Chapter 5

Lillian's words came to him from behind with a loud hiss. “The Patricia of the Rex family will be having his birthday tomorrow.

And he wanted to see you do well to get that broken ass of yours off.” The initial frown on her face deepened.

After the sudden pause, Walton nodded his head without turning around towards her.

He nodded his head and sped off from the room. His next point of call was the bank, he needed to get some cash for his upkeep as soon as possible.

He could already see the bank, which was not far from the vicinity, and he gradually made his way towards it.

Nosing through the edging crowd that was littered in the place, he soon got to the receptionist's table, expecting the receptionist to recognize him from their previous encounter.

But when her head was finally raised towards him. It turned out that he was mistaken. This was not the same receptionist who had attended to him ; they had been switched.

The nose of the receptionist twitched with so much anger immediately their eyes crossed paths.

From the way that he was poorly dressed, she already concluded that it was one of those bums who would always come there to beg for money.

The initial frown that was on her face deepened even more.

“Now tell me, are you here to beg for money? Or you are here to ask for donations for an invisible orphanage home.” There was a hint of mockery in her voice.

Walton understood clearly where she was driving it already. His relaxed expression was soon replaced with a scornful frown as he leaned forward to say.

But Wilton was able to maintain a really strange calm.

“Sorry to disappoint you, but I am here to withdraw some money.” He added.

This time, the receptionist could no longer hold back the laughter that had been brewing in her, causing everyone in the room to join her.

With the laughter still in her mouth, she leaned forward towards him, her intentions only to mock as she asked further.

“Now tell me, how much do you intend to withdraw? A penny, or a dollar bill? Why not just use the ATM outside? Or it will not be able to process the money?” She laughed even louder, but the words that he spat out from his mouth made her pull a sudden pause.

“A million dollars would be enough.” He returned.

Her face returned into a scornful frown and her teeth gritted.

She took a glance at him from his head to his toe. There was only one thing that he could be now, nothing but a scammer.

“A million dollars. What do you take me for? That you can scam me so easily and leave?” Her glare was so stiff that it would be able to pull anyone unbalanced.

Walton's hands vibrated with anger. The strange calm that he had been able to summon washed off before me.

“How dare you call me a scammer?” He thundered the words at her.

“Are you angry that I caught you so fast?” She laughed at him.

This time, Walton's knuckles were clutched so hard that it soon popped.

He stared right into her eyes and as the system grew even more intense, so did his anger.

He knew that there was certainly no essence of him standing there anymore. With a sudden stomp, he said.

“I am going to make you regret this. Mark my words.” He said, turning around.

The loud laughter of the receptionist pierced after him from behind, echoing in the vast room.

“And how do you think that you will do that? Rub off some of your poverty at me?” She laughed even harder.

But even with her harsh words, he did not pause even for a single moment.

Getting over to the door, he was about to step right through it. Someone quite familiar stepped right through the door.

It was the manager.

Immediately their eyes crossed paths, his face parted into a smile.

“Master Walton…” The manager paused right away, noticing the thick frown that was hanging on his face. He could already tell that something was wrong.

“Are you okay, sir? Have they done anything wrong?” The manager could not help but panic, knowing that he was going to be getting into a lot of trouble if any bad had been done to Walton.

“And with a flinch, Walton said.

“I think that question should be directed at your receptionist.” He replied with a frown still hovering on his spine.

Cold chills went down the spine of the manager and his face soon broke up into cold sweat.

“Just wait here, master Walton. I will get it settled right away.” He said with a sudden panic.

Afterward, he rushed over to the receptionist stand with a deadly glare on his face.

“Now tell me, what have you done to master Walton?” He inquired with a thunderous note.

But his words got the receptionist even more confused.

“Master?” She repeated.

“I think that you might be making a mistake, sir because the only person who came here was a badly dressed scammer.” He replied.

Immediately she spat out the words from her mouth, the words seemed to pull a string in the head of the manager as he could not believe what he just heard.

Puff…

A slap landed on the face of the receptionist, who could not help but clutch to her already aching face and state confused.

“How dare you call a VIP customer of this bank a scammer? Do you know how much worth of trouble you will be getting me into?” He thundered.

While the receptionist kept on apologizing for her mistake, he made a moved swiftly toward Walton and knelt before him.

“I'm sorry, Master Walton. I should be punished for not doing my job well.” The head of the manager was bowed to the floor, not daring to pair up even for a single moment.

“Please don't tell Miss. Rachael about anything that happened. I am going to get into a lot of trouble.” Hot streams of sweat flowed down from the corner of his face.

Walton helped the manager up, his anger all washed up now, and he smiled.

“Get up, you have done absolutely nothing wrong manager.” He replied.

“And you don't have to worry about Rachael, I am not going to tell her about anything that just happened between us.” He assured the manager once again.

“Thank you very much, sir. I will take charge of your withdrawals from forthwith. What amount do you want to withdraw, sir? Just give me your card, and I am going to get it done.”

“One million dollars,” Walton replied, handing over the card to him.

Everyone in the hall marveled as to who this young man could be that the manager would kneel before him. Someone who had the reputation of being proud.

Soon the manager returned with all the money in a briefcase and handed it over to Walton with a thanks on his lips, and Walton walked off from the bank like a king.

**********

It was the Patriarch of the Rex family birthday already.

The birthday hall of the Patriarch exuded an air of dignity, sophistication, and warmth, reflecting the esteemed status of the honoree. The decorations was carefully curated to create a grand and elegant atmosphere, befitting the significance of the occasion.

Individuals from different family hierarchy were all invited to celebrate the patriarch's sixty five years birthday party.

As the guests stepped inside the hall where the birthday party was taking place, they were greeted by a stunning display of photographs and memorabilia celebrating the patriarch's life and achievements.

For the birthday party, Walton had gotten a rare gem to present to her since he was invited by the Patriarch herself. He wouldn't want to disappoint her for the last time before divorcing her granddaughter, Lilian.

It consisted mainly of a jade pin with a glass frame. The sound of it giggling in his hearing as he stepped into the room. The jade pin was worth four thousand dollars and Walton was able to afford such amount of money through the money sent to his account by Rachel.

His eyes took a quick survey of the room. All the members of the wealthy families dressed in their luxury were littered around.

Finally, it was his turn to present his gift to the Patriarch. He walked gradually towards her and presented the gift to her.

Laying her eyes on him brought a real scorn frown on her face as she took the jade away from him and flung it to the floor.

“Is that what you could get for me on my birthday?” She thundered a deadly glare at him, slapping him right in the face.

A roar of laughter filtered through the hall and Walton's face blew hot red with anger.

“Everyone's getting me expensive gifts worth more than hundreds of thousands and even millions. And that piece of metal is all you could get?"

"What for, to mock me in my old age? You are truly a disgrace.” She thundered.

With his hands clutched, Walton got off from the floor, turning over to Lillian.

“And the divorce papers?” He inquired, not wanting to waste any more of his time there.

She stormed off from the place and handed over the papers to him. Murmurs went through the hall.

Most people thought that he was not going to sign the documents, and he was just trying to make a scene.

“Besides, how is he going to survive without the Rex family?” Another person said.

“Such a disgraceful poor man.” Another said.

Even though Walton could hear every single word of what they were saying, he ignored them and went ahead to sign the documents.

“Here?” He handed the papers directly over to the Patriarch.

“I will have nothing to do with the Rex family from now on.” He added.

Everyone in the hall was stunned, still finding it difficult to believe what they just heard.

But before they could tell what was going on next, Walton turned around slowly in an attempt to leave the hall.

And even though he could hear the loud calls of the Patriarch who was already gritting her teeth with so much anger, he didn't pause even for a single moment.
