That wasn’t just a scream.
Anyone who heard it would feel the raw, murderous intent behind it. Even the gangsters froze in place, especially the long-haired one choking Rose while groping her boob.
One second later, just as the long-haired thug began to turn around, someone vaulted over the fence and landed right behind him, then slammed a fist into his head.
Thwack!
The thug collapsed sideways. Blood poured from his temple, flooding one eye until he had to shut it.
Before he could even react, a brutal kick smashed into his chin, snapping his head back and sending him crashing to the ground.
“Ugh…”
He groaned in agony, clutching his head. Now both eyes were shut.
And it still wasn’t over.
Just as he blinked through the pain, something slammed into his gut.
"Ugh!!"
His body curled like a crescent moon. Blood burst from his mouth. His eyes shot open in shock.
That was the end of him. The long-haired gangster lay there, mouth and eyes wide open. Blood still dripping from his right temple.
"Go rot in hell," said the man who took him down. It was Leon.
"Leon? Is that you?"
Leon turned around. Rose was staring at him in disbelief, clutching her brown coat tightly around herself.
"Hey, Rose. Are you okay?"
He knew what just happened had shaken his sister badly. He wanted to go comfort her, but then his eyes locked onto the front porch.
Two thugs were holding his mother. One of them had a rag soaked with some kind of chemical and was pressing it over her face.
All three of them—including the rest of the gang—stood frozen, staring at Leon in stunned silence. What he’d just done to their boss rattled them to their core.
"You sons of bitches!" Leon snarled, storming toward the porch, his eyes blazing.
That snapped the gangsters out of their daze. The ones nearest Leon charged at him, screaming, swinging knives and blunt weapons toward him.
Thud! Crack! Slam! Bam!
Easily, Leon dropped all of them with single, precise blows. They hit the ground hard, unmoving.
Only five remained. Three on the porch. Two more nearby. The latter pissed themselves on the spot.
Leon clenched his fists and marched toward the porch. The two who’d lost control of their bladders shrieked and bolted, leaping over the fence and speeding off on their motorbikes.
Leon didn’t care about them. His eyes locked on the three gangster that were still trembling on the porch.
He crouched, coiled like a spring, then leapt.
Boom!
Landing like a thunderbolt, he unleashed hell on the three gangsters, sending them flying like rag dolls off the porch and into the dirt.
Whoop!
Leon dropped to his knees, catching his mother before she hit the ground. His mother was unconscious. A strong chemical stench came from her mouth.
Carefully, he laid her down on the porch and checked her vitals. Once he was sure she was okay, he turned his eyes to the three gangsters groaning nearby.
He stood, exhaling like a dragon, then jumped off the porch.
Thud!
The injured gangsters scrambled back in terror. Their eyes were wide with fear.
"P-please... have mercy... don't kill us..." one of them whimpered.
Leon stopped just eight inches away from the one who spoke.
"Who the hell are you? Are you part of some big mafia group in this city? Who sent you here?" Leon demanded, his tone razor sharp.
The gangster coughed, spitting blood. The pain in his chest was overwhelming, but he managed to respond.
"We're... we're just a local gangsters... from this neighborhood... Someone named Greg... Gregory or something... He called our boss... That guy..." He pointed weakly toward the corpse of the long-haired man.
Leon kept his eyes on him. Everything was just like Dimitri reported.
"P-please... Let us go..."
Crack!
Leon smashed his fist into the thug’s jaw, sending him tumbling across the yard.
"Let you go? You think this is some kind of joke? I told you—I’m gonna kill you all!" Leon roared.
He then turned to the last two. They were already halfway dead—barely able to sit up, let alone fight. They didn’t even stand a chance against a regular man, let alone Leon.
But for Leon at this moment, mercy wasn’t on the menu.
Thud! Crack!
He put them down. Fucking hard. Now they wouldn’t be able to breath again.
Except for the two who pissed themselves and ran, Leon had taken out the entire gangster.
Corpses now littered the front yard.
It was a hellish sight. He'd have to clean it up later.
"Is everything okay, Leon?" Evelyn's voice rang out. She’d just stepped out of the car and now pushed the gate open, entering the bloodstained yard.
She exchanged a short glance with Rose, then rushed to Leon’s side. She gently grabbed Leon's arm, making him a little bit relaxed in an instant.
"I'm fine. Sorry I left you in the car. I... I couldn’t think straight..."
"It’s okay. I understand."
Leon could see the worry in Evelyn’s eyes. Somehow, that made him feel a little better. A faint smile formed on his lips.
But peace didn’t last.
Rose stomped toward them, face full of fury. Her eyes locked on Leon like daggers.
Leon turned to face her. He stepped forward, ready to say something to calm her down. But then...
Whoosh!
A high-heeled shoe flew at his face.
Leon dodged by instinct. Rose yanked off her other heel, this time using it like a hammer, aiming right for Leon's face again.
Leon reached out to grab her wrist—like he did to his mother-in-law at the hotel's ballroom—but was stunned when Evelyn suddenly stepped between them.
Smack!
"Ah!"
The heel struck Evelyn’s hand, slicing it open. Blood dripped from there.
Leon's eyes widened. He stared at Rose with a red face.
"What the hell are you doing?! You just hurted my wife!" he protested.
You might think that at this point, Rose would look guilty. But no. She glared at Leon with even more rage burning in her eyes.
“Get out of here! Now!” she shouted.

Wait! Don’t Hurt Him!
Cornwell raised an eyebrow, smiling challengingly."You asked me the number. Well, that’s the number. If you want to take her that badly, you’ve got to transfer that amount to my bank account. I wrote it down there," he said.Of course, that amount was excessive. Even if you totaled the contract breach penalty and damages, it wouldn’t reach $200,000.Cornwell deliberately wrote one billion dollars on that little paper just to mess with Leon. Sure, Leon might be able to pay the club membership fees and even tip the two security guards earlier, but to transfer one billion dollars—in just five minutes? Practically impossible."If I transfer one billion dollars to your bank account right now, you’ll act like she never worked here?" Leon asked.Cornwell glanced at Rose, smirking. "Yeah. I’ll act like she never worked here. In fact, I’ll pretend I never even saw her in this strip club."Cornwell raised his eyebrow again. He had deliberately written his personal bank account on the paper, no

"Why are you here? What are you doing here?"Rose was truly shocked. She never thought Leon would come after her there."I’m here to pick you up. Let’s go home. You don’t need to keep sacrificing your dignity in a cursed place like this," said Leon.Unsurprisingly, his offensive words triggered a reaction from the people around, especially the men sitting at the tables near the stage. They stood up. One of them, a long-haired blond man, pointed at Leon, squinting his eyes."I’ve never seen you here before. Is this your first time stepping into a place like this, country boy?" the man asked sarcastically. His friends laughed, throwing Leon looks of disdain. Rose started to panic. She imagined an ugly fight would break out soon."I have no business with you, blondie. Stay out of this if you still want to enjoy your time in this cursed place," said Leon.It was clearly a warning. But instead of backing down, the blond man chuckled and sneered. He grabbed a glass of liquor from his table
This Is Not Your Place
That afternoon, after a quick stop at the mall, Leon and Evelyn pulled into the driveway. As they stepped out of the car, they saw Rose standing on the porch, getting ready to leave.“You heading out this early?” Leon asked.Rose shot him a cold look. “I’m covering for a co-worker again. Besides, I need the extra cash,” she snapped.Leon gave Evelyn a slight nod—his way of saying, go on inside. She took some of her art supplies and walked past Rose on the porch. Neither of them exchanged a word. Rose didn’t even acknowledge Evelyn—acted like she wasn’t there.“Watch over Mom. I’ll be back later,” Rose said, stepping off the porch. As she tried to walk past him, Leon gently grabbed her arm. Their eyes locked.“I found you a better job,” Leon said calmly. “Quit the strip club.”Rose yanked her arm free. “Don’t tell me what to do. You’ve been gone five damn years. You’ve got no right to say anything about how I live my life.”The hatred in her eyes was sharp, unmistakable. And Leon got i
You'll Regret This!
“You bastard! How dare you set foot in this house!”Roger shot to his feet, jabbing a finger at Leon with fire in his eyes.Leon stared back at his father-in-law coldly.“Relax. We won’t be long. Evelyn just came to grab her clothes and painting stuff,” he said. Now, every pair of eyes at the dining table turned to Evelyn. She lowered her head, trying to hide behind Leon’s broad back.“You really ignored your mother’s warning from yesterday, Evelyn?!” Roger barked.Still, Evelyn kept her head down. She hated being cornered—and that’s exactly how she felt, with everyone at that table looking at her like she was on trial.“You’re as stubborn as ever! You think we won’t erase your name from the Harrington family tree?” Margot snapped.“I just don’t get your thinking, Eve,” Gregory added. “Six years ago you dumped Jonathan to marry this useless bum. Now you're making the same mistake. Didn’t you learn anything from the rape scandal five years ago?”“Shameful! Utterly shameful!” Verona cri
I'll Be Watching You
Around 1 PM, Leon arrived at his mother’s house...The moment he stepped out of the car, he climbed the porch stairs. The front door opened, and Evelyn appeared, looking worried.“Leon, I need to go home,” she said.“Go home?” Leon looked at her, puzzled. Did something happen?“Yes. I need to change. It feels weird still wearing this dress.”Leon glanced at her from head to toe. She looked stunning in that rose-gold gown, but she had a point—she should’ve changed by now.But hadn’t she already changed last night? Leon was sure of it. He had offered her one of Rose’s t-shirts and shorts. Evelyn had slept in the spare room—his old room—wearing them.So why was she back in her gown?“If it’s about clothes, you can just wear Rose’s. You two seem about the same size,” Leon offered.Evelyn shook her head, eyes filled with sorrow.“I can’t. Those are your sister’s. Not mine.”Leon grew more confused. But after a moment, he understood.“Rose doesn’t want you wearing her stuff?” he asked.Slow

In the lobby of Astral Nyx Group’s headquarters...The same two receptionists were still on duty. The female receptionist handled her tasks calmly, while the male—Eddie—was visibly nervous and jittery. He kept tapping his fingers on the reception desk nonstop, creating an annoying, rhythmic sound.“Hey, what’s your deal, Eddie?” the female receptionist—Kate—snapped at him.Eddie stopped tapping, glancing back at her. Two creases formed between his eyebrows.“You think... I’ll be okay, Kate?” he asked.“What are you talking about?”“Oh, come on, Kate. Don’t pretend you don’t know. That guy from earlier—I insulted him. I even tried to kick him out. And turns out, he’s good friends with Mr. Arkwell. How am I supposed to stay calm after that?”“Oh, I see...,” Kate muttered. She clearly wasn’t too concerned about it, which only made Eddie more agitated. As Kate turned her attention back to her monitor, Eddie resumed tapping his fingers.“You know, Kate... he gave me a look, like a real loo
