After Agent Collins had left, the Old Man sat in contemplative silence for nearly an hour. The young monk who served as his aide approached cautiously.

"Master, should we be concerned about the angry man?"

"Agent Collins is frustrated and dangerous," the Old Man replied. "But he is not the one I'm worried about."

The Old Man rose from his meditation cushion and walked to his private study, where he kept a secure communication device he had not used in years.

He dialed a number from memory, one he had committed to heart long ago but had never expected to use.

The phone rang twice before a familiar voice answered.

"Hello?"

"Alexander," the Old Man said simply.

There was a long pause on the other end. "Master? How did you get this number?"

"I have my ways. We need to talk."

"If this is about my activities with the Sphinx—"

As Faye began dragging the nightstand toward the bedroom window, she heard a distinct click, and suddenly the cabin's landline phone went dead."Yemin, something just happened," she whispered urgently. "I think the phone line just got cut.""Stay calm," Yemin's voice remained steady through her cell phone. "That means he's close, but you're doing everything right. Keep fortifying your position."Faye had just finished barricading the bedroom window when heavy footsteps echoed on the cabin's front porch. Her blood turned to ice as she heard someone testing the door handle. Then came the pounding—loud, deliberate, and terrifying."Hello, Faye," a cold, unfamiliar voice called through the door. "I know you're in there, sweetheart. Why don't you make this easy for both of us and just open up?"Faye pressed herself against the far wall, her phone clutched to her chest, too terrified to speak."I can hear you breathing in there, you pathetic little bitch," Vincent continued, his voice dripp

Faye stood frozen in the doorway, staring at the man who had tried to save her life, her mind struggling to process what had just happened."Oh God, oh God," she whispered, her hands shaking uncontrollably. "This can't be real. This has to be some kind of nightmare."She looked around frantically, expecting to see the assassin Derek had warned her about emerging from the shadows. When no immediate threat appeared, she quickly dragged Derek's body inside her cabin and slammed the door shut, her heart pounding so hard she could hear it in her ears."Think, Faye, think," she muttered to herself, her breath coming in short gasps. "What do I do? Who do I call? How do I even know if what he said was true?"She grabbed the heaviest chair in the room and wedged it under the door handle, then pushed the dresser against the door for additional reinforcement. Her phone sat on the nightstand

The line went quiet for a moment, then Derek's voice returned, weaker than before. "Roger that, boss. I'll protect her with my last breath."Yemin immediately dialed another number as he headed for the hotel's elevator. "Jack, bring the chopper to the roof of the Sterling Hotel immediately. Emergency extraction.""On my way, boss," his pilot replied without hesitation. "ETA five minutes."Meanwhile, at the mountain retreat, Derek Stone dragged himself to Faye's cabin door, leaving a trail of blood behind him. His shirt was soaked crimson from the deep knife wound in his side, but his determination remained unshaken. He pounded weakly on the door. "Miss Langford! Open up, it's an emergency!"Faye opened the door in her pajamas, her eyes widening in horror when she saw the blood. "Oh my god, what happened to you?""No time to explain," Derek gasped, stumbling into her cabin. "You're in danger. There's an assassin here, and he's coming for you. We need to leave now.""An assassin?" Faye'

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number, his expression remaining deadly calm."What are you doing now, calling your mommy?" the first bouncer laughed. "Maybe she can come pick you up and take you home where you belong.""Yeah, this pathetic loser probably thinks he can impress us by making fake phone calls," the second bouncer added with a sneer. The phone rang twice before a familiar voice answered. "Sterling Club management, this is David speaking.""David, this is the owner," Yemin said simply. "I'm standing outside the club right now, and your two bouncers have been incredibly unprofessional. I want them fired immediately.""Sir, I... of course, right away," David stammered, clearly recognizing Yemin's voice. "I'll be right down."The bouncers looked at each other and burst into laughter. "Did you hear that?" the first one said mockingly. "This clown thinks he owns the plac

Katherine stood up slowly, her wine glass dangling from her fingers. The fake sweetness disappeared from her voice, replaced by cold malice. "You know what, Faye? You're right about one thing—I am going to do something about this situation.""What's that supposed to mean?" Faye asked, suddenly feeling uneasy about Katherine's tone."It means that accidents happen all the time, especially in places like this," Katherine said with a chilling smile. "Mountain retreats can be so dangerous—people slip and fall off cliffs, get lost in the woods, have terrible accidents in their cabins. It would be such a tragedy if something happened to you."Faye's blood ran cold. "Are you threatening me?""I'm just stating facts about mountain safety," Katherine replied innocently, though her eyes gleamed with malevolent intent. "You should be very, very careful during your stay here, Faye. You never know what might happen to careless little girls who don't know their place.""You're insane," Faye whisper

There was something different about Katherine's demeanor—instead of her usual menacing hostility, she seemed almost... happy."Well, well, if it isn't the little gold digger," Katherine called out mockingly as Faye passed by.
