A strange silence suddenly fell over the room. Everyone in the ballroom turned their eyes to the entrance.

A man stood there, built and solid, dressed in a navy slim-fit T-shirt. His sharp gaze was locked on the stage.

"Hey, isn't that Leonidas Vale?" someone blurted out.

The ballroom instantly erupted. One by one, the guests whispered in alarm, recognizing the man as Leon—the criminal who went viral six years ago for a rape case and was thrown behind bars.

"Why the hell is he here?"

"Wasn't he supposed to be in prison?"

"His sentence is over already?"

"No way. He was supposed to get over a decade."

Those were just a few of the murmurs in the crowd.

Leon ignored them. With his eyes glued to Evelyn and Jonathan, he stepped forward.

The pressure rolling off his body made the crowd instinctively part, clearing a path for him without a word.

“This is… how is this even possible…?”

Jonathan stared in disbelief. At first, he doubted the whispers around him—Leon was never this built before. But that voice… there was no mistaking it. This guy was Leon.

“Let me go!”

Evelyn used Jonathan’s distraction to shove him away, and this time she broke free.

Jonathan shot her a look of irritation, but quickly turned his focus back to Leon. He didn’t know why, but something about Leon felt dangerous.

“End this ridiculous proposal! How dare you try to marry a woman who’s already married,” Leon said loud and clear.

Jonathan instinctively stepped back. Five years ago, when the cops dragged Leon away, he was a weak wreck. But now? He looked like a beast. What the hell happened to him?

“Stop right there, you bastard!”

Gregory stepped in to block Leon’s path. Verona, Roger, and Margot joined him, their eyes filled with hate.

“Out of my way,” Leon said coldly.

No yelling, just raw pressure packed into every syllable.

“You son of a bitch! How dare you show your face and ruin this important event! You broke out of prison, didn’t you?!” Margot yelled, hands on her hips.

“This is ridiculous! Where the hell are the police? How did this piece of filth get in here?! And what about hotel security? What are they even paid for?!” Verona ranted.

“Something’s definitely wrong. We need to call the cops,” Roger added.

Leon scanned each of their faces, one by one. Ignoring Gregory’s order, he kept moving forward. The sea of guests still parting for him without resistance.

“You piece of shit! You’re seriously trying to provoke us?!”

Gregory’s eyes bulged. He slipped a hand into his pants pocket.

“Fine! I’m calling the police!”

He brought his phone to his ear, but Leon didn’t flinch. He didn’t care.

The days of bowing to the Harringtons were over. He wouldn’t take their crap anymore.

“This scumbag has lost his damn mind,” Margot muttered, starting to worry.

Verona was furious. She sneered, clenched her fists, and stepped forward. As Leon got closer, she raised her right hand.

“Trash like you doesn’t belong here!” she screamed and tried to slap him.

Whap!

To everyone’s shock, Leon caught her hand mid-air and gripped it tight.

“Ow! My hand! Let go! Hey!”

He flung her hand aside like it was nothing, sending her stumbling to the floor. Margot and the others froze, stunned.

“I do have business with you all,” Leon said coldly. “But not now.”

Dimitri’s report about his family echoed in his mind. His cold stare now burned with fury.

“Step aside, or face the consequences.”

Did they step aside? No.

Margot rushed to help Verona up. Gregory growled and rolled up his sleeves, stepping forward.

“You really are garbage, Leon. You only pick on women. All those years in prison and you’re still the same scumbag,” he spat, planting himself in Verona’s spot, his eyes practically glowing with hate.

Leon tilted his chin up slightly. Gregory was taller, bulkier, with massive fists. But Leon didn’t blink. This bastard was the one who made the false report that got him locked up. Leon would never forgive him.

“You know,” Gregory sneered, “I just called the cops. I told them that a convicted rapist is here crashing an important party. They’ll be swarming this place soon. I’ve got no problem beating the hell out of you while we wait—if you’ve got the guts.”

“You challenging me to a fight?” Leon narrowed his eyes.

Gregory smirked. He raised his massive fists and slowly clenched them right in front of Leon’s face.

“You won’t last a single min—”

Thud!

Gregory suddenly doubled over and collapsed as Leon brushed past him.

Gasps rippled through the ballroom. No one saw what just happened.

Leon kept walking, passing Verona, Margot, and Roger—none of whom dared stop him now. An eerie silence filled the room.

Seeing Gregory get dropped without even realizing how, Jonathan’s fear exploded. He took another instinctive step back, face turning pale.

Leon locked eyes with him. Jonathan broke into a cold sweat. He could call in the goons his father stationed outside, but would they make it in time? Leon might beat him to a pulp before they even showed up.

Panicked, Jonathan glanced at Evelyn. Her eyes were frozen on Leon.

An idea hit him.

He jumped behind Evelyn and clamped his right hand around the front of her neck. His other arm yanked her body tight against his.

“Don’t move or she will get hurt!” he shouted, eyes wild as he stared down Leon.

Leon stared back, fists clenched, snorting in disgust.

Gasps erupted across the room. No one expected a proposal to turn into a hostage situation.

“L-Leon…” Evelyn choked out.

Leon’s expression shifted instantly. That cold rage softened into something else—grief, pain.

“Don’t worry, Eve. I’ve got this,” he said gently, before turning back to Jonathan.

Jonathan kept his grip tight. Evelyn was already struggling to breathe.

“I said don’t move! I swear I’ll hurt her!” Jonathan screamed.

Leon squinted, then slowly shook his head.

“You really are an idiot, Jonathan.”

“Shut up, you motherfucker! I’m gonna—”

Whoosh!

CRACK!

“AAAAAARGHHHHHH!”

Suddenly, Leon was behind Jonathan, holding his right hand which was now hanging broken.

  • Wait! Don’t Hurt Him!

Cornwell raised an eyebrow, smiling challengingly."You asked me the number. Well, that’s the number. If you want to take her that badly, you’ve got to transfer that amount to my bank account. I wrote it down there," he said.Of course, that amount was excessive. Even if you totaled the contract breach penalty and damages, it wouldn’t reach $200,000.Cornwell deliberately wrote one billion dollars on that little paper just to mess with Leon. Sure, Leon might be able to pay the club membership fees and even tip the two security guards earlier, but to transfer one billion dollars—in just five minutes? Practically impossible."If I transfer one billion dollars to your bank account right now, you’ll act like she never worked here?" Leon asked.Cornwell glanced at Rose, smirking. "Yeah. I’ll act like she never worked here. In fact, I’ll pretend I never even saw her in this strip club."Cornwell raised his eyebrow again. He had deliberately written his personal bank account on the paper, no

  • I Don't Need Your Help!

"Why are you here? What are you doing here?"Rose was truly shocked. She never thought Leon would come after her there."I’m here to pick you up. Let’s go home. You don’t need to keep sacrificing your dignity in a cursed place like this," said Leon.Unsurprisingly, his offensive words triggered a reaction from the people around, especially the men sitting at the tables near the stage. They stood up. One of them, a long-haired blond man, pointed at Leon, squinting his eyes."I’ve never seen you here before. Is this your first time stepping into a place like this, country boy?" the man asked sarcastically. His friends laughed, throwing Leon looks of disdain. Rose started to panic. She imagined an ugly fight would break out soon."I have no business with you, blondie. Stay out of this if you still want to enjoy your time in this cursed place," said Leon.It was clearly a warning. But instead of backing down, the blond man chuckled and sneered. He grabbed a glass of liquor from his table

  • This Is Not Your Place

That afternoon, after a quick stop at the mall, Leon and Evelyn pulled into the driveway. As they stepped out of the car, they saw Rose standing on the porch, getting ready to leave.“You heading out this early?” Leon asked.Rose shot him a cold look. “I’m covering for a co-worker again. Besides, I need the extra cash,” she snapped.Leon gave Evelyn a slight nod—his way of saying, go on inside. She took some of her art supplies and walked past Rose on the porch. Neither of them exchanged a word. Rose didn’t even acknowledge Evelyn—acted like she wasn’t there.“Watch over Mom. I’ll be back later,” Rose said, stepping off the porch. As she tried to walk past him, Leon gently grabbed her arm. Their eyes locked.“I found you a better job,” Leon said calmly. “Quit the strip club.”Rose yanked her arm free. “Don’t tell me what to do. You’ve been gone five damn years. You’ve got no right to say anything about how I live my life.”The hatred in her eyes was sharp, unmistakable. And Leon got i

  • You'll Regret This!

“You bastard! How dare you set foot in this house!”Roger shot to his feet, jabbing a finger at Leon with fire in his eyes.Leon stared back at his father-in-law coldly.“Relax. We won’t be long. Evelyn just came to grab her clothes and painting stuff,” he said. Now, every pair of eyes at the dining table turned to Evelyn. She lowered her head, trying to hide behind Leon’s broad back.“You really ignored your mother’s warning from yesterday, Evelyn?!” Roger barked.Still, Evelyn kept her head down. She hated being cornered—and that’s exactly how she felt, with everyone at that table looking at her like she was on trial.“You’re as stubborn as ever! You think we won’t erase your name from the Harrington family tree?” Margot snapped.“I just don’t get your thinking, Eve,” Gregory added. “Six years ago you dumped Jonathan to marry this useless bum. Now you're making the same mistake. Didn’t you learn anything from the rape scandal five years ago?”“Shameful! Utterly shameful!” Verona cri

  • I'll Be Watching You

Around 1 PM, Leon arrived at his mother’s house...The moment he stepped out of the car, he climbed the porch stairs. The front door opened, and Evelyn appeared, looking worried.“Leon, I need to go home,” she said.“Go home?” Leon looked at her, puzzled. Did something happen?“Yes. I need to change. It feels weird still wearing this dress.”Leon glanced at her from head to toe. She looked stunning in that rose-gold gown, but she had a point—she should’ve changed by now.But hadn’t she already changed last night? Leon was sure of it. He had offered her one of Rose’s t-shirts and shorts. Evelyn had slept in the spare room—his old room—wearing them.So why was she back in her gown?“If it’s about clothes, you can just wear Rose’s. You two seem about the same size,” Leon offered.Evelyn shook her head, eyes filled with sorrow.“I can’t. Those are your sister’s. Not mine.”Leon grew more confused. But after a moment, he understood.“Rose doesn’t want you wearing her stuff?” he asked.Slow

  • Pack Your Things and Get Out!

In the lobby of Astral Nyx Group’s headquarters...The same two receptionists were still on duty. The female receptionist handled her tasks calmly, while the male—Eddie—was visibly nervous and jittery. He kept tapping his fingers on the reception desk nonstop, creating an annoying, rhythmic sound.“Hey, what’s your deal, Eddie?” the female receptionist—Kate—snapped at him.Eddie stopped tapping, glancing back at her. Two creases formed between his eyebrows.“You think... I’ll be okay, Kate?” he asked.“What are you talking about?”“Oh, come on, Kate. Don’t pretend you don’t know. That guy from earlier—I insulted him. I even tried to kick him out. And turns out, he’s good friends with Mr. Arkwell. How am I supposed to stay calm after that?”“Oh, I see...,” Kate muttered. She clearly wasn’t too concerned about it, which only made Eddie more agitated. As Kate turned her attention back to her monitor, Eddie resumed tapping his fingers.“You know, Kate... he gave me a look, like a real loo
