The silver birds never returned.

Weeks had passed since the Human Chronicle scattered across creation, carrying countless pages into worlds both known and unknown. Life around the lake settled into a comfortable rhythm. The excitement surrounding the mysterious road and the strange children who had appeared from impossible places slowly faded into stories people shared over dinner or around evening campfires.

For Ethan…

That was enough.

Every morning, he woke before sunrise and jogged around the lake. Sophia usually joined him, though she often complained that he walked too fast whenever they reached the hill overlooking the water.

Kai had unofficially moved into their house.

Not because anyone invited him.

Because every time someone asked him to leave, he somehow found another excuse to stay.

“The fish in the lake are emotionally attached to me.”

“No, they aren’t,” Sophia replied while setting breakfast on the table.

“They’ve never said otherwise.”

Lyra, seated nearby with a cup of tea, pinched the bridge of her nose.

“I’ve known cosmic entities with more common sense.”

Kai grinned.

“They probably didn’t know how to fish.”

“They also didn’t steal my breakfast.”

“I’m preserving your health.”

“You ate my toast.”

“I sacrificed for your future.”

The room erupted into laughter.

Moments like these had become normal.

Ordinary.

And Ethan treasured every one of them.

After everything they had endured…

Ordinary felt like the greatest reward imaginable.

Professor Orion arrived just after breakfast.

Unlike usual, he wasn’t carrying books.

He wasn’t smiling either.

His face was unusually pale.

“I need everyone in the living room.”

The cheerful atmosphere disappeared instantly.

Ethan stood.

“What happened?”

Professor Orion hesitated.

“I received something.”

“What?”

“A report.”

“From where?”

“The Moon.”

Silence settled over the room.

Kai blinked.

“…We have people on the Moon now?”

Alexander, who had entered through the front door moments earlier, nodded.

“My foundation helped fund the international research station last year.”

Professor Orion continued.

“They contacted me because they remembered my work during the Seven Days.”

He slowly placed a tablet on the table.

“I think you all need to see this.”

The screen displayed a series of photographs.

Gray lunar soil stretched endlessly beneath a black sky.

Nothing unusual.

Until the fourth image.

Sophia leaned closer.

“…What is that?”

Near the edge of a crater…

Footprints.

Perfectly clear.

Human footprints.

One pair.

Leading across the dust.

Then…

Stopping.

Not turning.

Not continuing.

Simply…

Ending.

As though whoever made them had disappeared.

Professor Orion spoke quietly.

“The station’s cameras confirmed something impossible.”

He swiped to another image.

“The footprints weren’t there.”

“They appeared…”

“…one after another.”

Everyone frowned.

“What do you mean?”

“They appeared without anyone walking.”

One footprint formed.

Then another.

Then another.

As though an invisible traveler had crossed the Moon.

Kai stared at the images.

“I officially dislike invisible astronauts.”

No one laughed.

Professor Orion enlarged the final photograph.

At the end of the trail…

Someone had written a single symbol in the dust.

Not words.

Not numbers.

A simple circle with a single line running through its center.

Mira appeared in the room before anyone called her.

The moment she saw the symbol…

Her expression changed.

“I know this.”

Ethan turned toward her.

“From where?”

“I’ve seen it…”

“…in futures that never happened.”

A cold breeze swept through the house.

The windows hadn’t opened.

Yet every curtain moved at once.

The blue mark over Ethan’s heart began glowing.

Not brightly.

Steadily.

Like a heartbeat answering another.

Far beyond creation…

Nova paused beneath the impossible-colored tree.

One lantern…

Went dark.

Not destroyed.

Extinguished.

The white-haired child immediately stood.

“That’s never happened before.”

Elias appeared beside them.

His calm expression remained.

But his eyes narrowed.

“They’ve made their first move.”

Nova looked confused.

“They?”

Elias slowly turned toward the endless darkness beyond the growing tree.

“I was hoping…”

“…they would remain only a rumor.”

Back on Earth…

Professor Orion zoomed in further.

Hidden beneath the strange symbol…

Almost invisible…

Was another line.

Not carved.

Written.

Three words.

WE REMEMBER TOO.

The room fell silent.

Aion appeared without warning.

His face had lost its usual calm.

“The Forgotten.”

The First Architect appeared beside him.

“No.”

Aion never took his eyes off the screen.

“They’ve awakened.”

Ethan frowned.

“Who are the Forgotten?”

No one answered immediately.

Finally…

The First Architect spoke.

His voice was heavier than anyone had ever heard it.

“When a universe ends…”

“Not everything disappears.”

“Sometimes…”

He paused, as though even saying the words carried weight.

“…something is left behind.”

“Not alive.”

“Not dead.”

“Only… forgotten.”

Sophia felt a chill run down her spine.

“And now?”

Aion looked directly at Ethan.

“Now…”

“They remember us.”

Outside…

The peaceful dirt road beside the lake cracked.

Just once.

A tiny fracture.

Almost impossible to notice.

But beneath it…

For the briefest moment…

A soft silver light escaped from below.

Then vanished.

No one standing nearby saw it.

Except…

A little girl walking home from school.

She frowned at the crack.

Then quietly placed her hand over it.

The light disappeared.

The crack sealed itself.

She smiled and continued walking, never realizing what she had done.

That night…

The sky above Earth remained clear.

Millions slept peacefully.

Completely unaware…

That for the first time since the War of Creation…

Someone…

Or something…

Had taken the first step toward them.

And in the deepest chamber of the Library of Possibilities…

Where no page had been turned in countless ages…

A single old book opened by itself.

Dust drifted into the air.

Its brittle pages slowly revealed a title that Elias had hoped never to read again.

The Chronicle of the Forgotten.

The old librarian closed his eyes.

“So…”

“It begins.”

Not another cycle.

Not another ending.

But the first war…

Against those who had been erased from history itself.
