Chapter 1.
"Help…! Father…! Gracie…! Anybody home…" Logan shouted at the top of his voice while barging into the house covered with blood along with Dylan as they helped Sean who was bleeding badly from his thigh and abdomen. Most of the blood on Logan and Dylan's body was Sean's even though they also had minor wounds and bruises on their arms and faces."What's going on?" Gracie, a younger female of seventeen rushed out of a room in the house as they laid Sean on the table. She froze for a second before rushing to Sean as she looked at Dylan and Logan for an explanation."Don't just stare at us… where is father?" Logan asked. They didn't know how to help Sean and believed their father would know exactly how to prevent the bleeding to ensure Sean survived those wounds."He's gone fishing with uncle Ben. They couldn't wait for you boys any longer." She replied still in awe as to how such a thing happened."Hurry, go and call them, we need their help." Dylan said to her while squeezing Seans hand
Chapter 2.
Logan, Sean and Dylan followed him in, after witnessing what just transpired there, they knew he needed some friends and a shoulder to cry on even though they didn’t know the entire details. It took a little while before Bob and Ben returned into the house after having a private conversation with Finlay. They were also angry that William lied to them but they quite understood why he had to after what they just saw and further heard from Finlay. As they walked in, William asked, “Can I please spend the night here?” He wasn't in the mood to journey at the moment since that is what he has been doing for the past five years which made it impossible for him to be found.“Sure.” Bob said with understanding.“Well, I will be heading home now.” Ben said since that wasn’t his place, he took his wife and younger son with him since Dylan decided to stay with Logan and Sean because they had a lot to talk and find out about William.Deep into the night when Bob and Gracie had gone to bed, Logan wo
Chapter 3.
Before dawn, William was already out of bed and outside the house. After the conversation he had with Logan, Sean and Dylan in the middle of the night, he found it very hard to go back to bed. His initial plan when accepting their hospitality was to leave very early so he would not have to encounter Finlay again but with the recent turn of events, he needed answers before leaving.Just as he had in mind, Bob rose up before his sons who didn’t sleep through the night, so William sprung up his question upon seeing him that morning. “Just who I was hoping to talk to,” he gets up as Bob steps out of the house.“Likewise,” Bob didn’t panic, he was coming from the guest room and hoped to catch him outside before he left. “Leaving so soon?” “Not yet sire, I was looking to get your opinion on something.” William started.“Of course…” Bob was glad to hear that, he had some advice to offer and hoped they were on the same issue as regarding his returning to the palace and hearing his father out
Chapter 4.
Several days passed before they reached their destination, though William didn’t possess the magical skills to heal Ben of his affliction, he somehow managed to keep him alive throughout the journey. As they came before an ancient hut in the middle of nowhere which seemed pretty much abandoned to Dylan and his cousins, William said to them. “We are here. Please wait here.”He came down from his horse and slowly approached the entrance with fear and trembling. Personally he had never been there before but has had a series of tales about the place and the old witch that dwelt there, including her great healing technique for rare and deadly diseases such as the one that had come on Ben.He was frightened about being there because the witch was not known to be friendly to strangers or people who come there unannounced without an invitation, out of the desperate for answers he had to knock on the door while shaking literally. To his greatest surprise the door was answered by someone he kn
Chapter 5.
When they had taken their time to mourn the passing of Ben and had laid him to rest, they got ready to return back to the other half of their family. And while they prepared, William joined them determined to return with them, until he found answers to his many questions he was not going to part with them.Seeing that William wasn’t going to enter into their country after coming that close to its borders after so many years, Paige sought to know why, after all they haven’t had time to exchange pleasantries for two people who used to be very close when they were little. “Don’t tell you are going to vanish again William?” “Believe me Paige, I must.” William answered, he knew they were going to have that conversation from the moment he saw her but didn’t want to be the one to bring it up. “That means you’ve not heard.” Paige rightly concluded, making reference to the things going on in the country. She took his first departure very hard too, she had loved him from childhood as more tha
Chapter 6.
Entering into Bob’s bedroom to see that it was just a regular fever and nothing like what befall Ben they exhaled in relief while sitting around him.Due to the way they stormed into the room, Bob woke up from his sleep, surprised to see them there he asked, “You are back, or is this a dream?” “No father, it’s not.” Sean answered with a smile, trying to put away the sorrowful looks from their face in order to spook Bob or cause him to go into stock.“You don’t have to worry about me, I know.” Bob said as he saw through their pretentious smile. He felt Ben leaving this world which was the reason he came down with the fever. Even they talked in his dreams days ago with Ben telling him that the boys have come to the knowledge the truth about him being a Carr and would seek answers.Neither of them knew what he was talking about even so he had to elaborate, beginning with an apology. “Dylan, I’m so sorry you had to find out about your father the way you did. He was truly my brother but o
Chapter 7.
Days passed yet Logan refused to come to terms with Dylan and Caleb who had agreed to go back to Rherar with William. Despite how hard Sean tried to change his mind, he remained headstrong while refusing to speak with William again. Deep down he believed all William told him about his past but when he thought it over, he knew there was still a lot William didn't say or know as pertaining to why he was left in the river to die in the first place. Bob after recovering from his sickness also sought to convince him into returning to the land of his birth for reasons he refused to tell him, all he said was that Corriver was not safe for him anymore and that he had a lot to fulfill in life which was going to begin in Rherar and the spread beyond it borders, yet Logan refused to heed their words, the question of why William wanted him to return with them was something he could not figure out. Based on what was said about him, William was his rival for the throne of Rherar and could turn aga
Chapter 8.
When they came back to the house, Caleb and Gracie were outside despite the warning from Dylan never to come out of the house unless they were back. But Dylan could scold his brother for disobeying clear instructions, he noticed the looks on their faces that it was good, so instead he asked."What is wrong, Caleb?"Caleb and Gracie didn't notice their presence until that question was asked, looking up at the four of them neither could answer the question in words, their expression did all the talking for them.Instantly Sean ran into the house to find his father and Marta, he knew Bob sounded very off when he told him to go outside and at that moment the only thing he thought of was that the assassin got through to them. The way Sean took off into the house made Logan and Dylan follow at once while William was left outside with Caleb and Gracie.Storming into Bob's room, no one was there, nor could they find any signs to tell that the assassins came in there, no sign of a forced ent
Chapter 9.
The journey to see lady Andrella again was not as smooth as the first. This time they were travelling with more numbers thereby drawing more attention to themselves in addition to the fact that news of William being alive had reached Rherar and that of the strange company which he now keeps. So bounty hunters were ever following them, trying to take their lives, especially that of William.Halfway out of the borders of Corriver, they were met with another band of assassins and just like always they fought back. With Gracie ever close, Caleb was no longer sidelined from the action. He got plenty of opportunities to fight like he had always wanted. And also plenty of time to die, luckily for him, his brothers were always near, watching him back, ensuring his head remained on his shoulders. Now he understood why they never let him stray each time he got the chance to go with them on their mini adventures. Yet he always had a way of chipping into their conversations that he would have b
Chapter 10.
The next couple of days were not smooth. It was the same kind of rough. Even worse. As more attacks were encountered with even more fierce enemies. But through it all, as they kept fighting, they kept growing in strength, in skills, and also swordsmanship. Still they were unable to uncover who was behind the assassins. Who was paying to see them dead was still a mystery which they believed only lady Andrella could uncover. But that was not the only thing realised. It was brought to their understanding that if someone wanted them dead so badly, then their purpose was more than they could even think of or imagine. When they finally arrived at Lady Andrella's dwelling, the place was deserted. It was very quiet in an unusual way, as if there was ever a time it was noisy. But they could all feel the stench of bad air going around.Caleb and Gracie who were there for the first time in their lives did not understand what it meant anyway, they only noticed William, Sean, Logan and Dylan acti
