Chapter 3

“But I did nothing, I was just giving you a helping hand.” Mark took some distance away from the girl’s clothes before admitting.

“Your father,” She said pointedly, “Get your ass off here. And if you must know, there’s no house available for you.” She said and focused on what she was doing before his arrival.

“But it’s written on the door that it’s for rent. I’m sure it hasn’t been taken yet,”

“You are right, it’s written there that it’s for rent, but I won’t rent it out to you.” She affirmed.

“Why won’t you?” He asked hopelessly.

“Hahaha,” She mocked, “Are you seriously going to ask that stupid question? Look at yourself and tell me if it’s worth renting my apartment to a worn out dude like you.” As soon as she uttered, Mark looked at himself. He wanted to know what was wrong with him.

“What’s bad about me? I don’t see any reason why you are refusing to lend me the house.” He said.

“Look how tattered you are, do you think I have the intention of giving out my house to someone who will keep begging me when the rent is due? I don’t have time to waste with poor dudes like you, so please go somewhere else.”

“I promise that I’m gonna pay when the rent is due,” He tried to persuade the lady but she was done with him.

It’s only his driver who succeeded in grabbing her attention. He arrived later when Mark had an unpleasant encounter with her. He was fast enough to know that it didn’t go well.

“Hello,” He said, causing the lady to turn and look at him.

“Hello Sir, you are welcome. Is there anything I can do for you?” She asked, paying full attention.

“I want to rent the house,” He went straight to the point.

“Okay sir, there are some modalities…”

“I don’t care. How much will a yearly rent cost?”

“Wow,” The lady said beneath her lips. No one in the neighbourhood had ever rented an apartment on a yearly fee. The most they had gone was seven months.

“Sir, I’ll be quick with it. Let me get my calculator, I’ll be fast about it.” She said, and he nodded his head, giving her the necessary time she needed to do whatever she said.

While she went inside to get the rent calculated, Badmun; Mark’s driver leaned and asked his boss if this was the apartment he really wanted for himself.

“Boss, I don’t think you should stoop this low. I could swallow the fact that you were married to Mr. Carter’s daughter, that’s because you two were living in a mansion. This right here is uncalled for, I’m sure your dad is gonna get mad at you if he finds out.”

“Badmun, this is solely my decision, okay? You don’t have the right to reveal this to my dad. I want to create my own wealth before returning home. I hope I can count on you to keep this secret?” Mark pondered,

“Young master, but you don’t have to walk down that road, your family already took the risk and today they are fine, they made you the sole heir to all the Blue and Rain hotels in all the countries across the world, what else do you want?” Badmun leaned again, making sure to keep his tone very low,

Mark remembered a situation which occurred nine years ago, and that left a smile on his face. He had promised himself to create wealth by himself and that, not even Badmun was gonna make him change his mind.

Been the only son of an influential couple, he was always mocked by his friends because they accused him of being a mommy’s boy. Mark had always loved to be among the less privileged, but it seems they took his friendship for granted.

This issue took a pick when he had accidentally batched his friend’s car. That night he went out for a celebration, on coming back, the dude was tipsy and didn’t have full control of himself. When the accident occurred, his friend poured out insults on him, telling him he did that solely because his father was a rich guy and that he could count on him to get him out of that situation.

This left a big hole in Mark’s heart. It was quite desperate to find out that his friend embarrassed him in that manner. He didn’t see it in the perspective of an accident, rather he saw it in the light of him doing it intentionally because his father was an influential person.

Mark decided not to go home that night, he left for another city where he fell in love with Hailey some few months and quickly got married. He didn’t know that his search for being independent was gonna bring him love and then lost.

“Badmun, there is nothing you can do to make me change my mind, okay? All I need from you, is that you keep my secret from my father, he doesn't have to know where I live, what I do and what I’m becoming. When he asks about me, tell him I’m fine and that I’ll soon meet with him.” After that powerful speech, what could Badmun say apart from nodding his head?

They heard creeks from the door, and Badmun took some distance away from him. He wanted to keep a professional relationship away from his master.

“Sir, I calculated everything. You’ll pay a minimum of 7,600 bucks for the yearly rent of this apartment. I know you are gonna complain that it’s expensive, but before you say anything, I want you to visit the apartment with me, from there you’ll see how large and Sophisticated the apartment is.” She said, making Badmun smirk. The last sentence was indeed hilarious.

“Well, there’ll be no time for that, I’m an occupied person. Just forward me your details and I’ll make reservations now.” He uttered, waiting for the necessary information.

“Okay sir, here are my details..” She wrote down her details on a clean sheet of paper and handed it over to him. In a space of one minute, he had sent 8,000 bucks to her account.

“Sir, I just received the money. Let me prepare the receipts and the contract.” She said joyfully, but Badmun was in a haste, the master just left him a message, requesting his presence.

“Make the reservations in his name, I got the apartment for him.” He said, referring to Mark.

After that, he turned his back and started leaving the place. The lady won’t just let him go, she kept screaming at him to stop so to get his personal details. There was no time, so he didn’t stop.

“Damn, I just lost him.” She muttered beneath her breath.

It was getting late and Mark was still not done with the arrangement of his new apartment. The area was in a messy situation, as such it took him a long period of time to get the place cleaned up.

The heater of the living room seemed to have a problem. He tried it several times but it didn’t come on. He had to swallow hard because he knew he had to get to the lady’s apartment to ask if there’s a way she could help with that.

“Mark, you have to do this, it’s for your safety.” He gulped and then started leaving for the place.

Ding!

A knock came from the door. Mark stopped in his steps and went a little backward. He just had this apartment, and there was someone knocking on it. Just Badmun was aware of where he stayed. Did he betray him? He pondered.

The second knock came, a little harsher than the first one. There was no point for him hiding himself. He decided to get to the door and see who it was.

Behold, when he opened the door, he was faced with the same lady who didn’t want to address a single word to him some hours back. She was in a sexy red fitted robe that exposed her cleavage. Her mini purse matched her mascara and her heels were the same colour as her robe.

“Wow,” The first thing he said when the door was left open. His adrenaline got back to normal when he came in contact with her.

“Struggling with something, not so?” She asked, her facial expression demonstrating she was aware of something.
