“This way…” Steve quickly led Chris out and toward a large open garage. The lights in the garage shined brightly and coupled with the flashy colors of the cars in there, he almost got blind.

“Woahh…” Chris stood at the entrance, admiring the rows and rows of cars. “Just how much are these?” The car he rode in with Steve was small, compared to what he was seeing now.

“Maybe a few dollars.” Steve shrugged like the cost of the cars was nothing. “We have a Porsche collection, Ferrari, BMW, Maybach, Rolls Royce, and a few others you can think of.”

Steve was beaming with pride but on the other hand, Chris was in shock. All this was too surreal for him.

“And all those belong to me?”

“Yes. What car do you want? You can choose any.” Steve stretched his hand forward and Chris stepped forward, touching the cars with a hint of curiosity. However, growing up in a humble background made him think those cars were too flashy and he might damage them unexpectedly. He was bound to attract attention if he rode in one of them.

“I want a cheap and normal car.”

“Why?” Steve was displeased. “You can’t drive a normal car with your status, young master.” It was a difficult thing for Steve.

“Stop calling me that.” Chris sneered, feeling that title was weird. He had his reservations with Steve for pretending to be his poor neighbor but then he didn’t probe into the matter. No matter what, he wouldn’t let them influence his choices.

“I want that one.” Chris suddenly pointed at a VW car. “It’s simple. I like it.”

However, Steve looked a bit amused and laughed out loud, “You want that car?”

“Yes,” Chris replied firmly.

“Well, you can have it.” Steve shrugged, mischievously.

“Is there something you aren’t telling me?” Chris was suspicious that Steve agreed so easily.

“I see you have good taste, young master.” Steve was impressed. “That car is a VW Phaeton W12, a special edition we booked from the VW company. It cost 200k dollars.”

“You are joking!” Chris was shocked. “That is the plainest car I can see here!” He never thought the car would cost more than 10k dollars. He wanted to shout that they were ripped off. However, that would be too insensitive of him.

“I will take it.” He said, firmly. No matter the cost, the car still served the purpose he wanted.

Soon, Steve handed him the keys and Chris got in smoothly. He realized why his dad had insisted he learn how to drive. It was for this moment.

Driving the car out, Chris noticed that the car was comfortable and screamed of subtle luxury. It was worth the price. But then compared to the interior of the car, he looked shabby. He had not changed his clothes and they looked dirty and smelly.

He still had the black card given by his father, so he decided to stop at a mall, to get himself some nice clothes and also get a gift for Mia. Mia had always been the giver in their friendship and from now on, he wanted all that to change.

He wouldn’t hesitate to show her the good life.

Chris was already parked in the parking lot and was ready to get out when he heard a loud knock on the car window.

“What the fuck!” He cussed unexpectedly, due to the intensity of the knock. That person almost broke down his window!

“What is wrong?” He opened the car door with a displeased look. Chris didn’t know who was before him but this person was dressed in flashy and colorful clothes. A hint of distaste appeared in Chris’s expression, seeing how a man like him was dressed so tackily.

“Can’t you see my Ferrari?” The man pointed at the car behind Chris’s car.

“And so?” Chris wasn’t fazed by the car. He had seen better.

“Tch!” The man was shocked and angry that Chris had such a nonchalant expression toward his car. He yelled, “Get back in your car and drive the fuck out, so I can park my Ferrari in here.” He made sure to put an emphasis on the word Ferrari.

“As you can see, there is no parking space anymore. A car like yours should respectfully give way to mine. Don’t you think?” The man declared proudly with a condescending look.

Chris was taken aback by this scene playing out before him. He blinked his eyes slowly while rubbing his temples, wondering how a man could be so dense.

“No.” Chris looked straight at him, refusing his request. “I got here first, you should find your own parking space.” He got out and slammed the door shut and proceeded to leave.

However, the man held Chris by the collar and dragged him harshly, his fingers digging into Chris's neck, “Who do you think you are to refuse? You, a loser driving a VW dare to reject me?”

“I will teach you some manners.”

“Do you understand me?” Jones sought for his son’s face as he continued to explain what went on all those years. However, Chris was already out of it, as he couldn't keep listening to his father. He had no single memory of his mother, just images of her he collected from pictures and even those were starting to fade in his mind. “Chris?” Jones called out. “Yes?” He arched a brow at his father. “What are you thinking of? What will be your next line of action?” Jones asked but Chris pursed his lips in thought. The information he had now was a shocker, one that derailed him greatly. He had treated Gerald as his father’s enemy, not knowing the old patriarch was actually his own enemy too!“I don’t know.” He finally answered with a blank gaze. “How is mother related to Robin though?”“They were cousins,” Jones said seriously. “Gerald is yet to find out that we are related to your mother because I kept that information hidden and strategically erased you and me from his radar years ago.

Chris stared blankly at the wall, in his study as he listened again and again to Albert’s and Gerald’s conversation. Even Rico Axe who was by his side was in deep shock. None of them would have thought this was what was going on. “Robin Smith?” Chris frowned. “Does that name ring a bell?” “No.” Rico shook his head. “None that I know of in most mafia organizations.”“But…” Chris frowned. “He seemed to be a renowned figure in the underworld, else, he wouldn't be able to take over the Rice family so easily even with Albert’s help.”They both had the same thoughts. However, they couldn't figure out he was really. At that moment, Chris decided to speak to his father. He couldn't keep waiting until the moment his father decided to tell him the truth. As he stood up, he ordered Rico, “Review the previous recordings. We need to find out whatever Gerald had in mind for us. Also, confirm if Albert is dead, and if he is not, bring him in. We can make him dance to our tune.”“On it.” Rico nodd
