On the outskirts of Greystone Hollow, far from the city’s noise…
In a rundown one-story house, two women—twenty-three years apart in age—were sitting and chatting. The younger one, wearing a brown velvet coat, picked up a cup of coffee from the round table between them and took a sip.
“You’re really leaving now, Rose? It’s not even late yet,” the older woman said, her eyes fixed on the road.
“I don’t have a choice, Mom. One of my coworkers called in sick last minute, and they asked me to cover for her,” Rose replied, setting her cup down. “It’ll count as overtime. Good money. We could use it.”
Mary, the woman Rose called 'Mom', immediately looked sad. Still staring at the road, she said, “I’m so sorry, Rose. If I weren’t blind, you wouldn’t have to work this hard.”
“Don’t say that, Mom.” Rose looked her in the eye, firm. “None of this is your fault. It’s the Harringtons'. They’re the ones who ruined our lives.”
“But if I hadn’t gone blind—”
“Mom, please stop blaming yourself. Please.”
The fire in Rose’s eyes made it clear: she wasn’t just angry, she was hurting. Ever since that controversial rape case that sent Leon to prison five years ago, the Harringtons had tried every trick in the book to destroy them, to grind their already fragile lives into the dirt.
Rose—once a high school math teacher—had been fired and blacklisted after nude photos of her—all fakes, generated by AI—were posted on various adult platforms. Mary? She went blind temporarily after someone poisoned hetory she worked at.
Rose knew the Harringtons were behind it. She had received a package from them with a card that said, “Congratulations.”
“I’m heading out, Mom. Go back inside, okay? Don’t stay out too long. It’s not safe,” Rose said, standing up and adjusting her coat.
“All right. Be careful. Text me when you get to work.”
Rose stepped down from the porch. She hadn’t told Mary what her real job was. If her mother ever found out she worked at a strip club, she'd beg her to quit.
But quitting wasn’t an option. Not when they were barely scraping by.
She was just a few feet from the gate when a loud noise erupted from the right. Seconds later, a dozen motorcyclists appeared and screeched to a stop in front of the house. All of them wore sleeveless black vests with skull logos on the back.
Rose froze. Her eyes widened.
Gangsters!
They hopped off their bikes and started approaching the gate—some of them even vaulted over it.
“W-what do you want?!” Rose shouted, stepping back and clutching her coat.
“What do we want?” said the one with long, greasy hair, grinning. “Simple. We’re gonna tear this house apart until it’s unlivable.”
“W-what? Y-you can’t do that! I’m calling the police!”
“Go ahead. Call ’em. You think we’re scared?” the long-haired thug said, flashing a row of yellow, jagged teeth.
“S-stop! D-don’t come any closer!”
“Or what?”
The long-haired one pulled a hunting knife from his pocket and flashed it at her.
“You don’t get it, sweetheart. No one’s coming to help. Not you. Not your blind mother. You’re both going down with this dump.”
Rose’s heart sank.
Was that… a death threat?
What the hell was she supposed to do now?
“Rose, what’s going on? Who’s out there?” Mary called out as she stood up. Using her cane, she started slowly walking toward the front.
“Get inside, Mom!”
“What?”
“I said GET INSIDE! NOW!”
While Rose was distracted by her mother, the long-haired thug jumped and landed right in front of her. Then his hand shot to her throat.
“Gghk!”
“I hear you work at a strip club now,” the thug said, gripping her neck. “Bet you’ve got a smoking hot body under this coat. Be a damn shame if we didn’t get a taste before we kill you.”
Rose’s face turned pale. She was going to be raped? Was this really happening?
“P-please… don’t…”
Tears rolled down her cheeks. She could hear her mother calling out for her, panic in her voice.
The thug, meanwhile, licked his lips and pressed the tip of the knife to her throat, then slowly trailed it downward toward her chest.
“Let’s see what you’re hiding under this fancy velvet coat,” he sneered, yanking it open.
Her deep cleavage was now exposed.
“Damn! Big tits on this one. You flaunt these babies for those sleazy club-goers?”
Rose didn’t answer. Eyes shut tight, she kept crying. She was so terrified, she couldn’t even lift her arms.
“Then you won’t mind if I enjoy ’em too, huh? I bet plenty of those creeps would’ve paid extra for a shot at the real thing.”
She clenched her eyes shut harder. Her mother’s voice rang out again, louder now, in full panic.
“Shit!” the thug snapped. “You two, take care of the blind bitch! Shut her up! I don’t want to hear another damn word from her!”
Three of the gangsters rushed toward the porch. Rose could hear them shouting at her mother, which only made her sob harder.
The long-haired thug went back to her bra strap, tracing his knife across it.
“You won’t be needing this,” he growled, slicing it off.
Rose wanted to bite off her own tongue, especially when she felt the thug's filthy hand on her left boob.
Someone, please... anyone… help me! Help us! Please! she screamed in her mind.
Frustration and despair consumed her. After five long years of fighting to survive, was this really how it would end? She couldn't accept this but couldn't do anything to change it!
And then, just as the thug’s hand slipped inside her bra and gripped her other boob, the screech of tires split the air.
A second later, a voice thundered:
“I’LL KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU!!!”

Wait! Don’t Hurt Him!
Cornwell raised an eyebrow, smiling challengingly."You asked me the number. Well, that’s the number. If you want to take her that badly, you’ve got to transfer that amount to my bank account. I wrote it down there," he said.Of course, that amount was excessive. Even if you totaled the contract breach penalty and damages, it wouldn’t reach $200,000.Cornwell deliberately wrote one billion dollars on that little paper just to mess with Leon. Sure, Leon might be able to pay the club membership fees and even tip the two security guards earlier, but to transfer one billion dollars—in just five minutes? Practically impossible."If I transfer one billion dollars to your bank account right now, you’ll act like she never worked here?" Leon asked.Cornwell glanced at Rose, smirking. "Yeah. I’ll act like she never worked here. In fact, I’ll pretend I never even saw her in this strip club."Cornwell raised his eyebrow again. He had deliberately written his personal bank account on the paper, no
I Don't Need Your Help!
"Why are you here? What are you doing here?"Rose was truly shocked. She never thought Leon would come after her there."I’m here to pick you up. Let’s go home. You don’t need to keep sacrificing your dignity in a cursed place like this," said Leon.Unsurprisingly, his offensive words triggered a reaction from the people around, especially the men sitting at the tables near the stage. They stood up. One of them, a long-haired blond man, pointed at Leon, squinting his eyes."I’ve never seen you here before. Is this your first time stepping into a place like this, country boy?" the man asked sarcastically. His friends laughed, throwing Leon looks of disdain. Rose started to panic. She imagined an ugly fight would break out soon."I have no business with you, blondie. Stay out of this if you still want to enjoy your time in this cursed place," said Leon.It was clearly a warning. But instead of backing down, the blond man chuckled and sneered. He grabbed a glass of liquor from his table
This Is Not Your Place
That afternoon, after a quick stop at the mall, Leon and Evelyn pulled into the driveway. As they stepped out of the car, they saw Rose standing on the porch, getting ready to leave.“You heading out this early?” Leon asked.Rose shot him a cold look. “I’m covering for a co-worker again. Besides, I need the extra cash,” she snapped.Leon gave Evelyn a slight nod—his way of saying, go on inside. She took some of her art supplies and walked past Rose on the porch. Neither of them exchanged a word. Rose didn’t even acknowledge Evelyn—acted like she wasn’t there.“Watch over Mom. I’ll be back later,” Rose said, stepping off the porch. As she tried to walk past him, Leon gently grabbed her arm. Their eyes locked.“I found you a better job,” Leon said calmly. “Quit the strip club.”Rose yanked her arm free. “Don’t tell me what to do. You’ve been gone five damn years. You’ve got no right to say anything about how I live my life.”The hatred in her eyes was sharp, unmistakable. And Leon got i
You'll Regret This!
“You bastard! How dare you set foot in this house!”Roger shot to his feet, jabbing a finger at Leon with fire in his eyes.Leon stared back at his father-in-law coldly.“Relax. We won’t be long. Evelyn just came to grab her clothes and painting stuff,” he said. Now, every pair of eyes at the dining table turned to Evelyn. She lowered her head, trying to hide behind Leon’s broad back.“You really ignored your mother’s warning from yesterday, Evelyn?!” Roger barked.Still, Evelyn kept her head down. She hated being cornered—and that’s exactly how she felt, with everyone at that table looking at her like she was on trial.“You’re as stubborn as ever! You think we won’t erase your name from the Harrington family tree?” Margot snapped.“I just don’t get your thinking, Eve,” Gregory added. “Six years ago you dumped Jonathan to marry this useless bum. Now you're making the same mistake. Didn’t you learn anything from the rape scandal five years ago?”“Shameful! Utterly shameful!” Verona cri
I'll Be Watching You
Around 1 PM, Leon arrived at his mother’s house...The moment he stepped out of the car, he climbed the porch stairs. The front door opened, and Evelyn appeared, looking worried.“Leon, I need to go home,” she said.“Go home?” Leon looked at her, puzzled. Did something happen?“Yes. I need to change. It feels weird still wearing this dress.”Leon glanced at her from head to toe. She looked stunning in that rose-gold gown, but she had a point—she should’ve changed by now.But hadn’t she already changed last night? Leon was sure of it. He had offered her one of Rose’s t-shirts and shorts. Evelyn had slept in the spare room—his old room—wearing them.So why was she back in her gown?“If it’s about clothes, you can just wear Rose’s. You two seem about the same size,” Leon offered.Evelyn shook her head, eyes filled with sorrow.“I can’t. Those are your sister’s. Not mine.”Leon grew more confused. But after a moment, he understood.“Rose doesn’t want you wearing her stuff?” he asked.Slow
Pack Your Things and Get Out!
In the lobby of Astral Nyx Group’s headquarters...The same two receptionists were still on duty. The female receptionist handled her tasks calmly, while the male—Eddie—was visibly nervous and jittery. He kept tapping his fingers on the reception desk nonstop, creating an annoying, rhythmic sound.“Hey, what’s your deal, Eddie?” the female receptionist—Kate—snapped at him.Eddie stopped tapping, glancing back at her. Two creases formed between his eyebrows.“You think... I’ll be okay, Kate?” he asked.“What are you talking about?”“Oh, come on, Kate. Don’t pretend you don’t know. That guy from earlier—I insulted him. I even tried to kick him out. And turns out, he’s good friends with Mr. Arkwell. How am I supposed to stay calm after that?”“Oh, I see...,” Kate muttered. She clearly wasn’t too concerned about it, which only made Eddie more agitated. As Kate turned her attention back to her monitor, Eddie resumed tapping his fingers.“You know, Kate... he gave me a look, like a real loo
