Charles continued to stare at his phone in disbelief, his heart pounding with a mixture of excitement and confusion. Ten million dollars had miraculously appeared in his bank account.

He rubbed his eyes vigorously, hoping to remove any lingering drowsiness that might be clouding his perception. Yet, the message remained unchanged, shining brightly on his screen. How was this possible?

And more importantly, who could have sent such an extraordinary sum of money his way? As he pondered these questions, a surge of hope swelled within him.

With this newfound fortune, he could finally put an end to the impending marriage between his ungrateful wife, Emma, and that conniving Jerry. Perhaps this unexpected twist of fate could reignite their love and rekindle the flame that had once burned brightly.

Although Emma seemed distant and uninterested, Charles’s love for her remained steadfast, buried deep within his heart.

Determined to uncover the mystery behind the windfall, Charles made a swift decision. He would head to a nearby hotel first, a sanctuary where he could gather his thoughts and devise a plan to uncover the truth.

With a mix of anticipation and hesitation, he called a taxi and jumped in. Arriving at the hotel, Charles settled into an armchair, his mind racing with countless scenarios and possibilities.

Just as he began to formulate a strategy, his phone buzzed, startling him. An unfamiliar number flashed across the screen. Curiosity overpowering caution, he answered the call.

“Hello?” Charles said tentatively, unsure of what to expect.

A deep voice responded, “Is this Mr. Charles Griffin?”

“Yes, it is. Who is this?”

“I am Wilson Higgins, the lawyer for your late uncle.”

Charles’s heart skipped a beat, his mind immediately puzzled. “My uncle? What uncle?” Charles asked, his voice laden with confusion.

“I’m sorry to inform you that your uncle from your mother’s side who was the owner and CEO of Oscorp Enterprises has passed away,” Wilson replied gravely. “He left behind a detailed will, and to your surprise, he has named you as his sole heir.”

Shock washed over Charles like a wave. He struggled to process the magnitude of the news.

A billionaire uncle, who until now, Charles had no idea of his existence, had died and had bequeathed everything he owned to him—his multimillion-dollar company, his assets, and now, this immense fortune that had magically appeared in his bank account.

Speechless, Charles managed to stammer, “But… why? I… I don’t understand. Why would he do this?”

“Your uncle held you in the highest regard, Charles,” Wilson explained gently. “He saw in you the potential for greatness, the same qualities that had driven him to achieve his own success. He believed that you could carry on his legacy and make a positive impact on the world.”

Tears welled in Charles’s eyes, a mix of grief and confused washed over him. Feelings of gratitude for the unexpected gift bestowed upon him also filled him. “I… I don’t know what to say,” he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.

“Take your time, Charles. When you’re ready, we can discuss the details of your inheritance. But for now, remember that your uncle had faith in you, and he wanted you to have this opportunity to shape your own destiny.”

The weight of the moment hung in the air as Charles absorbed the news. His world had been upended in a matter of hours, his path forever altered.

With newfound purpose and the means to reclaim his love, he resolved to honor his uncle’s trust and prove himself worthy of the legacy he had been entrusted with.

Charles sat on the edge of the plush hotel bed, his heart racing as he listened intently to the voice on the other end of the phone. The lawyer's words echoed in his mind, a surreal symphony of disbelief and hope.

“Charles,” the lawyer’s voice crackled through the receiver, “I can confirm that the ten million dollars you just received was indeed sent by me on behalf of your late uncle’s estate.”

Charles felt a wave of emotions wash over him. From being penniless and cast aside by Emma’s family, he now found himself on the cusp of unimaginable wealth.

He couldn’t fathom how his mother had kept this secret hidden from him all these years. Questions swirled in his mind, but he kept his composure.

“Are you saying I’m a millionaire now?” Charles asked, his voice trembling with excitement and disbelief.

A brief pause followed, before the lawyer’s deep voice responded, “Indeed, Charles. Your uncle’s fortune has been left to you, and you are now the sole beneficiary. It seems he held a great deal of affection for you, despite the lack of contact over the years.”

Charles let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. The weight of his past struggles began to lift, replaced by the tantalizing possibilities of the future.

He couldn’t help but wonder what his life would have been like had he known about his wealthy uncle sooner.

“Why didn’t my mother ever tell me about my uncle and his empire?” Charles asked, a mix of curiosity and slight resentment seeping into his voice.

The lawyer’s response was measured, almost sympathetic. “Your mother was instructed by your uncle to keep his existence a secret from you until the appropriate time. He had his reasons, which I’m sure will be revealed in due course.”

Charles nodded, though the gesture was invisible to the voice on the other end of the line. A mix of emotions swirled within him, but he knew he had to focus on the present. The lawyer’s next words snapped him back to reality.

“I would like to meet you in person, Charles,” Mr. Wilson suggested. “I think it’s best if we discuss the details and have you sign the necessary documents. How about tomorrow at 9 am? You can come to the company.”

Charles felt a mix of anticipation and nervousness. Oscorp Enterprises, the renowned corporation his uncle had built, was now his to inherit. He wondered if he was capable of taking on such a responsibility, but a newfound confidence surged through his veins.

“I’ll be there,” Charles replied, his voice firm. “9 am.”

The lawyer's tone conveyed a hint of pride. “I knew you would make the right choice, Charles. Your uncle would be proud. I’ll see you tomorrow then.”

Charles’ heart pounded on. The phone call with the lawyer seemed to have consumed his entire morning, leaving him with a sense of urgency that now engulfed the room.

A bead of sweat trickled down his forehead as he clutched the receiver tightly, his voice low and filled with determination.

“Listen, Mr. Higgins,” Charles said, his voice cracking slightly, “I need you to transfer ten million dollars to Adam’s Corporation immediately. I want it done before our meeting tomorrow. This is possible right?”

On the other end of the line, a brief silence hung in the air before Mr. Higgins responded. “Yes it is, basically you own everything now. But ten million, you say? That’s quite a substantial sum, Charles. May I ask why the urgency?”

Charles took a deep breath, his mind racing with thoughts what to say next to the lawyer. “Oscorp Enterprises, my newly acquired inheritance, needs this injection of capital to secure its future I’m sure. Adam’s Corporation is my wife’s family company, and I want to ensure their cooperation.”

Mr. Higgins paused for a moment, the scratching of a pen filling the silence. “Very well, Charles, I will arrange the transfer immediately. Shall I include any specific instructions or is a general deposit sufficient?”

Charles leaned back against the headboard, contemplating the weight of his request. “No, just a general deposit. But there’s one more thing, Mr. Higgins. I want my identity as the new CEO of Oscorp Enterprises to remain hidden for the time being. Confidentiality is crucial.”

The lawyer’s voice remained calm and professional as he assured Charles, “I understand, Charles. Your wish shall be respected. The transfer will be made promptly and discreetly.”

Relief washed over Charles as he thanked the lawyer. Hanging up the phone, he stared into the distance, his mind a whirlwind of uncertainty and ambition.

The fate of Oscorp Enterprises now rested in his hands, and he was determined to grab the opportunity, whatever it took.

As the room fell into silence once more, Charles gazed out of the window, the city’s shimmering lights mirroring the dreams that danced in his eyes.

With the wheels of fate set in motion, he knew that the path ahead would be challenging, but the prospect of success fueled his determination, propelling him towards the challenges that awaited him in the corporate world.

With that, the call ended, and Charles placed the phone back on the bed. The silence of the hotel room engulfed him, but his mind buzzed with excitement.

He couldn’t help but imagine the possibilities that lay before him. From the depths of poverty and rejection, he was now poised to become a CEO, an influential figure in the business world.

As he stared out of the hotel window, he marveled at the unpredictable twists and turns life had taken. Tomorrow would mark a new beginning—a chance for Charles to redefine himself and carve his own destiny in the world of wealth and power.
