Night had already fallen over Greyhaven City.

The city’s elite eagerly anticipated the banquet hosted by Cross Corporation to celebrate its upcoming partnership with Rivers Trading.

Everyone was excited. Cross Corporation wasn’t merely a successful company. It stood at the very top, belonging to the elite among the elite.

Despite its enormous influence, no one even knew what the corporation’s mysterious chairman looked like.

“Make sure you handle this properly, Sarah. You need to speak with Mr. Cross tonight,” Grace whispered to her daughter.

They stood in the middle of the grand hall, drinking wine while waiting for the banquet to begin.

Almost everyone was watching them.

After all, it was no secret among the guests that Mr. Cross had allegedly taken an interest in Sarah—even though she was already married.

Whispers about Sarah Moore’s incredible luck spread throughout the hall.

“Yes, Sis!” Tyler added. “Mr. Cross needs to know how horrible your useless ex-husband truly is!”

Sarah released a quiet breath.

She would definitely speak to Mr. Cross once he appeared. She had tolerated Damian’s behavior for far too long. After everything he had done to her family that day, she no longer intended to hold back.

It was finally time for her to meet Mr. Cross in person.

Adrian suddenly wrapped an arm around Sarah’s waist and pulled her closer.

“Don’t worry, Sarah. I’ll be by your side when you speak with Mr. Cross,” he said arrogantly.

Sarah’s expression tightened slightly.

She liked Adrian, but she couldn’t allow him to accompany her when she approached Mr. Cross. His presence might ruin her plans.

She gently removed Adrian’s arm and offered him a polite smile.

“Thank you, Mr. Rivers. And thank you for helping my family today.”

Adrian frowned slightly when he noticed how formally she had addressed him. However, he quickly smirked and nodded.

“It’s fine. You know me. I’d do anything for you and your family.”

Grace laughed.

“You’re truly an angel, Adrian. If it weren’t for you, we might have ended up sleeping on the streets tonight. That bastard! Just wait until I see him again. I’ll make sure he pays for what he did!”

Outside the banquet hall, Damian and Naomi climbed the wide marble staircase together.

In his formal attire, Damian looked like a completely different man.

He wore an impeccably tailored tuxedo. One glance was enough to tell that it was expensive, crafted by one of the most renowned tailors in Greyhaven City.

Beside him walked Naomi, dressed in a black off-the-shoulder gown with a long slit revealing her left thigh. The fabric shimmered whenever it caught the light.

She was undeniably one of the most beautiful women in Greyhaven.

“You should go inside, Mr. Cross. I just need to check something in the office,” Naomi said.

Damian looked at her and nodded.

“All right.”

The two separated.

Damian entered through the enormous doors alone. A faint smile crossed his face when he saw the crowded banquet hall.

It had been fourteen years since he had last attended an event like this.

After marrying Sarah in his previous life, he had stopped accepting invitations from Greyhaven’s prominent families. Then the Great Flood came, and banquets became meaningless luxuries of a drowned world.

Damian walked toward the long rows of food and casually helped himself to the buffet.

The hall was filled with powerful and wealthy guests, but he had another reason for coming tonight.

He needed to find a supplier.

“What the hell? Is that Damian?” Tyler asked in disbelief.

He had been looking around the hall when he spotted Damian standing beside one of the tables, calmly eating.

Sarah immediately followed Tyler’s gaze.

What is he doing here?!

“That bastard! He’s going to cause trouble again!” Grace hissed.

Sarah gritted her teeth.

She couldn’t allow Damian to ruin this night. He had already caused her far too many problems in a single day.

She hurried toward him.

“Damian! What are you doing here?” Sarah demanded.

Damian looked at her with complete indifference.

“Oh, Sarah. You’re here too,” he replied with a smirk.

Sarah clenched her fists.

“Are you trying to ruin things for me again? Enough, Damian! We’re already divorced. Why are you still following me?”

Tyler laughed mockingly.

“Do you seriously think my sister will take you back after you stole all our belongings?”

Damian raised an eyebrow.

“What makes all of you think I came here for her?” he asked coldly while casually eating a cupcake. “As you just said, we’re already divorced.”

Sarah’s anger intensified, especially when she noticed the other guests watching them.

Adrian saw the growing audience and immediately seized the opportunity to show off.

“Look, Damian. I understand that you’re upset about what happened yesterday, but stop making Sarah’s life difficult. Didn’t she support you for years while you worked as nothing more than a security guard?” he asked boldly.

His smirk widened when he heard the surrounding guests begin to whisper.

Some laughed after learning about Damian’s supposed occupation. Others became angry, believing he had spent years taking advantage of the Moore family.

Damian calmly placed his plate on the table and turned to face them.

There wasn’t a trace of fear or embarrassment on his face, which only infuriated the Moores even more.

“Am I really the one making her life difficult?” Damian asked. “You were fucking my wife behind my back, yet you have the nerve to stand here and accuse me of mistreating her?”

Adrian stared at him in shock.

Sarah’s face flushed with humiliation when she realized that several guests had heard him.

“You bastard!”

Grace stepped forward.

“You’ve already hurt Sarah enough! Now you’re trying to destroy her reputation too? Do you want us to sue you?”

“That’s right! Stop making baseless accusations!” Tyler shouted.

Sarah stormed toward Damian and raised her hand to slap him.

But before her palm could touch his face, Damian caught her wrist.

Sarah’s eyes widened.

For the first time, Damian had defended himself against her.

“You! Let me go!”

Instead of obeying, Damian tightened his grip and looked directly into her eyes.

He could see the mixture of fear and confusion within them.

A faint smirk appeared on his lips.

“I’m only stating the truth, Sarah. If you don’t want everyone to learn what you and your family did to me, then stay away from me.”

His gaze briefly shifted toward Adrian.

“Go back to your boy toy. This won’t be the last time we face each other as enemies.”

Damian released her wrist.

Sarah stumbled backward and nearly fell, but Adrian quickly caught her.

Grace and Tyler rushed to Sarah’s side.

“Damian! How could you hurt her like that?” Adrian demanded. “No matter how angry you are, you have no right to lay your hands on her!”

Damian took a deep breath and calmly adjusted his suit.

“I was defending myself. Everyone here saw what happened.”

“Just wait!” Tyler shouted. “Once Mr. Cross arrives, you’ll regret everything you’ve done!”

“That’s right!” Grace added. “Where are the guards? Are you going to wait until Mr. Cross sees this lunatic causing trouble at his own banquet?”

Whispers spread throughout the hall.

Some guests were furious with Damian. Others didn’t know whom to believe, especially since they had witnessed Sarah attempting to strike him first.

“This man is my sister’s ex-husband!” Tyler announced loudly. “She divorced him earlier today, and he couldn’t accept it. That’s why he followed us here to cause trouble!”

Damian could only laugh at the ridiculous scene before him.

He couldn’t believe he had endured living with these people for so many years.

In his previous life, his love for Sarah had blinded him to everything.

Instead of security guards arriving, a lone figure entered the banquet hall.

The entire room fell silent as everyone turned toward the newcomer.

“What is going on here?”
