Leon and his small family gathered in the dining room. Dishes were served; all of them looked appetizing. Leon smiled widely. It had been a very long time since he last tasted his mother’s cooking in such a warm moment.

“Happy birthday, my son, my beloved child. Forgive me for only being able to do something like this now,” Mary said.

Mary’s gaze at Leon was full of love. And Leon could see that his mother was trying her hardest to hold back her tears from falling.

“It’s okay, Mom. Thank you for doing this sweet and meaningful thing for me,” Leon said.

Because of his words, Mary’s tears fell. Leon widened his smile again. He wiped the tears from Mary’s left cheek.

“Thank goodness we can have dinner together tonight as planned. I was worried earlier that you wouldn’t come home today,” Evelyn said.

Leon looked at his wife, took her hand, and stroked the back of her hand.

“Forgive me, okay. I made you worry earlier,” Leon said.

Evelyn smiled and nodded. Leon pulled his hand back, signali

  • A Would-Be-The-Warmest Moment

Leon and the President stared at each other intensely. Suddenly, the door on the left opened, and the waitress from earlier walked in. This time, she wasn't pushing a cart or anything. Her steps were firm, and her eyes were locked on Leon.“Stop right there! Don’t get any closer!” the President commanded. The waitress’s steps halted.“Our lunch isn't over yet,” the President continued, turning to the waitress. “Get out.”The waitress glanced at Leon briefly, looking displeased, then nodded. As ordered, she turned around and left. After the waitress’s figure disappeared behind the door, the President asked, “Do you realize you just threatened a President?”Leon was silent for a moment, then nodded. “I know the person I am facing right now is the President, the number one man in this country, but that makes no difference. Anyone who threatens to do something bad to the people I care about will have to answer to me. And I… will not hold back.”They stared at each other again, in silence.

  • The Exchange of Warnings

Leon frowned, raising an eyebrow.“Mr. President, you’re not pulling my leg, are you?” Leon asked. “You suddenly asked me to do something like that. That’s... that’s not funny at all.”“I’m not joking, Leon,” the President countered. “I’m serious. I truly want you to be my shadow. I need someone like you to restore the health of this administration, like it used to be.”Leon stopped chewing. He swallowed the remaining food in his mouth and set down his fork and spoon. It seemed his assessment earlier was correct. Something was wrong with the man sitting across from him.“Mr. President, I don’t mean to be insolent or anything. I think you should reconsider what you just asked. You are asking me to… eliminate your political opponents. Do you want me to kill them? Is that it?”The President stared intently at Leon. He nodded calmly.Leon sighed. He directed his gaze toward two o'clock. He actually wanted to shake his head, but he restrained himself because that wasn't polite—this was one

  • Be My Shadow

Leon put his hands on his hips, thinking and thinking. Finally, he had an idea.He grabbed a chair, placed it against the wall where the small opening was located. He took one piece of food and wet it as before, then went back to the chair and climbed onto it.He tried to stand on his tiptoes and raise his hand high. It still wasn't enough. He shifted his footing to the chair's armrest, battling gravity to maintain his balance. This time he managed to bring the piece of food close enough to the opening. And, he focused his inner energy into the hand holding the piece of food. Then, after taking a deliberate aim, he threw the piece of food.Bruakk!!Zashhhhh!!!!!The piece of food smashed right into the small opening, destroying it. Sparks filled the air around the spot.Leon jumped, moving to the side. He waited until the sparks vanished. And, the result was as he hoped: the opening was no longer streaming white smoke.Leon smiled broadly. He returned to the table, quickly doing the s

  • The Green Shield

Leon had brought absolutely none of his gear. He even left his favorite knife at home, beneath a pile of clothes in the wardrobe. So, he immediately tore off his shirt and used it as an emergency mask. Leon didn't yet know the effect of the white gas, but he had to be vigilant. Now he had to figure out what he would do to prevent the white gas from reaching his eyes. From what Leon saw, the white gas was entering from above and below. This meant it was pointless to move to a higher spot.Leon scanned his surroundings, looking for windows or ventilation shafts, but he couldn't find any. This room was more like a confinement chamber than a meeting room.Leon looked up, staring at the camera on the ceiling. He didn't know what the President was thinking. Was this a test? Did he want to know if Leon could escape this situation? Or did he truly intend to eliminate him? While Leon was guessing, the white smoke grew denser; in several spots, it began to clump and thicken. In movie scenes, wi

  • Die For Me

“Who am I speaking with right now? Mr. President?” Leon asked.“Correct. You are speaking with the President.”“Why don’t you show yourself directly, sir? Are you afraid I’ll do something to harm you?”The President laughed. The camera moved slightly before aiming back at him.“I will reveal myself at the right moment. For now, let’s just talk like this. Sit down in one of the chairs at that table.”Leon looked at the table he had seen earlier. He pulled out one of the chairs and sat down. His gaze returned to the camera on the ceiling.“I’m seated,” Leon said.“I know. I can see you,” the President replied.“So, what are we going to discuss here, Mr. President? Are you planning to detain me here for a long time?”“That depends on you. It depends on how well you can complete what you must complete.”Those words again. Leon grew curious about what he was actually facing here. Whatever it was, it didn't seem easy to deal with.“Perhaps I should start with a simple question: who are you?
