“I cannot believe this sorry excuse for a man really thought he could fool us!” A guest seethed, her voice dripping venom.
“You’re nothing but a waste of space, Joshua Kincaid. Your entire family should be disappointed in a failure like you!” Another guest exclaimed angrily “I’m glad he’s not a member of my family. Imagine the shame that he has brought to his people!” Judging from Joshua’s panicked expression, he knew he was busted. This was Asher’s fault, he thought as rage simmered in his veins. If the bloody twat had just minded his business, none of this would have happened. Meanwhile, Scarlett watched from her seat, sorely embarrassed. She wished Joshua had just kept his lies to himself, now they would be the talk of the city for weeks! But it was all Asher’s fault—just thinking about it made Scarlett’s blood boil. Asher was a clown if he thought he could humiliate her family and go scot free. “This is what you wanted, isn’t it?” Scarlett sneered, raising her voice to draw attention. “You’re trying so hard to embarrass Joshua for lying, meanwhile you’re the king of all liars! “You lied to Victoria and the Stone family that you’re an expert healer, capable of reviving their grandfather!” She scoffed. “It’s quite unfortunate that she gave you a chance and you ended up proving that you’re an ignorant scammer. Your fake treatments worsened Mr. Stephen’s condition instead of making him better! I’m happy that the Stone family threw you back on the streets where you belong before you made things worse!” At Scarlett’s revelation, shocked silence fell over the crowd, followed by a wave of frantic murmurs. After Victoria humiliated their family at her engagement party, Scarlett was curious about her relationship with Asher, so she had them followed. She later discovered that Victoria picked up Asher to help with her grandfather’s treatment because he claimed to be an expert healer. According to her inside man at the hospital, Mr. Stephen’s condition had worsened after Asher’s treatment and the Stone family kicked him out. “Who even allowed a wretched dog like you in here in the first place?” She mocked. “Tell us, did you sneak in? “Oh, I know! You came here to beg for a job, didn’t you?” Scarlett’s face twisted with fake sympathy. “What kind of job would you like to apply for? A cleaner? Perhaps the toilet worker? I know the work of a janitor would definitely suit your wretched appearance!” “I think Scarlett is right.” Simon said. “This charlatan is definitely not a recognized member of the elite community. That suit looks like he rescued it from a thrift store. I’m sure he’s an impostor!” “Exactly, just look at the wretched scoundrel!” Another guest mocked. “Are we certain that he’s not a thief? Everyone, guard your valuables. I believe there’s a petty thief amongst us!” Asher observed the guests in silence, his heart burning contempt as they continued to rain insults on him. None of these guests measured up to his standards financially or intellectually. They were lucky to even be in his presence, breathing the same air as him. Meanwhile, the guests were not happy with Asher’s silence. They were desperate to get a reaction out of him. “Are you mocking us, you shameless heathen?!” Philip growled. Asher scoffed. “With a face as gorgeous as mine, who needs shame?” “I’m sure you’re here to look for a wealthy man to try your scamming tactics on!” Another guest chimed in. Asher's chest rumbled with laughter. “You know what? You look very dumb but you’re actually incredibly brilliant. I’m actually here to worship the Goldmaster. I mean, why else would I come all this way if not for the money? You’re absolutely right.” “Cut the crap! You’re straight-up shaming all of us men!” Another guest spoke up harshly. Asher’s eyes fell to his flat crotch, his lips tipping in a wicked grin. “While I can’t speak for other men’s dignity, it’s sad that you clearly lost yours. Come on, tell us, is it even up to the size of a pinky finger?” He taunted, glancing at Philip’s crotch once again. Philip’s face reddened with humiliation as the guests craned their necks to get a glimpse of his “tiny” manhood. “Oh, come on, that’s all?”Asher quipped with a hint of mockery in his tone. “Then, it’s my turn.” Asher dug into his suit pocket and produced the sleek invitation card that Mr. Stone had given him earlier. Shocked murmurs swept across the room as the guests eyed the invitation card. “This is just to clear the air.” Asher said smugly, holding up the card. “I did not sneak in here, neither did I come to beg for a job or search for a wealthy man to scam. Mr. Stone invited me to this event. I’m sure you all understand the significance of receiving a personal invitation from the Stone family I am no ordinary guest. I demand to be treated with the respect I deserve!” The crowd was speechless. Some guests already wished they could take back the abusive insults they rained on Asher earlier. Scarlett closed and opened her mouth like a fish out of water, at a total loss for words. How did Asher get an invite from the Stone family if they kicked him out of the hospital? After sending his point across, Asher turned and walked in the opposite direction, leaving them to wallow in shock and disbelief. Soon enough, some guests began to display their jealousy and bitterness. “I know he’s just using Victoria’s family for their money. Soon enough, they’ll see him for the leech he really is. I hope he loses all the favour he’s enjoying now!” Susana muttered sourly. “Even if he received an invite straight from the angels, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a cheap gigolo. He doesn’t belong here!” Joshua added. “You’re right.” Simon echoed. “He’s definitely not in our class. Does he really think he can share a table with us…?”

16 || ANOTHER IDENTITY…
Sebastian watched his daughter go with a heavy sigh.He turned to the General and patted him on the shoulder;“I sincerely apologize for Victoria’s behaviour. We both know she isn’t usually like this. I have no idea what has come over her. Don’t take it personally. She’s probably angry with someone else and taking it out on us.”The general nodded but otherwise remained silent.He knew all too well the reason for Victoria’s anger but didn’t dare say it out loud. “You spoke about an impending war,” Mr. Stone cut in; “is your intel reliable? Should we start making preparations to engage in battle?”General Zarek opened his mouth to speak but hesitated when he noticed that Asher was still standing with them. His eyes narrowed cautiously and he remained silent. Sensing the tension, Asher politely excused himself.“Mr. Stone, Mr. Sebastian, I’ll be on my way now. Thank you for having me.”They thanked him for his gift and bade him goodbye.Asher was well aware that General Zarek had wan
15 || ACE, THE BARBARIAN.

She could not believe the abominable words her daughter had just uttered. Surely, this was just comic relief. She could not be serious about marrying below their class.“Victoria, my child, please tell me you just said those horrible things to get back at me for suggesting the wedding. You’re not serious about being in love with Asher, are you? I’m sure you're joking. Please tell me this is all just a stupid joke.”Victoria stood her ground, her beautiful eyes burning with fury. When she spoke, her voice was sturdy and graceful as it pierced the air;“I am never one to play around, mother, and you know that.”A tense pause followed;“I love Asher… and w

General Zarek’s arrival was treated like the arrival of a highly respected king. He was accompanied by six aides, all dressed in crisp black suits and armed to the teeth.Tomb-like silence descended on the hall as he walked through the double doors. He was a handsome middle-aged man, standing over six feet tall. His bronze hair shimmered like stardust beneath the lights. His green eyes were sharp and alert, typical for a soldier of his caliber.Asher had long heard about General Zarek and his great accomplishments in battle. He was a five-star general, guarding the border with several victories under his belt. It was uncommon for General Zarek to make appearances at parties such as this one. Asher wondered about his connection to the Stone family.“General Zarek, what a wonderful surprise! Welcome, welcome.” Mr. Stone greeted him specially.“Thank you. Happy birthday, my dear friend. I wish you many years of happiness.”He snapped his fingers and one of his aides immediately steppe

All eyes were glued to Mr. Stone, wide with awe as they witnessed his supernatural healing in real time.All the mouths that mocked Asher were now shut in shame. Ace’s fingers folded into fists, his heart burning with anger and jealousy. Mr. Stone, on the other hand, was filled with joy. His eyes shone with gratitude as he turned to Asher;“Is this really the Nine Heavens Elixir?”“Yes, sir.” Asher replied confidently. “The elixir is made with rare ingredients sourced from the land, air and sea. I spiced it up with some rare herbs from the sacred Seatu Mountains. These herbs, mixed with other special ingredients, can even extend one’s lifespan by half.”Mr. Stone rose to his feet for the first time and took Asher’s hand.“Thank you so much for this. I am eternally grateful.”Asher nodded, touched by the old man’s humility.“You don't have to thank me, sir. The pleasure is all mine.”Mr. Stone shook his head adamantly.“I’m afraid you do
