“What the fuck, man?!” Isaac Anderson groaned as blood dripped through the hand he held to his nose.

“That is for making my… for making Susan a national mockery, you bastard,” Julian's words were colder than the degree outside.

The snow started falling again. A few flakes decorated Isaac's face like a clown.

Susan rushed towards him, giving Julian a scathing look.

“Are you alright?” she said worriedly as she helped him up.

“That bastard broke my nose and lips!” Isaac said as he leaned on Susan.

Julian's lip curled with distaste as he saw the wife who had never shown him compassion treating another man like he was an egg.

Isaac also took advantage of the situation, holding Susan to his side, even as Susan dabbed his lips and nose with her silk handkerchief.

“You are seeking death, uhn? How can you touch Mr Anderson? Do you even know who he is?” Madea chirped.

Tired of their status-hungry comments, Julian began to turn away from Madea when Carlos struck his left cheek.

Carlos had a chunky ring he loved to wear.

The thong cut into Julian's skin, drawing blood.

As Julian glowered at the older man, Carlos sneered at him, “I see you have grown some wings, right? You are determined to ruin my family totally, you bastard! I told Dad then, but he wouldn't listen!”

Julian was one step away from throwing a punch in the elderly man's smug face.

Yet it was not in him to hurt an elder or a female.

Instead, he turned away and decided to leave the living room where they were all displaying their shamelessness.

“Where do you think you are going?!” Isaac’s voice stopped him. “You think you can just hit me and leave scot-free?! Get back here right now and apologise!”

Julian turned around with a raised brow. His formidable look flickered a bit when he saw Susan plastered to Isaac's side.

Still, he looked firmly away from her and raised his brow mockingly at Isaac.

“Apologise to you? Yeah, right. That will happen when you grow some decent bone.”

“How dare you…”

“Julian, why are you so stubborn? Apologise to Mr Anderson now or he will make you suffer. You are not even worthy to be compared to the dirt off his shoes. What makes you think you can act so arrogantly?”

Julian could not believe he had spent five precious years loving such a vain woman.

“You want me to apologise? Dream on. When you are done with your rutting dog, I have something to discuss with you.”

He turned away again.

“Come back here!” Isaac bellowed.

“Make me,” Julian returned without stopping.

Susan's voice reached him as she said, “Isaac, just leave this fool alone. We have important things to discuss.”

“Yes, you are right, my love,” his voice dipped low as he continued, “You know, I really enjoyed our time together last night.”

What the…

Julian turned around to see Susan blushing as she dipped her head with a whispered, “Isaac.”

Susan, blushing?

Women really can be extra soft with the men they really want.

While she had always been like a ferocious lion when talking to him, Susan was now purring like a cat as Isaac pulled her tighter to his side.

His hand roamed lower down her waist until it was cupping her butt.

With his eyes on Julian's, Isaac said, “I can't wait to enjoy you more. What about…?”

Carlos coughed uncomfortably, finally drawing Isaac's attention.

Embarrassed colour stained his ruddy cheek as he gave Isaac a fawning smile, “We are happy to have you here, Mr Anderson. It's so good to see how much you love my daughter. Not to cut your… erm, talk short, but we need to sort this issue out. This scandal could ruin my family.”

“You are right, Mr Gibson. I am sorry for getting carried away. Your daughter is far too beautiful,” Isaac said as he came forward to shake Carlos's hand.

“I see where she gets her beauty from,” he said with a charming smile at Madea.

Madea preened like a peacock, patting her chignon-styled hair in place as she said, “Oh, Mr Anderson. You flatter me.”

“Just saying the truth,” Isaac said, pushing the right button of the vain Mrs Gibson.

Since he couldn't leave immediately anyway, Julian leaned against the wall and watched the Gibsons make a fool of themselves in front of the man who had such a calculating glint in his eyes that confirmed Julian's suspicion.

Anderson had something to do with that video.

“Well, don't just stand there. Go and get him something to drink. Make yourself useful,” Madea yelled at him.

Julian didn't even blink as he stared expressionless at them all.

Madea was about to step towards him when Susan laid a hand on the sleeve of her pink-sequined dress.

“Mom, leave him. Don't let him ruin this,” she stated.

“Yeah, Mrs Gibson. I won't take anything he brings anyway. What if he poisons it?” Isaac asked with a mocking look directed at Julian.

He was still angry about getting hit from earlier. He would surely take care of that lowlife once he had handled what he came here for.

Nobody laid his hands on him without paying dearly for it with their lives.

“Julian wouldn't…”

“Oh, you are right. Why didn't I think of that?” Madea cut Susan short.

Then she yelled for the maids.

“Mom, you fired them before you left, remember?” Susan reminded her in an embarrassed tone.

“Wait, why would I…”

Madea remembered as she looked over at Julian's nonchalant face.

She had sent the few maids they had left away, saying they didn't need to spend extra money when they had Julian to do all the work.

“And now, the idiot is trying to make us lose face! I will handle you later,” she thought furiously.

Then turned to Isaac, “Don't worry, I will get you the drink. Consider it my way of properly welcoming you to the family,” she smiled broadly.

“Oh, I wouldn't want to bother you. But if you insist, ma'am, may I have a glass of Chateau Cheval Blanc?”

Madea looked embarrassed as she responded, “Oh, I am sorry, we don't have that.”

A drink worth about half a million dollars? Who would casually have such a drink at home? She wondered in awe.

Obviously someone like him, which is even why it is important that her daughter make this connection with him.

Having a man like him as a son-in-law was winning the jackpot.

  • The Betrothal

Julian went past his bedroom to the massive chrome and black dressing room filled with luxury clothes, footwear, and accessories. They all held no interest for him as he went to a shelf at the end of the room.Atop it was the picture of a beautiful brunette and a golden-haired man. The love between the two pulsed through time as they smiled at each other like their world began and ended with one another. Julian’s hand tightened slightly on the frame before he set the picture aside. His finger traced the smooth wood. Then a quick finger scan made a clicking sound. Julian stepped back as the upper part of the shelf retracted and flipped upside down.An eerie glow bathed the room, and the light from the shelf focused on the opposite wall. Almost immediately, a beeping fingerprint scanner appeared on the wall.Julian placed his fingers on it, and the smooth wall immediately parted, opening inward. Lights came on in what looked like a high-tech office as Julian stepped inside. The w

  • Urgent Call

Julian sat straight as the limo that picked them up at the helipad wound its way through the artistically designed driveway that led to the house. While the Gibsons' mansion was part of an estate, the Cross's home sat regally on a seven-acre estate, with every sort of amenity like a golf course, orchards and a greenhouse. The flower-edged drive soon opened up to a magnificent sprawl of a mansion that was more than five times the size of the Gibsons’ home.A bittersweet feeling swept through Julian as he remembered the time he had finally come here to live. After his parents' death. Just like back then, his grandpa was standing outside on the vast porch. Julian got out as soon as the limo opened. The old man leaning on a golden cane looked formidable despite his advanced age and white tuft of hair. His checkered shirt, cargo trousers and chunky silver wristwatch only added to his commanding presence. Eyes that mirrored Julian's fixed on him as if he could not believe his eyes.

  • The Command

The so-called nobody made a call as soon as he left the estate, which had been his hole for five years. “I am ready,” he said into the phone. “Oh, what wonderful news, Mr. Cross. I am on my way.” Julian disconnected the call and raised his face to the cool air. Despite how tempting it was, he refused to look back at the past. He had only walked a few paces when four black Aston Martins and a limo parked beside him. Men in black suits jumped down from the four cars and bowed to him. A distinguished older man in a white suit got down from the car and walked briskly to him. “Welcome back, Young Master.” “Thank you, Henry,” Julian said. He entered the limo the older man gestured at.Henry Petrovich was the most dignified man in Jetrovale. He was only second to his master, Harold Cross, Julian's grandfather. Despite Henry's influence in Jetrovale, he was still acting as a companion and assistant to Harold in Quiset. Harold had singlehandedly raised Henry from the slums of Quise

  • He Wouldn't Dare

Cecile burst into laughter beside her. Susan looked at her friend's face in question before Cecile tried to stop her laugh. “I am sorry. It’s just…” she turned to Julian with a mocking look. “I have always known you are such a big baby, and an attention-seeker. But this? I will admit I didn’t expect you to sink this low.”“What is she talking about?” Julian wondered, his gaze intent on her. Slightly surprised by his cold look, Cecile continued anyway, “Just because Susan is finally getting the kind of man you will never be, you are throwing tantrums? What, you bought a fake stamp to make it look real just to get her attention. What a loser!”Susan frowned as she looked at the court stamp already on the document close to where Julian had already signed. Of course, it was fake. She had never heard of any divorce agreement getting stamped before signing. She couldn’t believe Julian would be so shameless that he would even commit the crime of impersonating a judge.Earlier, she had e

  • Divorce Papers?

Julian looked down to see the thirteenth missed call from Susan. Such a sight would have lightened his heart twenty-five hours ago.In their five years of marriage, he could count how many times she had called him on one hand. Those less than five times had always been to scold him about something.“Well, not anymore,” Julian vowed. He threw the last feed in his hands into the duck pond and smiled as the ducks rushed to get their shares. He was going to miss some things about this place after all.The park had always been his place of solace, where he came to clear his head when the mansion got too intolerable for him. It was also where he had made some of the deals that were currently shaping the global markets.“Time to end this,” he muttered as he waved at the ducks.Greedy, his favourite duck, took a moment to look at him. It quacked and went back to chomping.Julian snorted a laugh, which lifted a bit of the gloom in his heart. He could have sworn the duck heard him. Then

  • The Engagement

By the time Isaac mentioned two more several-million-dollar drinks, and the family's embarrassment was increasing, he finally asked for a glass of water. Madea rushed off to get it, glaring at Julian as if he were the root of all their problems.“I apologise about that, Mr Anderson. Now that we know what you like to drink, we will make sure we have it when next you visit,” Carlos said brightly.“Oh, it is fine,” Anderson said with a benevolent smile. “The ones I mentioned are the least expensive of my kind of drinks, actually. I just thought every home would at least have that.”Carlos cleared his throat at the subtle insult. Julian almost laughed at the irony of it all. The man who had never spared him a kind word, despite his dedication all these years, was bending backwards for another man and even taking insults without a word?Money sure does make a lot of difference. If only these fools knew.Susan looked uncomfortable as she changed the topic. “Isaac, about the scandal…”“Yes
