It all started from false allegations.
Just like with the histroy of all false allegations, they came out of nowhere. A report of half a million dollars missing from the Town Square Project, one of the company’s most money making ventures in literal years. Maximus had been the manager overseeing it, which made him the perfect fall guy. At first, he thought it was a mistake. Then realized it wasn’t just about the missing half a million. One of his co-workers, a woman he even barely knew claimed to have harassed by him. Maximus squeezed his fists as he remembered the board meeting, the way his coworkers stared at him like he was some outcast, a criminal. None of them spoke the truth for or of him. Not one single person, even after many years of working with these people. The sentence: I didn’t do it!. Was his most spoken throughout that time period, but no one believed him. All fingers pointed at him. But it didn’t matter what he had to say. The decision had already been made because by the end of the week, he was fired and his reputation went up in his flames with his job. It didn’t even take long for the news to spread like wild fire. First through the company employees ears, then through the ears of his friends and even through his family. His mother tried to believe him, she really tried to as the woman that carried him for 9 months. But the evidence pointed gravely towards her son, especially with the harassment allegations. Very soon, his girlfriend stopped answering his calls and stopped replying his text messages. All his close friends completely ghosted him. The company he was fired from addedd to the heat by flogging a half a millions dollars debt on him, that missing money had to be accounted for and he had to pay it back. He slumped deeper into his torn out cushion, staring at the television on the wall of his rundown apartment. The lightning of the room came from a single yellow bulb flickering above where he sat. His apartment gravely reflected his life now. It was a boxy living room, a dirty, small kitchen and a bathroom with broken tiles on it walls and floors. “Tch!” he hissed angrily as he watched the television screen dance with vibrant colours, not even paying attention to what was on. He just kept staring at it as their was nothing else to do. His phone buzzed gently in his pocket, diverting his attention away from the television. He returned his focus back to the television, not bothering to answer it as he already knew who it was. Maximus ran his hands across his face as the phone kept buzing relentlessly. A few seconds later, it chimed and conneted to the voicemail system he set up for times like this. “You have reached the phone of Maximus Prime, leave a message after the beep…” Beep! “Maximus! You have got until the end of the week to pack your shit and get out of my apartment, and no more extensions this time!” Beep! The landlord. He picked up the remote and switched off the television as if the images started to irritate him, and his reflection glared at him from the dark screen of the television across the room. “Just look at you…,” he muttered too himself. “Those bastards!”. He then dragged himself to his feet and walked to his rugged kitchen to get something to eat. He opened the fridge, it was completely empty. Then the cupboards, it wasn’t empty but filled with cobwebs. He was about opening his small pantry when a knock on the door scared him to the point his hairs puckered up. ‘Who's that? Did that landlord come up here for fucks sake!’ he thought to himself. He sprinted to the door and opened it cautiously to reveal a short, fat delivery man holding a small brown box. “Good evening Mr. Prime!” the short, fat man said shoving a white clipboard at his chest without hesitation. “Please sign here…” the short, fat man said nonchalantly. Maximus was utterly flabbergasted, he looked at the white clip board to see that there was no single return address for the package, just his name in block letter written boldly on the box. He signed the package out of instinct and the short, fat man stole it from his grasp and fled down the hallway, leaving the package in his hands. He sat back down and opened it, inside was a blank white note with nothing written on it. He found this extremely odd because why put an empty note in a package? “...Unless it's not empty…” he said to himself as he dug around in his pocket and pulled out a lighter, sparked it on and waved the open flame against the paper. In a few seconds, words became visible on the white piece of paper. “If you believe the allegations are false, here's a chance to rewrite your story. Use it wisely.” “Now this ought to be interesting…” Maximus said to himself. He reached inside the box and his fingers picked up a small nylon bag that contained a transparent pill inside. Maximus’s heart pace quickened as his reasoning came to a decision. ‘Take the pill…’ With a deep breathe, he opened the transparent nylon and popped the pill into his mouth and down his throat. “Huh!” he gasped softly as he felt it descend into his stomach. In a few seconds, he felt a strange surge originate from his stomach and travel all the way to his brain. “Woah!” His pupils constricted and his pulse quickened. ~Investment God System Activated~ A silver holographic interface popped up on his view taking him completely by surprise. “What the hell…?” Maximus muttered. Her blonde ponytail har framed her face as she sat quickly at a table, as her finger fiddled nervously with the hem of her sleeve. He wasn’t mistaken, it was her. Although she hadn't revealed her face.Across from her sat another girl, who seemed much more talkative, gesturing as she spoke.Maximus exhaled, his lips pressing into a neutral line not which action to take now. They had been texteing on and off, noting too deep, but enough that he knew she was the shy type. And just then, as if somehow sensing his gaze, she turned. The moment her blue eyes landed on him,her expression changed.A flicker of surpirse, then something softer- that signature shyness of hers. Her fingers immediately went to her lap, her shooulders hunching slightly. She didn’t lood away immediately, though. It was as if she was waiting for some kind of response.Maximus, ever composed and calm, simply gave a slight wave, nothing too dramatic, just a sign that he acknowledged her prescence.Lilys face turned sli

Maximus stepped onto the gravel path, the crushing sound of the gravel underneath his boots filled the air as he followed Zack toward the open stretch of land. The sun was high up in the air, casting a golden light over the horizon and a warm breeze drifted in from the distance. He could already smell the faint traces of salt in the air, meaning that the ocean wasn’t far from their current position. His gaze swept over the luxurious expanse before them. It was better than he had expected. The resort was in progress, standing proudly atop the land, already taking magnificent shape. From what he could see, most of the structure was complete, a grand main building that had a generous touch of modern elegance, tall windows reflecting the bright sky.Several smaller private villas dotted the landscape, their terraces facing what he assumed would be an artificial lagoon or private pool area. And just beyond: a pristine, untouched beach.Maximus let out a low whistle, he was utterly impresse

It was 10:43 PM.Joe Hart's building complex gleamed with ambition. Glass, steel, neon blue edge lights that screamed power.Maximus stepped off the bike and marched straight toward the entrance, three security guards in tailored suits intercepted him immediately.“Sir, no visitation are allowed at this time, unless you have and appointment.”“I don’t want one,” Maximus said coldly. “Joe hart owes me thirty million dollars. He's collecting rent off a property that is technically still mine, without paying me a dime.”One of the guards laughed. “Right. You'll need to take that up with his legal team, now step back.”From the balcony above, Joe Hart and Keith Hall leaned against the rails like smug kings on their thrones. They descended slowly, their suits pristine and their expressions dripping with mockery.“Maximus Prime,” Joe called, chuckling. “You really came all the way here for that chump change?”Keith grinned beside him. “Didn’t think you'd be so sentimental about pocket money

Maximus picked up his coffee absent mindedly before continuing to speak, “I’ll look through the numbers, and then we’ll talk ownership stakes. If it makes sense, we will move forward. If not, I might just start a resort of my own.”Zack whistled softly. “Damn, you really don’t play around do you?”Maximus dropped the cup of coffee back on the table. “Not when it comes to money, and time is money…”Zack chuckled, shaking his head. “Alright, I'll send you everything tonight. We'll talk again after you've gone through it.”Maximus nodded, standing up. “Sounds good Zaccheus…”They shook hands, sealing the deal. As Maximus walked out of the club and toward his bike, he knew the Investment God System would have a thing or two to say about the deal he just agreed to. He didn’t check it yet as he already knew what it was going to be about: Consequence of his decision. But Maximus wasn’t worried, he had a plan.“I always do…” he mused as he reached into his pocket, pulling leather gloves from

“A resort?” Maximus asked with a slight tilt of his head. Intrigue building up inside of him.“Yeah,” Zack said, his eyes lighting up upon seeing Maximus visibly interested. “Imagine it, a luxrury destination with everything you could think of. Top tier accomodadtions, dining, pools, spas, night life, you name it. A place where people can come to relax and let loose and have anunforgettable experience like non other… memories, families, couples, bonds! Think about it!”“Sounds… ambitious,” Maximus said, though he couldn’t dent the appeal of the idea.“Of course! It is very much ambitious,” Zack admitted. “but I've got the vision. And I have been researching locations, sketching out concepts, even talking to a few architects about where would be a suitable place in all of Central City. All I need right now is someone who can make this a reality.”Maximus released a slight frown, his fingers drumming against the bar. “And you think I am a suitable fit to make that a reality?”“Why not?”
Chapter 17
The next morning, Maximus woke up to the soft glow of sunlight streaming through the floor to ceiling windows of his bedroom. After a quick shower, he dressed casually in a crips black shirt and jeans. It was a simple look, but the quality of the clothes were more than the common man could afford.Grabbing his keys and sleek, futuristic helmet, he headed out to his power bike packed in the garage. The engine roared to life as he mounted it, the vibrations beneath him a satisfying reminder of the power it held.Maximus pulled up to the clubs entrance on his motorcycle, the engines deep rumble echoing in the queit midday atmosphere. The elegant valet personel stepped forward with a polite nod, his hands outstretched.Maximus handed over the keys and swung his leg off the bike, taking a moment to glance at the buildings sleek exterior.Even in the daylight, the club exuded the same aura as of the previous night but was dialed down several volumes. Stepping inside, a hostess greeted him
