Back at the Cage Mansion.

"They think they’ve won."

Xander’s jaw tightened as he stared at the tablet in his hand. The breaking news headline glared back at him like a slap to the face.

“Alexander Cage, new chairman of XL Conglomerate, caught stealing company secrets—Retaliation against his estranged father?”

A video of him stealing soft copy files from the company database.

He didn’t blink.

His silence filled the office like smoke—thick, heavy, suffocating.

Max stood nearby, frozen mid-step. “Young master, we—”

“I know it’s a setup,” Xander said, cutting him off with a calm too controlled to be natural. “I just don’t know who pulled the trigger.”

Max exchanged a tense glance with the bodyguard in the room but said nothing.

Xander rose from the leather chair, one hand still gripping the tablet. His reflection stared back at him from the glass office wall. Not the man they used to mock. Not the broken husband. Not the “useless son-in-law.” This was someone else.
