A black limousine with gold accents cruised down the highway.

Victor Kerstel sat in the spacious passenger seat, his laptop open on the table. Beside him, Jonathan slept, his right hand still in a cast.

Suddenly, Victor's phone rang. It was Quint.

"Tell me you have good news for me," Victor answered the call.

[I'm afraid it's the opposite, Mr. Kerstel. I want to ask for an increase in my fee.]

Victor frowned. He dropped the phone for a second, just to check if it was really Quint calling. It was.

"What do you mean? We agreed on your fee yesterday."

[Well, yesterday you didn't tell me how dangerous this man truly is. Just today, he wiped out several of my men—two of whom were guys I heavily relied on. It's only right that I ask for my fee to be increased, because the risk is beyond what I imagined.]

Victor's face soured. He wanted to curse Quint, but he knew it wouldn't make the situation any better.

"Alright. How much of an increase are you asking for?"

[Triple. I want my fee tripled.

The bearded man noticed the helicopter too. That smug grin vanished from his face in an instant. He knew damn well—whoever was in that chopper, they weren’t there to help him.Meanwhile, the Devil Crow bikers were almost at the scene. But the helicopter shifted position, turning to face them, and began to dive.“You’re wrong. You’re the one out of time,” said the soldier on the right. The bearded man scowled. A heartbeat later, the helicopter opened fire, unleashing a rain of bullets that tore through the incoming bikers.“Surrender. You don’t want to die here, do you?” the soldier added, as he and his partner closed in, narrowing the gap between them and the bearded man. What about the biker backup? Their formation had crumbled. Those still on their bikes turned tail, peeling off to escape the next barrage of gunfire. In less than sixty seconds, the helicopter had neutralized the threat—giving full control of the situation back to the soldiers assigned to protect Rose. The bearded ma

  • You’re Coming Alone, Aren’t You?

Rose walked briskly through the office lobby, passing the reception desk where Kate was stationed. Seeing the distressed look on Rose’s face and her slightly disheveled hair, Kate wondered if she had just had a rough day — which was odd, considering the rumors floating around that Rose had impressed Gavin and the other directors with her performance at the project auction earlier.Once Rose exited the lobby, Kate picked up the phone on her desk and dialed Gavin’s office. Earlier, he had given her an urgent instruction to notify him the moment Rose came downstairs.“Sir, just letting you know — Miss Rose just left the lobby. She looked like she was in a big hurry.”[Okay.]That was all Gavin said before abruptly ending the call. Kate frowned, wondering if Rose had made some kind of mistake and Gavin was secretly keeping tabs on her....Meanwhile, in his office, Gavin shut his laptop and tidied up his desk. He grabbed his coat and headed for the door. As soon as he stepped into the hal

Leon and Evelyn were enjoying their lunch when Leon’s phone rang once again. He took it out of his pocket and saw Dimitri’s name flashing on the screen. This time, Leon excused himself from Evelyn to take the call elsewhere. Evelyn shot him a questioning look, but eventually nodded. Leon made his way to the restroom.Upon entering, Leon made sure the restroom was empty. Only then did he answer the call.“You’ve found something?”[Yes, sir. We’ve located The Devil Crow’s secret base. Their current situation isn’t looking good. You already took out several of their best men. Right now, among the elite members close to their Big Boss, four are out on assignment. Only one remains guarding the Big Boss inside the base. I believe this is the perfect moment to strike.]Leon processed the information quickly. Then he spoke, “Don’t rush in. Like I told you yesterday, our current priority is securing my family. What about my request to increase security at the house?”[No need to worry, sir. Yo
