The bearded man noticed the helicopter too. That smug grin vanished from his face in an instant. He knew damn well—whoever was in that chopper, they weren’t there to help him.

Meanwhile, the Devil Crow bikers were almost at the scene. But the helicopter shifted position, turning to face them, and began to dive.

“You’re wrong. You’re the one out of time,” said the soldier on the right.

The bearded man scowled. A heartbeat later, the helicopter opened fire, unleashing a rain of bullets that tore through the incoming bikers.

“Surrender. You don’t want to die here, do you?” the soldier added, as he and his partner closed in, narrowing the gap between them and the bearded man.

What about the biker backup? Their formation had crumbled. Those still on their bikes turned tail, peeling off to escape the next barrage of gunfire.

In less than sixty seconds, the helicopter had neutralized the threat—giving full control of the situation back to the soldiers assigned to protect Rose.
