“You don’t pay taxes when you pay for your education.” she said and frowned slightly as she looked at him, “Just tell me what’s on your mind without any filters and I should be able to help you out. I might be young but I know a lot about taxes and being efficient with money.”

Hearing this, Adrian thought about his situation and his system before he explained part of his problems without mentioning anything about the money multiplier system of his.

“So you’re getting paid in cash and this income is coming through an anonymous person. Right, if you deposit a huge amount in your bank, it’ll be noticed.” she said softly as she took out her phone and began going through her contacts.

A minute later, she said, “I know the Director of Admissions in University of Urizona and he’s a pretty greedy man. Easy to bribe, knows how to keep secrets and he’s someone who is extremely crafty when it comes to handling money.

“If you give him fifty thousand, he’ll be able to provide you with a full scholarship. Problem solved right?”

Adrian nodded, “Yes, thanks a lot. I’ll go meet him once I accumulate enough money.”

He didn’t care about what would happen after that since he would get access to crypto through his system. With crypto in his arsenal, it was easier to manage his money.

A few minutes later, he parked the car in the hotel’s parking lot and opened the door for her.

Letty got out and pulled out a neat stack of hundred dollar bills before giving them to Adrian.

“Since you weren’t boring, I’m paying you double. Give me a text once you get into the university.” she said and began walking towards the hotel.

Adrian stared at the keys in his hands for a moment before running over to her and giving them back.

Once that was done, he headed to his car and drove to the supermarket in a hurry before spending the thousand dollars on even more card packs.

With almost all of his money spent, he drove back to the hotel and headed straight to his room with all the cards he had bought.

The clock struck twelve and Adrian glanced at the usual notification.

Five thousand to Ten thousand dollars.

With that done, he began ripping open the card packs one by one, which took him almost thirty minutes thanks to the sheer number of packs he had bought.

“Now… how do I know their value?” he muttered as he took out his beaten up phone and went through the internet until he found a legitimate website that had pretty accurate information on each and every card.

With the calculator open, he slowly began doing his calculations with the help of the website’s database until he made a list of all his cards and their values in his phone’s notepad.

This one took even longer, almost 10 whole hours and by the time he was done, it was almost noon.

Tired and sleep deprived, he drove out and deposited 1260 dollars in his bank before sending it to the rental shop’s account.

With his car rental extended to 7 more days, he spent the rest of his money on more cards and went to bed.

His money doubled from 10,000 to 20,000 and that was when he began to notice a problem. There weren’t enough cards in a single supermarket anymore.

He stared at the 12,000 dollars he still had and shook his head, “I have way too much money.”

The rest was spent on more cards but this time, from multiple other supermarkets before Adrian moved to a different city so he could buy even more cards.

He did it for two more days, tiring himself out to the extreme. Spending too much money in a single place would only arouse suspicion, so he ended up visiting multiple supermarkets to keep himself safer.

Midnight came quick but Adrian was way too tired to do much. All he could do, was smile when he saw the notification.

The one thing that made him happy.

Money Spent: 40,000 Dollars

Ding! You have received 80,000 Dollars.

Please select your mode of payment.

1. Cash

2. Bank Account

3. Others

“Cash…” he muttered before closing his eyes.

The next morning, he woke up around ten in the morning before sending Letty a text.

Adrian Wolfe: Do you know someone who sells jewellery or gold for cash?

Almost immediately, he got a reply.

Letty Garcia: Yes, multiple. But if you don’t want anyone to know your name and you wish to be completely out of the government’s radar, there are a few names.

Letty Garcia: Best way would be to buy gold bullion. You’ll need to pay a bit more than market price since the seller is taking the risk instead of you.

Adrian Wolfe: I have 80,000.

Letty Garcia: …

Letty Garcia: What?! Wait, if you had that much money… why did you even work for me for a mere 500 dollars?

Adrian ignored her question completely.

Adrian Wolfe: Send me the location.

Letty Garcia: Also, forget what happened that night. I was slightly drunk and I don’t handle alcohol well.

Adrian Wolfe: Okay.

Letty Garcia has shared a link.

Letty Garcia: You owe me, Adrian. I’ll think of something you can do for me later. See ya.

“I’m busy…” Adrian muttered as he sent her the same text and tossed his phone aside.

“Once I’m back, I’ll open up all the card packs.”

Kenny shook his head, his face turning grim. "It’s worse than just greed, Adrian. Pavlov likes keeping things hidden. He loves the concept of fake scarcity. He actually has the cure for cancer in his hands right now, but he hasn't released it to help the world. He won't."Adrian tilted his head. "Why not?""Because he owns multiple other pharmaceutical companies," Kenny explained. "Those companies make billions by selling pills and medicines that only treat the symptoms. They help a little, but they never fix the problem. If he released the cure, his other businesses would die. So, he keeps the real miracle for himself and sells the world a slow fix."Adrian nodded slowly. "Even though he has the things that can help humanity, he’s keeping them to himself and is using them as a way to make even more money. That logic is flawed, but it’s not like we can change his mind with words."The room went silent for a moment as Adrian looked at the amber liquid in his glass. He didn't care for t

One week had passed since the fire at the mansion. During that time, Adrian and Kenny had both played their parts in the silence, disappearing into the background of a city that was currently reeling from the sudden vacuum in the underworld.Adrian hadn't touched the situation directly, but he didn't leave things to chance. He had reached out to Mark, using the hacker’s skills to scrub every digital trace of that night. Every frame of footage from the docks, the street cameras near the car incident, and the security feeds from Kenny’s factory was purged. As far as the official record was concerned, those events were ghosts.Back in the present, Adrian walked through the lobby of a quiet, mid-range hotel. He moved with his usual lack of presence, drawing no eyes as he headed straight for the third floor. He reached room 306 and gave a sharp, rhythmic knock. The door opened almost immediately. Kenny stood there, looking much better than he had in the basement, though a few fading yellow

  • 110. Raid At Evan's Mansion 2

He dropped the empty, smoking pistols onto the floor. He began walking toward the main door where Evan was hiding. He knew he hadn't killed every single person in the mansion yet, but he also knew there was no need to hunt them down one by one. They were injured and they had no choice but to wait for him to take care of his real target first.Adrian stood before the intricate wooden door that led to Evan’s private quarters. He didn't bother kicking it down; he wanted control, not noise. He pulled out his lockpicking set, his fingers moving with a dexterity that felt supernatural. In less than two seconds, the tumblers clicked into place. He cracked the door open just a few inches, not enough for a man to see through, but just enough to toss in two more smoke grenades. The reaction from inside was instantaneous. Panic-stricken shouts were followed by the deafening roar of gunfire. Bullets shredded the wood of the door from the inside, splinters flying like shrapnel into the hallway. Ad

  • 109. Raid At Evan's Mansion

Adrian stood at the base of the final staircase. He looked at Kenny and tilted his head toward the exit. "Go outside and just wait for me. Use that shotgun if anyone tries to get close, but stay out of the house," he said. His voice was calm, which seemed to bother Kenny even more than the violence, but he nodded and started moving toward the backyard.Once Kenny was out, Adrian turned his attention to the stairs. He walked up the first flight casually. He knew from his system screens that the middle floor was empty. Evan had pulled every warm body he had to the topmost floor to create a human shield. As Adrian reached the landing, his posture changed. He became a ghost, his weight shifting so perfectly that the floorboards didn't even creak. He reached the bend in the stairs and slowed down. He kept his gaze angled up, scanning the railing. He was right to be cautious. A guard was standing at the very top of the steps, clutching a handgun with white knuckles. The man was sweating, hi

  • 108. I Want To Be Your Friend

Adrian sat down on the chair opposite to Kenny, his movements slow and deliberate. He remained silent for a few seconds, letting the weight of the situation settle between them, before he lifted two fingers."Two options for you. Or should I say, two offers," Adrian said. "One, I kill you along with Evan and wash my hands of this whole mess. Two, Evan dies and you come out alive, but you work under me."Kenny did not answer right away. He let out a painful chuckle, his chest heaving as he struggled to breathe. He coughed again, his face twisting into a deep frown as the movement jarred his broken ribs. He looked up at Adrian, his eyes searching the younger man’s face."All this because your friend got beaten up?" Kenny asked, his voice rasping."Why not?" Adrian asked back, his expression unreadable. "In fact, I will go deeper. There are people above you, aren't there?"Kenny’s gaze sharpened at those words, and he let out a long, heavy sigh. "Indeed. So you knew. I had a doubt that L

  • 107. It Really Was You

He moved silently, circling the perimeter of the mansion while using the thick trees as cover. He kept his movements slow and deliberate, ensuring he stayed out of the reach of the security lights. Once he reached the far side of the estate, he opened his system screen to check the feed from the camera following Evan. The sight on the screen made him pause. Kenny was tied tightly to a wooden chair in the center of a cold, concrete room. He had been beaten badly. Dark bruises covered his face and his shirt was torn, revealing more purple welts across his chest and arms. He looked exhausted, his head hanging low as he struggled with the pain.Adrian made the camera screen disappear and quickly opened the system shop. He began to scroll through the long list of available skills and items, looking for something specific."I need something that makes me invisible," he thought as he swiped through the options. He found several stealth related skills, but none of them reached the level of tr
