Chapter 8.

When they came back to the house, Caleb and Gracie were outside despite the warning from Dylan never to come out of the house unless they were back.

But Dylan could scold his brother for disobeying clear instructions, he noticed the looks on their faces that it was good, so instead he asked.

"What is wrong, Caleb?"

Caleb and Gracie didn't notice their presence until that question was asked, looking up at the four of them neither could answer the question in words, their expression did all the talking for them.

Instantly Sean ran into the house to find his father and Marta, he knew Bob sounded very off when he told him to go outside and at that moment the only thing he thought of was that the assassin got through to them.

The way Sean took off into the house made Logan and Dylan follow at once while William was left outside with Caleb and Gracie.

Storming into Bob's room, no one was there, nor could they find any signs to tell that the assassins came in there, no sign of a forced entry nor that of a forceful abducted nor even a trace of blood. So they proceeded to search the rest of the house but still nothing.

Coming back outside the house where Caleb and Gracie were still in awe, Logan did the honour of asking the question which was in the mind of all three of them.

"Where is Father and aunty Marta?"

That was the same question Caleb and Gracie had been asking themselves all the while they were gone and couldn't come up with an answer.

After Dylan left Caleb in charge, he went into the house, barricaded the door as he was told and went on to stay together with Bob, Marta and Gracie, but was only able to find Gracie in the house. Together they both had searched the entire house and couldn't find Bob and Marta, nor anything that could point them to where they had gone.

"Caleb, we need answers! I left you incharge. You had only one job. Keep everyone else safe." Dylan could not put his temper to check at the moment.

Caleb still could not find the words to answer the question, that was his one chance to prove to his brothers that was old enough to handle things in their absence and he totally blew it.

So Gracie had to say something, after all she was older than Caleb. "They were gone the moment you all ran off. We couldn't find them in father's room nor did they leave any trace as to where they were going."

Despite how outrageous that response was, Dylan still turned to Sean and said, "You were the last person to see them, did uncle say anything to you?"

Sean didn't know how to answer that question because his father said a whole lot to him but none of which seemed to explain how he was gone without a trace. So he hesitated before giving a response as all eyes were now on him hoping for a response.

"Well… he said nothing other than the fact that my fighting skills were needed outside."

"That only explains why you came out the way you did." Dylan pointed out that they needed someone other than what he just told them.

"What about you Logan? How did you know of the assassins in the woods?" Sean then asked Logan.

He figured out that since his conversation with Bob didn't help in figuring out they vanished, then maybe, Logan might have spoken to Bob too before running into the woods.

"Someone shot at me from the woods." Logan answered without hesitation.

Meanwhile, William was taking the time to think and deliberate on the things they all said concerning Bob and his sudden disappearance. So far, since all testimonies point towards Sean being the last person to see Bob and Marta, he had to ask.

"Please, Sean, think carefully, did your father act strange to you in any way? How did he know about the attack?"

"That is what I was going to ask him, but now he is gone." Sean answered rudely, he didn't like the idea of William coming in between a discussion that had to do with the family alone. "And what do you mean by strange?" He added after a moment of second thought.

With that, William didn't need a response anymore, he knew Bob had acted strange and Sean wasn't going to admit it. "It seems like they've been taken?"

"What do you mean?"

They all chorused, staring at William with expressions telling that they would need more than that. At least an explanation of how someone would be taken without a trace to struggle to prove it, and from whence it happened since the doors were barricaded.

"What I mean is that I am not the only person that knows about your origin. And there are those who would not stand to see you all return to Rherar, at least not alive."

"You are still not making any sense." Logan points out, because he seems to still be speaking in riddles, creating more reasons to doubt him.

"You have all seen that magic exists from how I healed Sean. Well, there are more deeper dimensions of magic and sorcery than what I can do. And I think that is how your Bob and Marta were taken without a trace, and also how Ben came down with that illness in a matter of hours."

Now that seems to make them reconsider their decision about going with him to Rherar. It was more like he was leading them into another new world that would be impossible to conquer, as it explained a lot about what Andrella, Bob and Ben said altogether, in addition to what had been experiencing months before they met William.

"If we get you correctly, you intend to bring us to a country where we would be wanted dead all these while?" Logan wanted to be clear on what they will be walking into.

"Some." William answered, "But believe me, even Corriver would not be able to keep you away from their plots which you've already seen, so facing your destiny is the only shot you have at being alive and that can only be done with the borders of Rherar. Besides that is the only place you can find Bob and Marta now."

Logan took a minute to think about the situation before saying, "Fine. But first, we will return to your witch because I have a lot of questions for her."

And by witch, he was referring to lady Andrella.

Several days passed before they reached their destination, though William didn’t possess the magical skills to heal Ben of his affliction, he somehow managed to keep him alive throughout the journey. As they came before an ancient hut in the middle of nowhere which seemed pretty much abandoned to Dylan and his cousins, William said to them. “We are here. Please wait here.”He came down from his horse and slowly approached the entrance with fear and trembling. Personally he had never been there before but has had a series of tales about the place and the old witch that dwelt there, including her great healing technique for rare and deadly diseases such as the one that had come on Ben.He was frightened about being there because the witch was not known to be friendly to strangers or people who come there unannounced without an invitation, out of the desperate for answers he had to knock on the door while shaking literally. To his greatest surprise the door was answered by someone he kn
