It was starting to get dark, Daniel still hadn't found a place to crash for the night. It also looked like it was going to rain.

Clouds turned grey in moments and the eerie feeling of a storm coming made Daniel's skin hair stand. If he couldn't spend out of his wealth then what?

Was he supposed to magically convince someone to just let him crash with them for the night?

Daniel Hayes grew up having no friends, all his life he dedicated it to his studies and grandfather. What many never knew about Daniel is how smart and intelligent he is.

All those years having no friends was the result of it. Except he had a love interest but... he would never consider it as one.

Daniel walked up miles upon miles, before he crashed on a road side bench, dehydrated. Daniel thought of getting a bottle of water but heck no, the legacy system was strict about its rules.

   Food, water—Daniel needed them, desperately.

Daniel clicked open his tab and focused his gaze more solely on the wealth bar.

  [ Wealth : $ 20,024,517.38 ]

  ...

Having so much yet unable to spend. Frustration ironed his face but he couldn't show it.

"The system forbids me from spending wealth, and at the same time, it is also playing silly tricks on me." Daniel then touched the wealth tab with his finger. "I hate tricks."

Just then, a downpour started, not too much, not too fast either. More of a signal to everyone to get off the streets while they can.

 But not Daniel.

Eitherway, he expanded the wealth tab.

 [ Wealth : $ 20,024,517.38 ]

 [ New Earnings : $ 20,000,000.00 ]

 [ Previous Earnings : $ 100,024,517.38 ]

 [ Old Earnings : $ 24, 517. 38 ]

 [ Profit share : $ 0 ]

 [ Expected Profit : $ 450, 000, 000 ]

 ...

 [ — TRANSACTIONS — ]

 [ $80, 000, 000 To Hamilton Rockwell ]

 [ $20, 000, 000 To Aurora Ferguson ]

" $ 24, 517..." Daniel made a low hum. "Must be the balance from one of my monthly cash in from Grandpa."

Before Harold Hayes fell sick, Daniel always received monthly allowance from him. This was something all Hayes didn't know.

Daniel never needed to beg his parents for money, they never really cared for him, only his elder brother; Marcus.

Daniel was tagged as the mistake made by two love birds. Yes, Daniel's parents considered him a mistake and because of Harold Hayes, they couldn't terminate the pregnancy.

And when Daniel was born, Harold took care of him till he clocked 18.

Daniel's monthly allowance was enough to slap Hayes on monthly bases.

Daniel's face wrinkled with annoyance. The wealth tab alone was a family tree. He remembered the system warned him not to spend a dime out of his wealth but,

"What if I spend from my old earnings?"

Daniel thought deeply about it, wealth is the total amount of everything in his assets.

But the same wealth had more to it. "I guess we won't know till we find out."

Daniel looked ahead, a motel. Just for the night, he told himself.

He pushed the door open and stepped in, but the moment he did, the downpour became so heavy that Daniel didn't want to look back.

He trailed towards the receptionist box. A young blonde lady sat there pressing her phone. Daniel overlooked her pretty face and tapped a finger to get her attention.

"Oh hi." She greeted him. "How may i—"

"I need a room for the night."

"Oh... right." She stole a glance from the window, seeing the heavy downpour outside. She felt lucky not to be in it.

She worked her fingers around the keyboard while her gaze focused on the screen.

Before a word could leave her lips, the door to the motel pushed open.

A woman staggered in before she pushed the door close. Daniel and the receptionist had eyes on her. None of them expected anyone to come in like that.

At least... Daniel was glad he wasn't the one lookin like that.

The lady in question was soaked all through, her hair plastered her face, make ups smudged beyond fixing. Her black gown clung to her skin revealing curves that men will die for but Daniel didn't take in her curves...

But her breathing, she was gasping, like she had been running for months.

Daniel gaze met hers, desperation lingered within, fear tightened around them.

Who or what was she running from?

She caught her breath and shot a glance at the receptionist as she forced herself towards the box.

"I need a room! now." Her voice was almost breathless as she reached, pushing away wet hairs from her face, her entire body trembling from the cold. "Please hurry, just for the night."

The receptionist wrinkled with confusion, the boy over there too wanted a room for the night and he seemed more than capable to pay, he wouldn't be stupid to have walked into a motel thinking he'd be able to get a room for the night with a thousand bucks right?

Actually, Daniel had planned to use the twenty four thousand for the motel, little did he know that it wasn't going to be enough.

The receptionist heaved a sigh, barely looking at her, "I'm sorry ma'am but we've only got—"

"I honestly don't care about what you have." She interrupted, "Please! I just need a room for the night, I can't go back out there."

Her voice was shaky, her body was trembling, deep down, Daniel felt she needed a room more than him but, the system and its mind games.

Daniel still couldn't help with the alluring scent from her. Despite being soaked in the rain, her fragrance was sure as hell strong.

Daniel found himself staring for a moment before the receptionist dropped the bomb.

"We only have one room left..."

Daniel's heart dropped into his stomach. For a moment, he had pictured that the motel only had one room left and he would be more than happy to let her have it but all that was just his silly imagination.

"Perfect," She said quickly. "I will take it, how much for the night?"

Daniel felt like saying something but he only heaved a sigh.

"But ma'am... we already have a guest waiting for that room." She gestured at Daniel.

The woman turned her head but saw no one till she set her gaze a bit lower. She had this fearsome height and if there's one thing Daniel fancied about women...

 ... is their heights

Her face almost crashed though, like she would start crying her eyes out any minute now.

Daniel felt the urge to say something but she was faster and much more desperate.

"How much for the both of us?" She asked,

Daniel and The receptionist had their jaws dropped. "Both of you?" The receptionist had to be sure,

The woman wiped her face. "Yes, the boy and me." she didn't even need to make any form of gesture to him.

"For the same room?" The receptionist adjusted her glasses.

 "Yes, what's the price again?"

The receptionist hesitated. "But ma'am, the room only has one bed... it's a room for just one individual."

The woman nodded in return. "It's fine by me, what's the price?"

 "Two million."

The Blackwell Manor. "You lost her?" A man's cold inhuman voice filled the entire room like a thunder clap. The men in black stiffened. These men in black were faction X soldiers. "I gave you all a simple task! capture the damn girl and finish her off for good and bring back the black card." His voice raises through "Honey relax, it's started raining after all, they must have been unable to see her during the storm." "Storm my foot." The man thundered. "They are super powered for fuck sake and she, Theresa has no skills whatever, she's just as useless as her father." He kicked the table beside him so hard it shattered. His eyes exploded with intense fury as he moved around, restless, provoked. Red hair, black tux, red tie, mid thirties. He grabbed one of the soldiers. "Where was the last place you saw her?" His eyes fuming with intense rage as he asked. "Sir, we have no clue, it started raining when he had her in plain sight, she disappeared into a crowd and by the tim

'Two million?' Daniel almost choked. 'So One million for a night?' Daniel couldn't believe it. But, the lady beside him, didn't question the receptionist. She handed over a black card, whatsoever she was running or hiding from definitely made her blind to the obvious. Daniel wouldn't pay that amount even if he was allowed to spend out of his wealth, it wouldn't be two million. Hell, Daniel felt a great urge to buy the motel and rebrand it, to make it fair for customers and employees. It was a simple motel, not even a five star hotel. For a moment, Daniel wanted to say something while the transaction happened but he remembered; the system—do not spend your wealth! ‘Fuck the rules.’ Daniel cursed. As the beep sound occured the woman spoke fast, "Keys." She really wanted to get out of there. Daniel couldn't argue with that, he also wanted to get some rest but the thought of having a lady with him was practically not part of the plan. The receptionist felt uncomforta

"H-how?! Who are you? Why are you helping Hamilton?" Aurora collected the cheque, gave it to one of the men immediately, "Ma'am it's real." The reply made her world halt in an instant. "So who are you?" Aurora faced Daniel. "You showed up out of nowhere, and the first thing you do is save Doctor Hamilton." Daniel remained unfazed. "I believe everyone has their own form of self interest. Just like you, I have mine." Aurora's face reddened with rage. She felt like giving an order for Daniel to get squashed like a bug but, whoever Daniel is, he had succeeded in preventing her from doing something she enjoyed doing the most with her time. For the first time ever, someone had thwarted her plans. She came closer, their faces inches apart. "I don't know who you are but mark my words, this isn't over yet." "Should I walk you out?" a playful gesture curled up Daniel's face. Aurora's face flushed with anger even more. Being double crossed and that by a boy? She stormed out of t

There were about two nurses outside watching him react in abnormal ways and wondered if he was okay. The lady by the side of the door took her eyes or the window, "What happened to him? He's looking like some final world boss about to take over the world." "Yeah right." The second nurse rolled her eyeballs with folded hands. "Didn't you see him, his manly pose?" "Oh come on, stop it, you don't even know this guy and you're being thrilled by him?" The lady held a look that asked if she was mad. The first nurse giggled and added. "But we have to admit he's cute." "You're impossible." She palmed her forehead "The patient hasn't received any visitor in five days, yet alone a flower." The first nurse didn't seem concerned as she said. "Well! That says he's not married." "Girl would you shut it! He looks 19, what a 26 year old gonna do with a kid?" "Kid or not, he's handsome." She seemed determined to make her move. "Nurse Vivian!" Another nurse rushed towards the two nurses
