A ripple of gasp filled the place. Fellow customers’ eyes widened in bewilderment right after the staff member said that.

“What did he just say? $50,000? Or didn't I hear him correctly?” One person among them mumbled, barely above a whisper.

“You didn't, dear.” Another replied. “It's ridiculous how one can spend just so much on shopping alone.”

“He's a young man for that matter. If not mistaken, not up to thirty years of age.”

Anthony just let out a soft chuckle within himself. Their words were just funny. Ignoring them, he reached out for his phone in his pocket, ready to make payment.

But as he opened his mouth to ask the staff member for the account details, someone made a comment which caused him to pause briefly.

“Just wished I would have this much money at least to get something nice for myself one day.”

The statement sent a shiver of emotion down to Anthony's spine. He couldn't help but turn around to look at the woman.

She wasn't looking that good at all. She was wearing ca

The next day, the morning broke inside Anthony's room, and he lazily woke up, pulled out the duvet, and then sat up straighter. Rubbing his face with his hand, he reached out for his phone and sat on the nightstand. As he unlocked it, his mind drifted to something. “Yes, I need to put a call straight away to him. I have promised her several times, but have always forgotten about it.” With that, he located Georgina’s inbox and glanced down at the message that she had sent to him bearing her mechanic’s name.Without hesitation, he dialed it, putting the phone close to his ear while shifting slightly on the bed. The call rang twice before a voice, soft and friendly, came through from the other end. “Hello, good morning. Who is this, please?” The muscular voice asked.“Good morning,” Anthony replied, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m Anthony, Georgina's friend. Do you know her?” “Yes. What happened to her?” Anthony cleared his throat and then responded. “Alright. I'm her frien

Meanwhile, upstairs, Sarah entered her room, closed the door, and leaned against it, a tear threatening to drip from her eyes but she fought it back. She buried her face with her hands and let out a deep, shaky breath. She walked groggily toward her bed, threw her handbag onto the bed, and sank onto it. Faintly, she reached out for her phone, her fingers gripping it as she stared at the screen. Her eyes winked slightly, and the thought of calling Anthony to apologize further came running through her mind. She hesitated, her finger hovering the face of her screen. “There's no point,” she muttered, her voice lacing with frustration. “He won't pick. He's so disappointed in me right now.” Hitting her forehead, she groaned at herself. “He has every right to be mad at me! I should have told him the truth rather than lying to him. Now, see what I have caused.” Her chest tightened with guilt.Just as she was lost in thoughts, the doorknob to her door suddenly twisted, and her door gently

Anthony couldn't respond. He only gave a small nod, his face pale.Georgina continued, her tone carrying a hint of disgust. “Is that how she is? Telling lies? I mean, does she have to lie to you? Why didn't she just tell the truth, that she was going out to dine with her boyfriend? You wouldn't have stopped her.”Her intention in saying that was to fuel Anthony's aggression toward Sarah. He wanted him to be more hostile and furious at her so that he would only have time for her—Georgina—and not Sarah.Pausing briefly, she continued, “She was only trying to act like she had wanted to let you know just because she was caught red-handed, or else she wouldn't have even mentioned it to you.”She didn't stop. She went on uttering words that were disgusting about Sarah, condemning her single act with only one intention—to flare Anthony's anger toward Sarah.Anthony was numb, listening to every one of her words.“She isn't trustworthy. People like her are like snakes in green grass. They can

Her face grew pale. “I shouldn't have lied to him,” she cried. “I should have just told him the truth. Now, what was the essence of lying when he had caught me?” Her eyes rolled around the place, a tear clearly seen in her eyes. After a while of almost sitting on the ground, Sarah stood up, her composure straight. She wiped the tear that was almost dropping from her eyes and with that, she turned around, walking back inside. Meanwhile, inside the restaurant, Benjamin had already sat back on his seat, his elbow on the table, his hand supporting his chin.He was thinking about what had just transpired; however, his mind wasn't on anything else except Georgina. She had slapped him right in front of Anthony. She defended him and even warned him not to talk to Anthony the way he had done.“Wasn't this the same Georgina who offered to assist me? What then is she doing with that bastard?” He wondered loudly in his heart. Strange. A hum escaped his lips.He shifted slightly on his seat befo

Sarah also froze at the sight of Anthony. How? How could he be here? She whispered, completely astonished. Her eyes widened. She opened her mouth, but a coherent response couldn't come out. “An…. Anthony, you?” She stammered.Anthony’s eyes flicked from Sarah to Benjamin and he stared at him for a moment longer. Then, they flipped back to Sarah, his eyes filled with quiet intensity. He walked closer. “Sarah,” he called out, still as if he was dreaming. “What are you doing here? With him?” He gestured toward Benjamin. “Didn't you say you were at home taking a rest?” Sarah stood there, iced at a spot. Her mouth went dry of words, a heavy weight of guilt descending on her. “It—it's not what you think, Anthony. There's —”Anthony cut her off, his voice cold. “What else do you want to say? Lie to me again?” He said, completely annoyed. “I called to check on you to know how you were doing and you told me you were resting at home,” he paused, then added. “So, this is the house, right?” “

Georgina's eyes darted toward Anthony, “Him? No, no….” She quickly shook her head, trying to deny, but then completed it, “Yes, I mean, he had given me a lift before.” She lied. Reluctantly, she asked Anthony, “You? You seem to know him. Have you guys met before?” Anthony nodded. “Yes.”Benjamin cut in, but didn't reveal the truth. Instead, he put up a face, trying to act surprised. “Georgina,” he called out, “What are you doing with him? I…is he your boyfriend?” Georgina had told him that Anthony wasn't Sarah's boyfriend, yet she was with him. Something seems odd, rightly not in place. Georgina frowned, but masked it with a faint smile. “No, Anthony is my friend.”Benjamin scorned, disgust plastered on his face. “A friend? To you?” An amused laugh escaped his lips. “You mean there's no well-to-do looking guy out there that you can make friends with except this….”He looked from Anthony's head down to his toes. “This pathetic loser?” Georgina's face became a shade of red, her fur
