Chapter 44: The Mushroom King's Wrath

The wolf-beast refrained from attacking this time. Instead it chose a worse method. It did something much worse.

It grabbed.

The animal pressed its colossal clawed digits against the war mushroom before clenching down.

CRACK!

A horrifying noise of torn flesh and broken fungal fibers spread through the battlefield. The war mushroom experienced violent convulsions as its body reacted to the intense pressure.

The mage's smirk vanished.

The wolf seized the moment to pull the war mushroom from the ground.

The war mushroom suffered a violent extraction from its underground position.

The beast revealed its entire upper body from the bag as it towered above the mage while its haunting eyes focused on the prey.

It bit down.

The war mushroom's body received multiple punctures from the jagged fangs which drained its entire substance.

The mage staggered back. "What ?"

Chapter 71: The Chief Who Slept Through Legends“There it is... Look! That’s the Village Chief’s house!” Yuno whispered to Piglet, pointing toward the sloped hill and the wide cedar structure resting atop it. His voice trembled slightly—not from fear, but from the eerie sense of déjà vu it stirred. The sight of the tall roof, the moss-covered stone steps, and the vine-draped lion statues made something stir deep in the back of his fungal mind. Chapter 58: The Aftermath of Flames 2 Deep underground… Two objects moved through complete darkness. The builders had not taken the time to create this tunnel with exactness. The desperate attempt at survival had led to its creation. The structure managed to succeed despite its unprepared state and the lack of planning. Gravity pulled the mushroom and piglet down the sloping passage which led them deeper into uncharted territory. The soil had compressed into solid spheres that enveloped their bodies. The meteor strike caused an underground collapse which buried them under multiple layers of tightly packed earth. The momentary burial had sealed them inside a grave made of soil and rock. But something had shifted. The dirt cells which confined them began to shift. Their encased bodies kept rolling as they hit the uneven walls of the underground cavern. The impacts produced electrical shocks throughout their bodies yet they felt nothing except a confused state of numbness and dis
