Trillionaire in Disguise

Leo Vance walked straight into Director Grant’s office without knocking. His face was red with anger. He threw a white envelope hard onto the desk.

“Explain this!” he shouted.

Director Grant looked up slowly. He stayed calm. This guy had no manners, barging in like that. But Grant was in a good mood today, so he decided not to make a big deal of it yet.

“It means you’re fired,” Grant said. “Get out of my company.”

Leo raised his eyebrows. “How can you fire me? I’m part of this family. My work kept this company alive.”

He had come in early that morning and found the envelope sitting on his desk.

“I need a real reason,” Leo said.

“You’re not the owner. That’s reason enough.”

Grant leaned back in his chair and looked away, like Leo was not even worth his time.

Leo slammed both hands on the table. The sound was loud.

“This company was almost dead before I came. I gave you all my money when you needed it most. And now you fire me?”

He had given the Parker family everything he had when they were in trouble. He only did it because Mia begged him. Now they were treating him like trash for something he never did.

Grant shrugged. “You helped us. Fine. We gave you a job. We even let you marry Mia. That’s more than enough. We don’t owe you anything else.”

He picked up the phone and called security.

“Come to my office. Bring five men.”

Then he looked at Leo. “Leave now, or they will throw you out.”

Leo tried to stay calm. He knew Grant had the whole family behind him. They all blamed Leo for the stock mess. Leo had told Grant not to buy those Kyd shares. Grant bought them anyway after work hours. The stock crashed the next morning. Grant pointed the finger at Leo, and everyone believed him.

No one wanted Leo back in the family. To them, he was just a rat living under their roof.

The security men rushed in fast. It felt like they had been waiting right outside the door. Everything seemed planned.

Grant stood up, walked close to Leo, and spoke in a low voice.

“Have you ever wondered why little Lily keeps getting kicked out of school? She’s four years old and still can’t stay in any school.”

Leo’s eyes narrowed. Every time Lily started school, she got thrown out by the third day. The schools always said she fought other kids or almost drowned someone. Leo knew that was a lie. A four-year-old could not do those things. But the schools never listened. They never even let him see the so-called victims. They just kicked Lily out every time.

He had never thought the Parker family was behind it. Now the truth hit him hard.

“You bastard,” Leo said through his teeth.

Grant smiled. “I already told every school in Summerville. Lily will never get into any of them. No certificates. No future. But you can change that.”

Leo stared at him.

“Divorce Mia right now and walk away,” Grant said. “We will take care of Lily. She will go to a good school. If you refuse, her education is finished. And don’t bother looking for work in this city. No one will hire you.”

“You have one hour to decide,” Grant added. “Or forget everything.”

Leo’s chest felt tight. Divorce Mia? How could he? But Lily’s future was on the line.

The Parkers were only a third-class family in Summerville, but they still had ways to ruin lives. They could easily keep Lily out of every school.

These people had already taken everything from him. No money. No house. Nothing left to be proud of.

He clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white. He had always wanted the best for Mia and their daughter. Even if the schools were lying about Lily, he could not let her grow up without an education. No school would take a child with that kind of record.

Leo looked at Grant. “What’s it going to be?”

Grant smirked. “You have twenty-four hours to divorce Mia.”

Leo stepped closer. Grant was still talking when Leo’s hand flew out. The slap landed hard across Grant’s face.

Grant stumbled back and fell.

Leo tried to hit him again, but the security men grabbed him fast. They slammed him against the wall.

“Deal with this idiot!” Grant yelled as he stood up. “Get this crazy man out of here right now!”

Leo fought back, but there were too many of them. They beat him hard, dragged him outside the building, and threw him onto the ground.

One of them spat on him. “Punk.”

Then they walked back inside.

Leo stayed on the cold ground for a long time. His body hurt everywhere. Nothing looked broken from the outside, but every bone felt wrong.

After a while he pushed himself up. Tears came without warning.

What was he supposed to do now?

He had no choice. He could not ruin Lily’s future. He had to leave. Mia would not agree easily, but he would explain everything. She would have to divorce him if she wanted a better life for herself and their daughter. He had nothing left to give them. No job. No money. The Parkers would make sure he stayed poor.

Leo took one step forward.

A sharp pain hit the side of his neck. It felt like a needle.

His legs gave out. He fell hard.

When he looked up, a strange man stood over him. The man’s face looked cold and empty, like something out of a nightmare.

The last thing Leo saw was the man’s hand coming down over his eyes.
