Nathan's POV

Susan gripped his shoulder and laughed, implying that she was either growing too comfortable with him or that they had become friends as a result of their close collaboration in planning the event.

He was uncomfortable with either of them.

“ It’s been a difficult week for everyone, Nathaniel. It’s still not an excuse; you’ll stay!” she began, reaching for his arm, when he cleared his throat and took a step back.

He was quite aware that there were other people backstage, despite the fact that they were pretending not to see the two persons standing too close together in the room.

If he wasn’t so careful, the headline would be different tomorrow. Instead of it being an announcement for the winner, Rose Leander, it would read. “Susan Spike and Nathaniel Hayes in a relationship” .
