Carina leaned her entire body weight against Darius as they walked toward the brightly lit club exit. Her heart beat incredibly fast against her chest. She realized his hidden identity was far more complex and terrifying than she ever imagined. He was not just a rich businessman. He was a supreme king of the underworld. She completely admired his silent immense power. She knew she had to win him over tonight.
"My head spins so much." Carina wrapped her arms tightly around his neck. "Please take me back to my hotel room."
"I will call a driver for you." Darius held her waist carefully to keep her steady.
"No driver." Carina pressed her soft cheek against his dark coat. "You must take me upstairs yourself."
In the dark corner of the VIP lounge, Gina watched them leave. Gina narrowed her eyes in pure utter disgust. She grabbed her expensive phone quickly. She dialed Caroline immediately.
"What do you want?" Caroline held the phone to her ear with absolute freezing coldness.
"Your pathetic loser husband is here at the club." Gina watched the front door with a mocking smirk. "He is dragging some drunk woman out right now."
"He is absolute dirt." Caroline rolled her eyes in sheer disgust. "He cannot even afford a decent meal without my money. Who would want a useless piece of trash like him?"
"It looks exactly like Carina." Gina shook her head in complete disbelief. "Why would a successful woman touch your dirty servant husband? He truly belongs in the street garbage."
"He is probably begging her for a cheap menial job." Caroline examined her flawless manicure under the bright light. "He knows I am divorcing his worthless self. He is a pathetic parasite looking for a new rich host to drain."
"Are you seriously letting him roam around the city?" Gina took a slow sip of her bright red cocktail. "People will think you tolerate this pathetic behavior."
"Everyone already knows he is a useless loser." Caroline tapped her expensive shoes on the marble floor. "I only married him to please my grandfather. He has always been a cheap maid in my beautiful mansion. Now he is acting like a stray dog begging for scraps."
"He definitely looks like a dirty beggar." Gina pointed her glass toward the empty hallway. "He was holding her like he had never seen a real woman before."
"Because he is a completely repulsive creep." Caroline gripped her phone with pure venomous hatred. "He disgusts me. He is literal dirt beneath my expensive shoes. He is nothing compared to Lorenzo. Lorenzo is my absolute first priority and a true king."
"Should I follow them to the hotel?" Gina tapped her sharp shiny nails on the glass table.
"Do not waste your precious time on a loser." Caroline waved her hand with utter cruel indifference. "He is completely dead to me. Just let the trash take itself out."
The heavy hotel room door clicked shut loudly. Carina pushed Darius roughly against the solid wooden wall. She did not look drunk anymore. Her eyes burned with intense fiery desire. She wrapped her arms around his broad strong shoulders. She pressed her lips passionately against his mouth.
Darius froze completely for a single brief second. Three years of cold rejection and absolute misery clouded his tired mind. He finally felt wanted by a beautiful woman. He closed his eyes and kissed her back deeply.
"You are so incredibly perfect." Carina unbuttoned his dark coat with eager trembling fingers. "Caroline is a complete blind fool to throw you away like useless garbage."
"You drank way too much tonight." Darius held her bare arms gently but firmly.
"I am completely sober in my heart." Carina kissed his warm neck with intense burning passion. "I want to be yours tonight."
Darius ran his hands down her slim soft waist. His rationality slowly slipped away in the heated heavy moment. Carina pulled her expensive designer dress down her smooth shoulders. The soft fabric dropped completely to the carpeted floor. Darius let his heavy coat fall right next to her dress. The quiet room filled rapidly with their heavy fast breathing.
Suddenly, a loud obnoxious ringing noise pierced the silent room.
Darius stopped moving instantly. He recognized the specific custom ringtone immediately. It was his cold wife. His burning desire vanished completely in a single quick heartbeat.
"Ignore it completely." Carina pulled his handsome face back down toward her eager lips.
"I need to answer this call." Darius stepped back quickly and picked up his phone.

CHAPTER 97
She lifted her chin and smiled with the cold, practiced elegance she had perfected over years of social climbing.Derek looked at her the way someone looks at a fly that has landed on the rim of their wine glass. His eyes moved from her face to her borrowed diamond necklace to her credit card heels and back up again with an expression of pure, undiluted indifference."I have never heard the name Marcus in my life," Derek spoke flatly, tucking one hand into his pocket. "And the only Mrs. expected tonight is someone entirely different. Someone who, I can assure you, would not be found standing in a parking lot arguing with security guards."Caroline's polished smile cracked right down the center."Now if you'll both excuse me," Derek turned away from them with the casual dismissal of a man brushing crumbs off his sleeve. "I have actual guests to attend to."Marcus opened his mouth, some desperate combination of syllables forming on his swollen lips, but before a single sound could escap
CHAPTER 96
The cold had sunk into Caroline's bones like poison. She shifted her weight from one aching heel to the other, arms wrapped around herself, teeth clenched against the freezing night air that had been gnawing at her exposed shoulders for the better part of an hour."How long has it been," she muttered through tight lips, staring at the glowing entrance of the Grand Meridian in the distance.Marcus checked his phone with stiff, trembling fingers. "Fifty three minutes.""Fifty three minutes," Caroline repeated, her voice hollow. "Standing in a parking lot. In the dark. Like animals."They watched in bitter silence as yet another luxury sedan pulled up to the red carpet. A couple in evening wear stepped out, laughed at something the doorman whispered, and strolled straight through the gilded entrance without so much as a glance from the security team."That's the sixth car," Marcus pressed the napkin harder against his swollen lip, the dried blood cracking at the edges. "Six cars. Every s
CHAPTER 95
From every corner of the entrance, from behind the pillars, from inside the lobby doors, a dozen more security staff materialized like shadows given form. They moved in tight, practiced formation, surrounding Caroline and Marcus in a circle of black suits and earpieces and cold, expressionless faces. Each one had a hand pressed to their earpiece, fingers poised, ready for the next command.Caroline's fury evaporated like steam off hot pavement. Her pointing finger slowly lowered to her side. Her open mouth closed. Her shoulders, which had been squared with righteous anger a moment ago, curved inward as the reality of being surrounded by twelve large men with no sense of humor pressed down on her like a physical weight. She said nothing. For the first time in as long as Marcus had known her, Caroline said absolutely nothing."Move your vehicle," the head guard spoke with clipped authority, jerking his chin toward the parking lot. "Clear this entrance immediately. The real VIP will be a
CHAPTER 94
The gilded doors swung open and the head guard stepped back out onto the red carpet. His face was blank, his hands clasped behind his back, his posture carrying the rigid discipline of a man who had just received very specific instructions from people far above his pay grade.Marcus pounced before the guard's second foot hit the carpet."There he is," Marcus spread his arms wide with the magnanimous smile of a king greeting a peasant who had finally learned his place. "I trust you've spoken with your supervisor and realized the enormous mistake you've made tonight. Now, I'm a reasonable man. I understand that low level employees sometimes fail to recognize important people. It happens."He paused, letting the words hang in the air like a gift he was generously offering."So here's what we're going to do," Marcus clasped his hands behind his back, mimicking the guard's posture with theatrical authority. "You're going to kneel right here on this carpet, in front of your colleagues, and
CHAPTER 93
The Grand Meridian Hotel looked like it had been dressed for the arrival of a god. A hundred feet of deep crimson carpet stretched from the gilded entrance doors all the way to the street, flanked on both sides by uniformed staff standing shoulder to shoulder in perfect military formation. Enormous golden banners hung from the building's facade, each one embroidered with the same words in letters tall enough to read from three blocks away.Welcome Supreme Master. The rented black Mercedes pulled up to the curb and Caroline pressed her face against the tinted window, her freshly applied lipstick nearly smudging against the glass. Her eyes went wide, then wider, then so wide the whites showed all around her irises."Marcus," she breathed, grabbing his arm with both hands. "Look at this. Look at what they've done. This is incredible. This is beyond anything I imagined."Marcus leaned across her to peer through the window and his jaw dropped open. The red carpet. The golden banners. The r
CHAPTER 92
"I know," Darius cut her off gently. "Let them in anyway. No resistance at the door. No questions from security. Let them walk through the front entrance believing they are honored guests. Give them a table. Give them champagne. Let them feel comfortable."A pause on the other end. "You want them comfortable," Elena repeated slowly, the pieces clicking into place behind her words."Comfortable people don't guard their expressions," Darius watched a plane cross the distant sky, its lights blinking red and white against the darkness. "Comfortable people show the whole room exactly who they really are.""Understood," Elena's voice tightened with focus. "What's second?""The evidence package on Lorenzo's criminal enterprise. The forged import documents, the shell companies, the customs bribes, the money laundering records. I want every piece of it compiled, verified, and formatted for presentation. Physical copies and digital. Have it ready before the dinner begins.""It's already halfway
