“Elena,” Rafael finally called.
Elena turned to him. “What?”
“I’m going to trust you for now. But if I find out you’re playing me, I won’t hesitate to take the necessary steps.”
Elena gave a small smile. “Trust me, Rafael. I don’t have many choices either. We’ll only survive if we help each other.”
Rafael nodded. “Alright. Then, can I know what your next plan is?”
Elena sighed briefly and looked at Rafael seriously. “My plan is simple, but dangerous,” she said.
“First, I need to make sure the data I have stays safe. If it falls into their hands, everything will be ruined. I need time to crack the additional code in this file. I’m sure there’s bigger information they’re hiding.”
Rafael frowned. “Bigger information? What do you mean?”
Elena nodded. “Yes, this document isn’t just about corruption or embezzlement. I suspect there’s a larger network behind the company, maybe something involving illegal trade or other criminal activities. If we can uncover everything, we can destroy them completely.”
Rafael listened attentively. “And how do we do that? We don’t have a team, money, or major resources to fight them. All we have are me, you, and the old Jagur.”
Elena smiled slightly at Rafael’s joke. “That’s why we need to move smart. We need partners. People we can trust who have expertise in their fields.”
Rafael nodded slowly, beginning to understand Elena’s bigger picture. “Okay, so we gather a team. But before that, I want to know... will all of this also help me get the proper revenge on Elias?”
Elena looked at Rafael with complete confidence. “If we succeed, Elias will get what he deserves. That’s a promise.”
Rafael clenched his fist. “Alright. Then, let’s do it. But you need to make sure this plan is solid. I’m not willing to take unnecessary risks.”
Elena smiled faintly. “Trust me, Rafael. I don’t want to die young either.”
“Okay… okay… Here’s the deal. You stay here and keep hiding. Do whatever you need to with that thing. I have my own plan,” said Rafael.
“What’s your plan?” Elena asked, looking at Rafael with curiosity.
“It’s still a secret. I’ll tell you later, once everything is over,” Rafael said, not intending to reveal the system he controlled to Elena.
Elena squinted at him. “You’re not going to betray me, are you?” she asked.
“Oh, come on, Elena. My face is already known to those big criminals. Thanks to you, my life is in danger too,” Rafael scoffed.
Elena smiled faintly at Rafael’s response. “Alright. But remember, Rafael, we’re in the same boat now. If one of us sinks, the other sinks too,” she said, half-warning.
Rafael shrugged. “Just trust me, like I trust you, even if it’s half-hearted,” he replied while grabbing his jacket. “I’m going out for a bit. If anything happens, lock the door and don’t open it for anyone.”
“Aren’t you planning to provide any food, or maybe a clean blanket, or some clothes? I need all of that,” Elena asked.
“Goodness. This is really a hassle!” he complained.
Rafael sighed deeply, looking at Elena with annoyance. “You know I’m not a walking supermarket, right? But fine, I’ll get all that for you. But be patient, I’m not a billionaire who can shop at will.”
Elena just stared at Rafael with a flat expression. “I’m not asking for much. Just the basics to survive in this place. Besides, if I get sick, you’ll be the one who’ll be troubled, right?”
“True,” Rafael muttered as he closed the door. “Wait here, don’t go out. And don’t touch anything suspicious.”
Elena sneered. “It seems like you’re more suspicious than anything in this house.”
Rafael just shook his head as he descended the stairs with heavy steps. In his heart, he cursed the situation that forced him to become the caretaker of a mysterious woman. But despite all his complaints, he knew saving Elena might be a crucial step in his bigger plan.
Rafael left his grandmother’s house with quick steps. Outside, he let out a deep breath, his mind filled with plans and risks he had to take. He grabbed his phone and opened the system.
“System, I need a strategic move. What can I do now to speed up my plan?” he muttered while tapping the phone screen.
The system quickly responded:
“Strategic Move: Contact potential partners who can help fight Elias. Gather additional evidence to strengthen your position. Locations and identities of potential partners have been uploaded to the directory.”
Rafael read the names and locations that appeared on the screen. One name caught his attention: Dirk Morrison, a former coworker. Rafael was sure Dirk also knew important information about the company that had been a battleground for them.
“Dirk, huh? Seems like I need to meet him first,” Rafael muttered, then entered Dirk’s location into the GPS.
Without waiting any longer, Rafael got into Jagur and started driving. Inside the car, his mind kept spinning. “If this system can really help me, I’ll make Elias and his cronies pay dearly for everything they’ve done.”
Rafael gripped the steering wheel tightly, his gaze focused on the road ahead, though his thoughts were filled with plans and possibilities.
“Dirk is the key. If he knows something, I can start piecing together the puzzle,” he muttered.
The system gave another notification on his phone screen:
“Hint: Dirk Morrison is smart but calculating. Make sure to approach him with strategy.”
Rafael read the message and sighed softly. “Smart but calculating? Sounds like someone who won’t help without compensation. Great, just one more troublesome person,” he said sarcastically.
After a while, he arrived at a small bar on the outskirts of town, the location displayed on his GPS. The place looked shabby, with a nearly falling sign and flickering neon lights. Rafael parked Jagur in a quiet spot and stepped out, scanning the surroundings cautiously.
“Hope he’s here,” he muttered as he entered the bar. Inside, the dim atmosphere smelled of cigarette smoke and strong alcohol. In the corner, he spotted a large man with messy hair, wearing a leather jacket, sipping his beer. Rafael recognized him—Dirk Morrison.
Rafael took a deep breath before approaching the table. “Dirk Morrison?” he asked, staring at the man.
Dirk turned slowly, his sharp eyes locking onto Rafael. “Who’s asking?” he replied in a low, cold voice.
“I’m Rafael. Your former coworker. We worked at Mauve, and now I need to talk.”
Dirk narrowed his eyes, took another sip of his beer, and then said flatly, “If you’re here to talk about the past, I suggest you leave now. I’m done with that.”

Chapter 60 – Shadows Behind the Truth
As planned, that day Rafael brought in a few trusted workers to help renovate the building. Everyone pitched in to speed things up.“Elena, are you busy?” Rafael asked as he approached her.“Oh, El. Not really. What’s up?” Elena replied, unpacking several boxes of food to help Ivory in the kitchen.“Ivory’s got some new staff helping her out now. I was wondering if you’d come with me to shop for furniture. What we brought from the old place isn’t going to be enough—more people, more rooms. I think we’ll need a lot more stuff,” Rafael explained.“Alright. Give me a second to get ready,” she said.“I’ll wait in the Jag,” Rafael replied.“Okay, El.”Rafael made his way to the parking area, slid into the sleek black Jaguar, and pulled out his phone. There was a message from Mark:“Have you seen it, El? The heirloom sword?”Rafael hadn’t replied yet. He still wondered—who exactly is Mark? And how did he know everything, including the existence of that sword? Had he been to this place befor
Chapter 59 – The Plan Begins
“Now that it's cleaned up, the place actually looks bigger,” Dirk commented, glancing around the house.“Yeah, but it still needs a lot of renovation before it’s livable. So far, I’ve checked the map—this place doesn’t even show up. Maybe that’s exactly why it’s perfect for our hideout,” Rafael replied. “We also need a proper force if we want to fight them more effectively.”“So, what’s your plan now? What about our business? I’ve already built the website, and the work program is in progress—still rough, but getting there. Maybe once it’s fully ready, we can start seeking investors,” Leonard added. They were having a light conversation after a late dinner.“Yes, we’ll keep the business going from now,” Rafael said, pausing for a moment. “Dirk, what do you think about building a mercenary force?”“Mercenaries?” Dirk frowned in confusion.“Like we planned before—we need to take over the Black Wings gang and convert their members under our command. But more than that, we’ll need to trai
Chapter 58 – The Inheritance of Lancasterford
Crash!“Ugh, the dust!”Everyone coughed as a cloud of dust burst from the newly opened metal chest.Rafael squinted into the box. Inside, lay a long sword—its hilt embedded with a radiant purple gemstone that gleamed in the dim light. He carefully picked up the sword, his eyes narrowing as he studied the intricate engravings on the scabbard.“A sword… in this era?” Rafael murmured, drawing the attention of everyone around.Tring...!“Congratulations! You have obtained the heirloom of the noble Lancasterford family!”Silence fell over the group. Their eyes locked on the sword in Rafael’s hands. The gemstone on the hilt reflected the flashlights, casting eerie shadows across the stone walls of the underground chamber.Sienna stepped closer, examining the sword with curiosity. “Uncle, what does that engraving say?”“It says Lancasterford,” Rafael replied.“Lancasterford? That name sounds familiar…” Leonard muttered, furrowing his brows. “If I’m not mistaken, they were a noble family tha
Chapter 57 – Secrets Beneath the Dust
Rafael walked slowly down the dust-filled corridor, scanning every corner with caution. His hand remained close to the sheath of Phantom Edge, ready to draw at the first sign of danger. The first room he entered appeared to be an old office, filled with decaying desks. Papers littered the floor, most of them crumbling from age. Rafael sifted through a few remaining documents, hoping to find clues about who had once operated in this place.“Looks like this was some kind of base or operation center,” he muttered. He stepped into the next room, which looked like a storage area. Rows of rusty metal shelves lined the walls, some still holding tightly sealed wooden crates. Rafael opened one, and inside he found a collection of old weapons—dusty, but salvageable.“Interesting.”Suddenly, a voice called out from outside.“Hey, I found something!” Sienna shouted.Rafael quickly exited the storage room and headed toward her. She stood near the back wall of the building, pointing at an old iron
Chapter 56 – The Eerie Location
"Is this the place?" Dirk asked as he brought the van to a stop in front of a tall, rusted gate, its surface covered in spiderwebs.Rafael stepped out of his car and approached the gate, holding a key in his hand to unlock the heavy padlock. The road leading to the main building stretched about 150 meters, and the structure ahead was clearly an old one—abandoned for decades.“Al, are you sure this is the right place?” Dirk leaned his head out the van window, eyeing the creepy surroundings.“Yes, the key fits. That means this is the place,” Rafael replied calmly.Sienna climbed out of the van, scanning the area with visible hesitation. “Uncle, are you sure this place is safe? It looks more like a haunted house than a base.”Leonard walked up to the rusty gate and ran his fingers over it. “We’ll probably need a few days to clean this place up before it’s even livable.”Elena pulled out her phone, snapping a few photos of the surroundings. “The building’s structure seems solid, but there
