Where Leo’s home stood, a crater was formed and there was no sign of life anywhere close to it. There was no way anyone would have survived an explosion that massive. Above the crater, three beings were hovering there. They resembled the ones that had attacked Leo’s home.

“So they failed to bring in Abigail and the core. I wonder what they were thinking when they tried to face Abigail. Did they forget that she was the same person who fought with Vallin? I don't even know why I was stupid enough to let them go for her when I knew that I could have come on my own.”

“You thought that there was going to be a chance that they wouldn't slip up, there was nothing there to tell you that you were sending fools to fight in a battle with a warrior you got a scar from. But for her to use a forbidden spell, it meant that she was trying to hide something from us. She also made sure that she killed the three useless soldiers we sent for her. There is no telling what might have been the secret she was hiding that made her even think of blowing herself up?”

“I don't know, but we can't put our plans on the sidelines for long, the age of chaos and the time of destruction is nigh.” The beings vanished from the scene, leaving the place like they were never there.

Back in the forest, Leo was still in a comatose state. The men were making sure that his wounds were being healed, and he was not going to be awake in the meantime. Leo kept moving uneasy in his sleep, having flashbacks of his past life and his mother dying. He kept seeing Abigail’s smile before she blew everything up.

“Oi Varrick, the boy is shaking violently in his sleep, I wonder what he is dreaming about,” one of the men said as he looked at Leo shaking in his sleep. The uneasy shaking coming from the boy was disturbing.

“It is clear that he went through some trouble, even though he is Vallin’s son. He has just survived one of Ivandale’s threats as a creature and there is no telling what he has been through before coming here. Come on Darwin, I know you are not thinking of waking up that boy like that. He might lose it.”

Varrick and Darwin were warriors who resided in the forest Heio, which was located in Sylvanmentra. They were Abigail's comrades, which was why the orb brought Leo to them.

Darwin rolled his eyes at Varrick's comment. “You think I am that cold? Please, I am not going to wake him up, I am only checking him for wounds that we might have missed.”

“He has all the features of a dragon pup, but his mother's druid blood runs through him. There is a chance that he will be Tri-elemental if he were to break all the seals.” Darwin smiled, he didn't even want to hold himself to think of what wonders the boy in front of him would be able to do.

“It will not be a surprise, his mother was a dual-elemental with a scary mana core. She was able to subdue Vallin before any of us could do anything to him,” Varek sat down to look at Leo. He was having a hard time remembering Abigail and what she could do.

The people of Ivandale were able to cultivate the mana surrounding them to control the elements, once anyone in Ivandale awakened the mana core within them. They would cultivate it until they got their affinity, humans could control one element at a time, and in rare cases, they would be dual elemental people who could control two elements.

People like Abigail had two elements; she had wind magic and could also control star magic due to her druidic training. It was something that no one would have even thought of doing. She was one of the few humans who had reached the highest form of druidic power.

But beings like Elves and Dwarves were naturally born dual elementals, they controlled wind, earth, lighting, and metal. They were some of the strongest creatures of Ivandale, and they posed a threat to the humans if they were ever to go berserk.

There were other creatures in Ivandale, but they were hidden from the people. They were rumoured to be covered in mana, and could destroy a continent if they were angered. Creatures like dragons were almost seen as myths or extinct beings that didn't even exist in the world.

“You saw what his father could do, a dragon king, the last of his kind. I only hope this boy won't make things hard for us while trying to make him train.” Darwin sat down to prepare something that would help Leo wake up. He didn't want to let anything hurt him.

“It's the first time we have seen a hybrid, but I know that he is going to be somewhat of a promising warrior.” Varek smiled as he watched his brother work, he didn't even do anything but wait for Leo to wake up.

Leo was stuck in somewhat of a trance, he had been wandering in what looked like a labyrinth in his dream. He had tried many times to get out.

“What in the world is going on here?” Leo sounded a bit frustrated. He looked around the empty void. It looked like an Observatory, the ceiling filled with stars, and he could see meteors moving in the void space. Leo had been trying for what looked like a lifetime. He didn't even know what he would do.

Feeling defeated, Leo stood at a place. “I am tired, how am I ever going to leave this place?” Leo stood up and looked around where he stood and didn't see a single life form.

“So I am stuck here? But where is this anyway?” Leo asked as he looked around the place he stood in. He was trying to find out if there was an opening for him to leave through. He was not even sure he knew how he was able to get into a place like that.

“You came here the moment you lost consciousness,” a voice said from above Leo. Leo had goosebumps when he heard the voice. It sounded deep and what people would call the voice of a god.

Leo looked up to see who was there, but he didn't see anything. It sent shivers down his spine. He didn't know what or who it was that was in place with him.

“There is no need to be afraid. You can't see me for now. You have not yet broken the first layer of the seal. But for you to enter this place means you have already started. Abigail did a good job.”

Leo's eyes widened when he heard his mother's name mentioned. “How do you know my mother? Who are you?!”

There were sounds of laughter coming from the voice, it seemed like it was happy to see Leo there. “You do look like her, but you seem to have that fire inside you. I know you will be someone great. For now, I can’t talk to you, but when you break the first layer of the seal you will be able to come back here, and I will tell you who I am.”

Leo was looking around, and he was sure that there was no way he would be able to find the person talking. “Who are you? And what are you trying to do?”

Leo was not ready to fight anyone, he was still shaken from his fight with the Orc Bear. But he was not going to let anything surprise him. “Do you know where this is? Can you help me get away from here?”

The voice gave off a light sigh, as he began to give Leo the answers he needed. “This is a space made for our kind, it is a place you will come to take rest whenever you lose consciousness. It is safe, since no being can come in here.”

Leo was confused further when he heard that he was different and not human, “What in the world do you mean by our kind? Are you not human? What are you trying to say?”

The voice scoffed, “Don't worry, you will know before the next time we meet again. I hope that you don't come here like this again. For now, goodbye Leo .”

“Wait what, how do you know who I am?” Before Leo could finish his words, he felt something pull him from the place he was standing. Leo then opened his eyes, taking a deep breath as if he had survived drowning.

Leo coughed as he struggled to sit up. He looked around the room he was in, noticing that there were so many things there. “Where in the world am I? What happened to that voice?”

“What voice? Did you visit the afterlife and somehow make it back to the living?” Darwin teased. Leo sprung up in fear when he heard Darwin’s voice. He turned to see a man standing there. The man had dark brown hair and deep blue eyes. He wore a sleeveless shirt and a coat that seemed to be made from an animal he had killed. The man looked fierce and intimidating, but his voice was a bit misleading.

“Sheesh, I am not that ugly. There is no need to hurt my feelings.” Darwin sat down as he handed Leo a bowl, “Drink this, it will help boost your stamina.”

Leo was still confused, and he didn't know what was happening. He only remembered facing a seven-foot-tall creature that almost killed him. But in what seemed like a dream, he killed the Orc Bear.

“Who are you? What of the Orc Bear? Did you kill it? And why are you giving me something to drink? I don't even know you, are you some kind of trafficker?” Leo was looking at the man, he didn't know who he was, and he was not going to take chances with anyone.

Darwin dropped the bowl to the ground, he had an irritated look on his face, but he was not sure what he would do to Leo. “For the love of heaven, you just asked five questions in under twenty seconds. If I wanted to kill you I would have done that after I saw you kill that Orc Bear!”

Leo was shocked when he heard what Darwin said, so it was not a dream. He was the one who had killed the Orc Bear. “You mean I killed that thing? How?!”

A vein almost popped out of Darwin’s head when he heard Leo’s question. “You questioned it to death! Just like you want to do to me now! My gods, you are just like Abigail.”

Leo went silent when he heard the man call his mother’s name. “You knew my mom?”

Cold sweat soaked both the pillow and silk beddings. Anaya's breathing moved fast while her heartbeat threatened to break her heart free from her chest. Everything appeared misty while the room continued spinning. Her panic caused yet another hyperventilation episode. But before she could descend into a further state of panic, soft warm hands took hold of her body, which were contrary to her own clammy, rough and pale hands. A gentle voice asked "Are you okay?" Anaya replied "Yes, I'm fine" through hurried nodding. Sydney gave Anaya a glass of water as she spoke. Anaya took the cup without a second thought and drank so quickly you’d think she’d been stranded in the desert for days. Droplets of water trickled from her lips down her neck due to her haste. Once the water was finished, she handed the cup back to Sydney, mumbling, “Thank you.” Sydney dropped the glass next to the bed before saying "You're welcome." She watched Anaya breathe while holding her hand and a gentle smi

  • CHAPTER 92: HEY ANAYA

Varrick sat by himself with a good book, Darwin sharpened his daggers and Sydney knitted sweaters in a chair as they waited for dinner. Then suddenly Leo and Jason appeared before them looking exhausted and distraught. Sydney smiled after recovering from the jump scare; “Looks like someone's acing the conjuring class.” With a few more praises to offer in their stocks, Varrick and Darwin prepared to join but stopped when they saw the girl Jason’s arms, pale and lifeless. "What happened?" Putting his book down and walking toward them, Varrick asked. "She just started hyperventilating, we don't know." Leo replied. "How long has it been?" Varrick began checking her pulse and vitals as he questioned them. For a moment, Jason's voice shook just softly and he could barely get the words out, "Thirty minutes… maybe more." Varrick inspected her palm, noticing the freshly reopened wound. He exchanged meaningful glances with Darwin, who had also caught sight of the injury. "Hand h

  • CHAPTER 91: SON OF LOTHR

"I'm not insinuating anything, Leo. Don't you get it? Sylvia is one of them." Leo turned to Jason and asked, "You don't think that's true, do you?" Jason averted his gaze, finding it hard to respond. "Jason?" Leo pressed, his hurt evident. Noticing the change in his tone, Jason quickly said, "I just think we shouldn't point fingers just yet... Although her relationship with the inspector is rather odd. Why didn't she tell us she knew her from the beginning?" Leo nodded and took a few steps forward. "Leo..." Jason called out, trying to salvage the situation, but Leo wasn't ready to listen. He simply continued walking away from where they stood. "Leo, wait. Anaya, say something," Jason urged. Neither of them seemed to care at that moment. "Let him leave. Once he has a clear head, he'll come back, and we can all go home," Anaya muttered, trying her hardest to stay calm. "You can't be serious, Anaya," Jason exclaimed. But Anaya's attention had shifted to a different subject en

  • CHAPTER 90: ONE OF THEM

They finally reached the open window but couldn't go in just yet. The principal was still in the room, and he looked livid. "Alright, Lady Sylvia, since you want to be difficult, let's see how smug you get when you're face-to-face with Miss Renee." Sylvia's face drained completely of color once the principal said those words. He grumbled a few more words and walked out in a huff. The sound of the door slamming made Sylvia jerk in fear. She looked incredibly pale, and her lips were cracked and had already started to bleed. Anaya's eyes softened slightly when she saw her, but looking at her palm again, she knew that she needed answers, and the sooner she got them, the better. They waited a few minutes before climbing in through the window. "Hello, Sylvia. How are you feeling?" Anaya asked, her attitude a little nonchalant. Sylvia quickly sat up, her body tensing and her eyes widening as she stammered, "What are you doing here? You can't be in here!" "Why? Something to hide, Sylvi

  • CHAPTER 89: LEAVE

"The principal went to see her. They probably think she's the one who did that to the field," Leo muttered, constantly pacing right outside the principal's office. Jason and Anaya gave each other meaningful glances, visibly trying to piece everything together. After Sylvia had fainted in front of them, they quickly rushed her to the school nurse. The school principal had gone in moments later, sweating profusely, with his eyes widened in shock. "Well, isn’t she?" Anaya asked sternly. "Of course not," Leo snapped, he never wasted any time when it came to defending Sylvia. Anaya swept her hands through her hair, her annoyance growing by the minute as she spoke. "My goodness, open your eyes, Leo. The evidence is overwhelming. Sylvia hasn’t been in school in days. I didn’t even see her at the gathering—did you?" she said, pointing at Jason. Jason tilted his head thoughtfully before slowly shaking his head. "Exactly. And then, the minute she shows up, she’s bruised and battered at

  • CHAPTER 88: A MESSAGE

The club festivities faded and the real party began in the school. They made their way into the school auditorium and noticed all that had been laid out. Music, amazing snacks, even a huge disco ball—the very best Scarlet Magic High School had to offer, and yet somehow someone didn't seem to like it. "This party is lame," Sebastian sighed, swirling his drink with a straw. "Not as lame as the ones royals throw," Leo remarked. Sebastian's eyes widened, his shock noticeable in his expression. He quickly turned to Jason, looking for some kind of validation. Royal gatherings had always been the talk of the kingdom; people who had the luxury of being in attendance just couldn't stop talking about it. Jason noticed Sebastian's gaze and slowly replied, "You'd be surprised." "That can't be true. Have you been to one, Anaya?" Sebastian asked, hoping she'd give him the answer he had been believing all his life. However, Anaya hadn't said a word for a long time. "Anaya? W..." Sebastia
